Nope, those are single mag pouches. Also, It's a CIRAS Maritime carrier, soft armor back wit plates in the front. Pull the tab on the front and the whole thing assplodes, which is great considering I live in a state surrounded on 3 sides with water

You aren't lugging the full ARFCOM mag loadout, whew. Well, it looks nice, very no non-sense. I'm not personally a fan of camelback clipped straight to armor, but that's because I'm an old man and change frightens me.

I have as old school a Gen 1 as you can get (pic related... PVS-2) and this is how it performs:

>Full Moon:

Discern man sized object and rifle at 300m

>Half Moon:

Discern man sized object and rifle at 200m

>No Moon:

Discern man sized object and rifle at 100m

I have played around with it and an IR source but if the IR is reflecting off anything closer than 10 meters it washes out the image pretty bad.

Some commercial Gen 1 NVD's I have used alongside it are slightly better than the PVS-2 and the more you use them the better you get a feel for their capabilities.

Anyone have any suggestions for a battle-belt setup?

I'm not wanting anything super-operator, just something basic to hold my mags, some small tools, dump pouch and my earpro on me while i'm shooting.

I made an attempt to improvise something this weekend but it didn't really work very well.

Weight is a factor but not the main concern. AR500 can be defeated by several commonly available rounds, not to mention spalling.
>muh protective rubber coating!
Shit will disintegrate after a few rounds, if you aren't already swiss cheesed by the guy shooting at you with SS109
And if you were in the military you should know why we use ceramics and not pot metal. They aren't dinner plates, you can drop them flat, fall to the prone, etc and they will be fine. Just don't drop them on the corners.

>>27858209
2-3 years I think. None of my guns sit in the safe, I take them out and train regularly.
>>
>>27858219
>spalling

Allow me to put my fedora on for a moment. Spalling happens on the inside face of armor which is hit so fast that it dents and flakes of metal come off.

When people talk about AR500 armor and flaking, they are usually talking about flakes of metal coming off of the outside face of the armor, which is merely secondary frag and not spalling.

AR500 still a shit though.

try a Kywi man. I used to be all about tacos and for .308 theyre a good option, but kywis are so fucking perfect and cheaper. perfect in that inserting mag is about as easy as inserting a magazine can possibly be, theyre more compact, and again theyre cheaper. Tacos are best as universal pouches.
You dun goofed with the TT dumper, I have one and love it but the mag net is so great. You dont need to unfold it or anything, its open and ready to go the second you pull the velcro. I changed from pistol tacos to a bfg ten speed mostly for personal reasons. Its smaller and lighter while still holding non-critical shit like lights and multitools.
I guess what mostly turned me away from Tacos is that they are bulky as fuck.

That's why I stick with them. I shoot with an AR, AK, 308 magazine fed bolt action, and mini-14 depending where and what I'm doing.

The TT dump pouch is the most low profile one I could find, I wanted to wear my dump pouch at 6 oclock, and as thin as possible for sitting in chairs, vehicles, etc. It also acts as emergency mag STORAGE--you can fit 6 mags in it side by side if you put them in neatly.

Also what are the differences between these:

Tactical Assault Panel
Improved Outer Tactical Vest
Soldier Plate Carrier System.
>>
Did I get this right.

Tactical Assault Panel replaces Fighting Load Carrier.

Improved Outer Tactical Vest replaces Outer Tactical Vest (which is a variant of Interceptor body armor).

Soldier Plate Carrier System is a variant Improved Outer Tactical Vest.

---

Tactical Assault Panels can be worn on its own or over Improver Outer Tactical Vest and Soldier Plate Carrier System.

However three questions remain:

1.) When are you supposed to wear just Tactical Assault Panel?

2.) When are you supposed to wear Improved Outer Tactical Vest or Soldier Plate Carrier System?

3.) Why would you wear Tactical Assault Panel over Improved Outer Tactical Vest or Soldier Plate Carrier System?
>>
>>27869105
>Tactical Assault Panel
A detachable chest rig for armor. It can clip on or be worn standalone. Carries magazines and limited equipment. No protective value.

>Improved Outer Tactical Vest

Full armor vest. Includes full torso soft armor and provisions for front, back, and side plates.

>Improved Outer Tactical Vest

Plate carrier with provisions for front, back, and side plates. No soft armor around the torso (except backers behind the plates, which are not designed for standalone).
>>
>>27869188

Thanks!

Now which should I get for STHF scenarios and range use? How much are these and the armor plates?
>>
>>27869249
From what I've seen

>Tactical Assault Panel
$50-60

>Improved Outer Tactical Vest
$200-300 with soft armor and no plates

>Soldier Plate Carrier System
A quick looks shows they seem to be $250-400 but I've heard that soldiers don't like them so you'd be better off getting a commercially made plate carrier.

As for plates, if you're talking about the issued ESAPI plates you could get a pair for $100 if you're real lucky but usually they're upwards of $300 for a pair.

Personally I wouldn't recommend any of them (except for the plates, that is). I'd say in pretty much every case you'd be better off getting something commercially made by a well known brand but really unless you have some serious SHTF fantasies and just want to blow money you should really think about what use you'd get out of this and how much you care about looking cool (because that's why most of us do this). If you're actually serious about getting armor then expect to pay $350-800 on a plate carrier with plates and pouches or $100-200 for a good chest rig.
>>
>>27869479

Thank you for the replies.

I can't afford the plates. Maybe armor or carrier system but not the plates.

I think I'll just go with TAP or similar. Why is military fading out FLCs and replacing them with TAPs though?
>>
Also I'll add that I don't care about looking cool. I want something durable and practical for SHTF scenarios and something I can use innawoods and while practice shooting.
>>
>>27845120

>>
>>27842950
>Kinky PussyBoy

God dammit.
>>
Can you use TAP and Warbelt at the same time or will it be awkward?
>>
>>27869736
Because FLCs suck over armor. FLCs are actually halfway decent as standalone loadbearing kits (when properly adjusted and setup), but 99.9% of the time people in the military wear body armor in combat conditions.

TAP is much better suited for use with armor.
>>
>>27870068

Can't they just attach the pouches straight to the armor vest PALS instead of wearing anything over them?
>>
>>27870120
Yes, you can. And many people do wear their pouches directly on their armor.

There are various reasons to wear loadbearing gear in conjunction with armor. With a TAP, it is easy because it just clips straight on and straight off. This is good for times when you want slick armor, like inside a vehicle; if you have armor (especially full soft armor) and pouches on, it's snag city when going in and out of a turret.
