I had been saving for a cyber Monday deal, but this was what I had been saving for anyway, and at $279, with the BCG and CH, I couldn't resist.

Tell me how badly I goofed.
>>
>>27907826
their "daily deals" really aren't daily deals at all. they're always that price.
>>
>>27907873
No they aren't. I've bought items on "daily deals" that weren't even continued, or that had been out of stock for quite some time. I've yet to see a $500 AES-10B return, or a $420 20 inch A2 build kit.
>>
>>27907826
This is in my budget... I can't find any 11.5 uppers near this price point. Buy yes/no?
>>
>>27907931
PSA isn't bad just some 1911 folk that wont buy 1911's under 850 will complain about "tooling marks" or some shit.
>>
>>27907931
I'd buy it if I wanted one. Going for 14.5 though.
>>
>>27907885
except they are. I was looking like every day for 3 weeks straight when looking for my upper. You might get free shipping on something that doesn't usually have it, but the prices never change.
>>
>PSA isn't bad

Never owned psa. What is their quality control like? What barrel type is it? Can Op link to store page?
>>
>>27907931
You understand that an 11.5 is considered an SBR with a stock added right? Just putting that out there in case you were unaware.
>>
>>27908023
Not my first form 3. Trust is set up.
>>
>>27908017
>I've looked at PSA for 3 weeks
>Trust me, I'm an expert.

Alrighty.
>>
>>27907826
I bought the same SKU at the same price a months ago.

The bcg is not as nice looking as their premium BCG (which I believe is sourced from toolcraft) and must be some unknown brand

The Barrel Extension has M4 feedramps but the upper does not, I guess they are unloading those A3 uppers nobody wants on the consumer by packing them into these prebuilds.

Other than my minor quips up above they really are great. I have put around five thousand rounds through mine without cleaning and it is my primary range/magdump ar pistol.

I cant remember it malfunctioning a single time other than my friend not seating the magazine hard enough in the lower for it to catch.
>>
>>27907826
was it PTAC? if so then you dun goofed

was it PSA Premium? if so then you dun good son, I am happy
>>
>>27908028
>not my first form 3
>making an SBR
>form 3
>>
>>27908591
Neat. It's also the cheapest 11.5 inch upper on the market by a pretty huge margin, so I wouldn't complain.
>>
>>27907931
if you're happy with the configuration (or willing to spend the $ to customize now or later, if desired), hell yes.
PSA is GTG, at least if you're not in a hurry.
>>
>>27908591
Looked at all of their ARs and kits on sale... the $500-600 kits all have A3 uppers. Part of buying from PSA for the time being.
>>
>>27909515
I have never seen a malfunction from a rampless A3 upper anyway. Shouldn't matter too much unless you are firing full auto i guess.
>>
>>27909347
>was it PTAC? if so then you dun goofed

there's nothing wrong with PTAC beyond the uppers fitting lose to lowers

stop regurgitating what you've read here
>>
>>27909578
I own and have shot thousands of rounds through 3 PSA premium uppers with CHF barrels made by FN. Zero failures. PTAC a shit. Enjoy your poorfag upper made by a mystery manufacturer.
>>
>>27909604
The upper in question by OP is a PSA build, not PTAC. The barrel isn't CHF, but it is melonite treated CMV, and will be very durable and corrosion resistant.

There's pretty much no other 'pistol' upper at this price range, and the closest ones do not even have treated barrels.

They are just PSA Not PTAC.

I'm >>27908591

and it fits perfectly right on my 80% Cerro Forge Lower

>>27909604
The PSA 11.5 deal upper has the Anchor Harvey forge code. Mil fucking spec A3 upper.

Seems like some charging handles are randomly selected for harness testing.

but what about Y?
>Y is shit, trust me

okay. please. go on. your opinion has me totally convinced
>>
>>27908021
I think they're FN barrels. QC is decent, but my only issue is how long it takes to process your order and the time it takes to get to where you live. But that's just me being impatient, I guess. PSA is a decent budget build company in my opinion.

>>27909775
Nope, just QA/QC testing

The forge code is that Sectioned off A shape on the upper.

You can find hardness testing marks all over different guns if you learn to look for them.
>>
>>27909826
only the premium and chf are fn
stainless is supposedly wilson but not advertised as wilson
melonite and plain cmv barrel supplier is a mystery
>>
>>27907826
Can I use a lot of steel case in a psa upper and bcg? It defeats the purpose of buying a poorfag gun if I can't use poorfag ammo.
>>
>>27909842
Just use brass case. For a caliber like 5.56 the savings are going to be minimal anyway
>>
>>27909842
Yeah, the chambers are not made super tight on most PSA guns unless it has a "wilson" stainless barrel
>>
>>27909842
I use Monarch out of mine. Steel cased works fine through the one I got. Never had a stovepipe or a bolt lock, so go for it?
>>
>>27909863
>using brass case for any caliber you dont hand load
>>27909865

not bad for that much, grats, may your aim be true and rounds always fall in place

Melonite is an amazing coating for barrels. Glad PSA pushed this industry trend.

Chrome lining is overrated and old comapratively.
>>
>>27911503
I just wish those sound moderators would come back
>>
>>27911622
At the price point, any barrel treatment is a bonus. But you're right, melonite is great.
>>
>>27913094
Too bad any sound reducing device is going to be NFA restricted.

(Source: see the internet)
>>
>>27915475
And what? They didn't invent the treatment.
>>
>>27910700
>>
>>27916022
he never said they did. anon said that psa pushed the trend, but spikes was doing it a while before them.
>>
>>27917353
>>
>>27907826
OP here, the AR shipped today... not used to PSA working that fast. I ordered at 2am, and the upper shipped later that same day.
>>
I own a PSA dissy upper and it runs great.
The only gripe I have had so far was the A2 cage was slightly off center(like a mm off, I have autism) but nothing I couldn't fix myself.
I wouldn't be worried about buying another one any time soon and probably will buy an SBR upper once I get around to filing my F1.
>>
here is my advice

if the upper isn't made from billet then you risk losing body parts, an eye if you ever get a squib.

if you value your life, then billet is the only way to go.
>>
>>27917739
Why?
>>
>>27917739
>>27918030
Because anon has no fucking clue what he's talking about and is repeating shit he's heard on the internet

don't worry about it. forged steel uppers have worked for the US Military for years and they run their rifles harder than you do.
>>
>>27917668
Yeah, seems like they fixed their slow ass shipping times within the last five months.

The only time the wait ever becomes 2+ days is during the later parts of the super sales.
>>
If you're dead set on a CHF barrel then why not just get one from FN directly? I like the PSA Premium line but don't have any experience with the Freedom or PTAC rifles. Premium are barrels made by FN but aren't CHF.

Shit, I made a Form 1 SBR with a clearance barrel PSA sold that was made by DC Machine Company in Charleston. It is melonited and has been great so far. I took a chance on the $79 8.5" barrel with a pistol length gas system and I'm happy.

Does /k/ know who manufactures the PTAC stuff?
>>
>>27909578

I had a ptac upper, and it would short stroke 100% of the time with cheap steel case ammo, and usually more than once per magazine with decent ammo, occasinally jamming as well.
>>
>>27917739
Are you by chance the anon who pops into every bullpup thread briefly just to mention ".... if you ever have a malfunction it will tear off your face...."
