Can I use a dishwasher to clean my guns? What about ceramic ballistic plates?
>>
Why do you think either would be a good idea?

Gee, I dunno, anon
>>
Maybe if you disassembled your guns entirely into metal components and switched the water supply lines to feed from a giant reservoir of CLP.

Even then I don't think that'd work.

you can clean most anything in there
>>
You can even clean PC circuit boards in them if you remoce the button cells, so why not.
>>
Dishwashers get hot as fuck, it'll strip the finish off most guns like it does to cheap pots (btw they put shit finishes on a lot of guns, worse than most pots)

You can use dish soap, its actually great for gun cleaning. Make sure you lube after.

Would there be a market for dishwasher safe firearms ?
>>
>>27930256
You are literally retarded. Please kill yourself.

OP, its not common, but it is possible. I prefer to use petrochemical cleaners on my guns, but detergent and water have been cleaning things for a very long time.

>Ceramic ballistic plates

UHMWPE is not the same as Corelle. Cleaning is a damp rag and water, a small amount of detergent if they are really bad, like soaked in blood or something. I don't see very hot water postively effecting spall liners.

Never use bleach/lysol/etc. on kevlar or plates

There'd be more of a market for gunwashers

>Guns in dishwasher

Poster on CGN put his brand new Norc m305 (action and all) through the dishwasher to get rid of packing grease/oil.
>>
>>27929910
Tap water has minerals and dishwasher detergent has grit in it to assist in removing caked on debris...these things could adversely affect the finish on your guns. Other than that, if you dry them off and lube them up it should work fine...not as good as actually using a brush on the bore, mind you.

did he forget about it in the dishwasher?
>>
>>27930654
M1A/M14/M305 are made of steel, not some sissified aluminum or plastic (lol) and therefore will rust if treated poorly.

Not that quickly it won't.

Yes to guns, no to plates.

Be sure to dry it thoroughly afterwards.
>>
Also, this is not a good idea because you are going to probably get lead all over your dishwasher and maybe contaminate your dishes and utensils.
>>
>>27932584

Romans wore lead as makeup, used it as a sweetener, and used it as pipes to transport their water, and they had one of the greatest empires earth has ever seen. Don't believe the liberal lies about lead. It's good for you.

the problem with dishwashers is they get hot as fuck, and when the cleaning cycle is over its trying to air dry in a very hot and humid environment. It would be ok if you took it out right after the washer turned off, but it takes me 5 minutes to clean my gun normally. Im not gonna waste that much water and electricity to clean a few guns
