Anyone satisfied with any budget weapon lights? (Like <$80) I have a nice regular flashlight SureFire, but I also have some Chinese knock offs that are also super bright, and very dependable. Just wondering if there are any decent quality Chinese knock-off lights that you can trust, mounted to your Pistol/Rifle/Shotgun?
>>
streamlight and wml are right around $100. there are a lot of used surefires in this category also

I have this: http://www.ncstar.com/product/product-detail.aspx?GroupNo=0&ModelNo=AQPFLSG

Cost me 65 on sale but it was on for 80 normally at the store I bought it from. I tried to get a photo of it in action for you but my camera is shit. The light is incredibly bright and works well indoors and outdoors and the laser is top notch.

yfw I just picked up surefire m900 and m951 weaponlights for $300 and the 900 had a 1000 lumen LED already installed

Ill probably switch out the head on the m900 to a KM2 and the original head on the 951 needs a LED upgrade.

>>
>>27905648
Actually, I should elaborate. I went to turn it on one day and the LED was blown out. I wasn't hitting it with a shovel trying to break it.
>>
>>27905648

I've broken surefires, streamlights, and other weapons-mounted lights. The fact remains that surefires ARE more durable and reliable than the competition, but obviously nothing is invincible. Also from my experience surefire has the best customer service, I've gotten my lights repaired/replaced every time.
>>
>>27905687
What have you done to break the surefires/would you recommend them over others?
>>
>>27905648
>Ive broken one
See nothin wrong with it
>>
>>27905687
I own two streamlights that I've never broken, which is why theyre in the truck instead of in my house like the surefire which has been relegated to flashlight by the bed duty.

>>27905699
Thats because it came back on warranty.
>>
>>27905697

Yes, I would recommend them over others. I broke a plastic tab on a surefire X300 that was on a pistol for years and was beaten and banged around and generally abused a lot. Light still worked fine, but the mounting tab had a crack. Light didn't fall off, but I sent it to surefire when I noticed the crack and got it replaced. Now, the newest X300 Ultra-B models (600 lumens) have integrated metal mounting tabs so this is now a non-issue, no more plastic mounts.

Also had a surefire scout that was on a rifle for years and beaten to the point where the lens cracked but the light still worked. Got a replacement from surefire and good to go.
>>
>>27904099
I have $30 gun lights from Wal-Mart. Work just fine, never fallen off while target shooting. /k/ is just full of shills that want you to buy everything namebrand. Don't get me wrong, when choosing a gun quality and reliability are of utmost importance, but if you can save some money on accessories that don't necessarily inhibit your actual firearm's functioning if they fail, then go for it.
>>
>>27905739

I've broken a couple streamlights and those didn't work, some spring inside or something broke and the light was DOA. All lights can/will break eventually, but surefires will stand up to more than other brands, and I am willing to pay more for that reliability.
>>
>>27905739

Is it worthwhile to buy late-generation models of weaponlights? I wonder how significant the current-gen price premium is.
>>
>>27904099
FUCK OFF

gear is buy once/cry once deal.
figure out what you need vs what you want
then THAT will tell you what to spend (Save up for) NOT the other way around
do you want a "me too" "tacticool" toy, then buy a cheap chinese airshit knock off.
do you want an actual working durable piece of kit, that will last longer than the gun your putting it on? then you are going to spend a pretty penny.

but more importantly that fact that you need this explained to you tell me that you are a gear queer fagot that thinks he can buy skill.
that by slapping a light on his gun he somehow becomes more operator. some how a cool gun with sweet toys is a replacement for trigger time and actual practice with live rounds down range.

and OP asked about the best weapob light for $80.

I dont know how many of these lights are 800 lumens, but the QT2L-X does. Plus its a reliable 4sevens thats been marked down to just $50 compared to the $80 I paid last year. That paired with a VLTOR E-scout For $30 is eighty fucking dollars.

