Usually it's regular infantry patrolling the airports and train stations. You can encounter reserve or elite regiments, there is a lot of turnover since Vigipirate is a pretty big operation.
Fun fact, up until a few years ago they weren't allowed to have a mag in the weapon and were in "blue" condition, meaning the mags were under a sealed plastic film in a pocket. Of course one got stabbed by a madman and they could only to bludgeon the crazy with their rifles instead of shooting him, so now they are allowed to carry loaded guns.
I'm amazed by the redardation of high-command sometimes.
Saw a few mini-14s with wood stocks on the raid yesterday. They have quite the collection of small arms over there.
