I want to buy a revolver just because.

Is .38 special a good round compared to 9mm?
>>
Yeah. Get one in .357, then you can shoot that and .38 in it, and the extra mass will soak up recoil like a champ. I can help you out. What's your budget?
>>
>>27903517
$150
>>
>>27903578
Up to $500, but I'm still trying to look for a good deal.
>>
>>27903591
you can get the RIA m206 for about $140-1$150 shipped. only shoots 38 however. and not supposed to do +p in it

That thing actually any good?
>>
>>27903517
Buy a 357, and buy one with either a 4 3/4" or 5 1.2" barrel.
>>
>>27903640
its a decent little shooter for the price for sure
>>
>>27903517
>/k/ plz Google ballistic info for me

Shameful.

Yes, .38 is a decent round. Like the other Anon said, go for .357 magnum so you can shoot both.

>>27903591
I'd recommend a used S&W model 10.

>>27903605
You can get a new Ruger GP100 or SP101 in that price range. Some of S&W's smaller revolvers and a variety of used S&Ws also fall in there, but IMO a new Ruger would be the better option.
>>
>>27903517
Get a Blackhawk or RedHawk, so you can shoot buffalo bore 325g +p ruger only loads.
>>
>>27903671
>You can get a new Ruger GP100 or SP101 in that price range.

This is your best advice, OP. In fact, you can get a used one for a little cheaper still, and it won't matter because it's a Ruger revolver and they can only be damaged or destroyed by God himself.

just stop, there's a reason anime posters don't get replies.

.38 feels closer to .22 than 9mm to me... but i guess that depends on the powder and the grain. Still fun to shoot. I find 9mm explodes glass bottles in a single shot; where as .38 special lets me cut a bottle 2 or three times. must be slow as fuck or something.

Any S&W or ruger with less than a 4in barrel.

Avoid Taurus for carry. Idk about armscorp guns.

>>
>>27903785
Are you confusing 38 with .380?
>>
>>27903893
>less than 4 inch barrel
Why? My 4 3/4 saa is one of the funnest guns I have.

SP101 is a great little range toy, my dad has one and i put a shitload through it in both .38 and .357 whenever we hit the range.
>>
>>27903653
Is that the gun you throw in your bugout bag?
>>
>>27904088
This is night /k/. Youre looking for day/k/are, they own bug out bags.
>>
>>27903901
No. i said .38 special. Don't have anything in .380. Have an old colt army in .38 special. What made you think that?

.44 special charter arms
>>
>>27903689
>have 3 Ruger revolvers in house
>one (.44 Redhawk) Ruger refuses to fix even though they fucked up the barrel
>another (Speed Six in .38) binds up constantly
>Single Six does not like the .22 Magnum cylinder that came with it

a-at least the Ruger LCP has a good reputation, r-right guys?
>>
Just get a cheap Armscor/Rock Island or Charter.

If you go with Charter, make sure you get a first or second gen. Avoid anything newer than second gen.
>>
>>27905283
My SP101 is fine. Maybe you just fuck up revolvers?
>>
>>27903517
.38 is a fine round. Like many people have said in this thread, if you go with .357 you can shoot both rounds.

Personally my favorite revolver is my S&W model 10. However there's a lot of good revolvers on the market. Just a heads up though, some revolvers lack a hammer you can thumb back. That might be a consideration for you to take into account.
>>
>>27904088
im the guy who posted the m206.
kind of what >>27904310 said.... I dont have a bob. But if i did i guess i would... since id have my shield on my hip
>>
>>27905422
If you are going to use a .38 I would not use hollow-points since it is a very low velocity round and even more so by going out of a snub. I'd use flat-nose, this is just what I would choose personally.
>>
>>27905368
686+ and 642 run just fine, friend; had a nice little H&R 929 I don't recall ever having any issues with, too