Or just keep paying piles of money for that Surefire label

>>
>>27905865
it is with surfire because a great many of their older products are interchangeable and upgradeable with their current gen parts and lights.

both the m900 and the 951 that I picked up used are upgradable, the m900 already has an LED head and the 951 can switch heads and tailcaps with other surefire stuff

I also have 2 G2x pros and a 6Px defender and the tailcaps from the older 951(xm07 remote), the G2x, and the 6Px are all interchangeable and the heads for the G2x and 6px are switchable

the G2Xs are max 320 lumens (which is perfect for building clearing) with a lower setting and they run about $60 on amazon which is a good price

the body is plastic but the head is anodized aluminum.

JOOS
>>
>>27906204
4Chins let me post the "joos" maymay, but wouldn't let me point out that the real reason that shitfire is expensive is the massive amount they spend on ad copy. I filled out the captcha nine times and hit post only to be told that my message was spam, before giving up and writing "joos."

Fuck you, gook moot, I'm not buying your shitty pass.
>>
>>27905363

A fucking flashlight shouldn't cost $300.

I can't tell gearfags like you not to waste your money on something just because the word "tactical" is on the title, but I've bought extremely dependable flashlights for ~$70. the fact that it has a rail attachment shouldn't add hundreds of dollars to that price.
>>
>>27905506
Ask cavers. A reliable, trust-your-life-to-it flashlight doesn't cost $300. It's the fact that gearfags will buy it as a childish status symbol that allows surefire to charge $300. You're literally paying for the price.
>>
>>27906010
awww, did i bruise your internet tough-guy ego?
did something in that post strike a raw nerve?

quick, better discredit the entire post to avenge your operator-ness

the fact of the matter is if OP wants quality that he can trust his life to (anon will be putting it on a gun after all) then he/she/it has to pay for it
and if they/you are just after a neato-mosquito airshit toy to put on their/your gun to look cool then you are EXACTLY the kind of person i was describing in

>longer than the gun you're putting it on.

Yeah right. With proper care, my gun will be around 50-100 years from now. I don't really know, but I find it hard to believe that a light would last 50 years

>>
>>27906328
not constant run time, lol.

I was assuming a rugged light on a duty pistol with lots of wear and tear. the gun will probably fail before the light will...
we've all seen weapons blown to shit, but the surefire that was attached to it was still functional

although in hindsight yes, with proper maintenance a gun can see service over several generations.
i'm currently still getting miles of fun with my grandmothers .22lr
>>
>>27906342
Ever been caving m8?
your light winds up being beaten against walls pretty often. That's one of the reasons they carry helmets.
They go through plenty of abuse.

>but m-muh explosives
It isn't that harsh, after all, your hand can take it for many years.

>oh yeah, then why do shitty scopes break under recoil?

Lights ain't precision optics. A lens misaligned by 0.001" ain't gonna matter.
>>
>>27904099
>super bright
This shouldn't be your deciding factor. Have you faggots ever tried shooting around cover with a fucking spotlight hanging off your gun? You can't see shit due to the reflection off walls and other objects. I bought an X300 Ultra right after they came out to use it in a low-light/no-light class and it fucked shit up more than it helped. Couldn't see the target after lighting it from all the spill reflecting back. Went back to my regular x300 and made hits all night. 150-300 lumens on a weapon light you will use around any cover. Go higher if you're going to be out in the open.

I've had better luck with streamlight than I have with surefire. Yes Surefire has a really incredible reflector, but for pure strength I think it's hard to beat the TLR-1. Streamlight -owns- the firefighter flashlight market, think about that for a minute. Who will beat the shit out of a flashlight more than a firefighter will? Heat, smoke, gasses, impacts, long run times, moisture etc etc.

The Polytac is my favorite light for carbine builds for their mixture of weight/performance and a TLR-1 rides on my pistols. The polytac on my Mossberg 590 has been there for maybe 12 years, and I've thrown endless high brass through that thing over the years.
