how young? because youngfag automatically makes me think just about everybody with a good sized collection is not going to make it
you know, because most people don't start making a good living wage and/or get out from under debts heavy foot till at least few years after highschool

Just took this tonight, I figure it'll be a long time before I get another gun so I'll make this pic last a while.
I wanted to try get my most used toys in a single pic, then I'll can have a less crowded 2nd picture for the things I use less. I'll get that taken one of these days. If I had just a little more room, the mosin probably belongs here too. I love to shoot that thing.
>>27797984
Fair enough, I just usually try to respect the theme if there is one.
>>27798083
Add a flash hider to that AR, and you've got pretty much exactly what I'm looking for when I get one.

Op here, I've always admired your collection and never understood why you're not a trip when you're so recognizable. Really nice collection you've got.

Garands are Cali-legal though, so are the SAR-series with a bullet button.

Yeah I should have worded it better. The Garand is more of a lack of money issue. The AK issue being that I'm in NY.

Thanks. I usually just use my OC like a trip. There was a time when I tripped for a few months, pic related from an old summer challenge where I used it.
But I just like being anon most of the time. I censor myself too much when I trip and it sucks the fun out a bit vs just saying what I really think.

>Now I just have to repost it 20 times to fit in.
Welcome to arsenal threads, except for few people who can afford to buy a new gun every week. But every time you post it, there's probably at least a few in the thread seeing it for the first time ever.

Also, you guys are making a fool of my collection at your ages. I think all I had was the 10/22, the 20ga 870, and a trashy bb gun or two.

I think you'll regret getting a pistol like that.
Get a folder stock rifle and shoot it without the stock, same experience with a longer barrel.
You'll find that you can't hit shit and will probably get old fast since you're just wasting ammo mostly .

22 year old here.
I got a really nice aircraft maintenance job that pays well. So I have a little spending money.

Some good ol' surplus and I also got a sig 229, cz85, p38, colt 1911, nugget revolver, webley, and a colt scout .22 all in crown royal bags in my dresser.
I kinda stopped buying guns so I can start dumping money into a Roth IRA and build up my savings account.
My next gun however, will be a semi auto mg -34.

The only ones I have not purchased my self is the M1 carbine, 1911, and the colt scout, those were my grandad's.

It's an old Armco import Chinese AK, before Chinese AKs started being imported as Norinco.

Its one of the very few AKs in the country that is actually marked as an "AK47" on the receiver. Only about 1000 of these Armcos were imported. My stepdad bought it new in the early-mid 80s and it was eventually handed down to me.

I've got a Chinese cheese grater handguard that also came with the rifle around somewhere.
>>
>>27798911
Fuck I really want to get the 452 ultra lux but its hard to find them and also its a $500 .22lr, but man something about though... wish they were still in production, I heard the 455s parents quite as accurate because of the swappable barrel feature, though it probably isn't that much of a difference.

It cost me like $430 after FFL fees and stuff in 2012ish. It was expensive for a .22lr but it's what I wanted. It's stupid accurate and it's stupid quiet. If I do my part I can easily get penny sized groups at 50-60 yards, and it's quieter than my .177 airgun with standard old Winchester 333/555.

The 455 seems cool because you could shoot multiple calibers but to be honest I doubt I'd ever use the other barrel because .22lr isn't as hard to find as it used to be and it's still cheap and fun.

>>27798959
I almost picked up another one of these Armcos with an underfolder a few months back, but I couldn't get myself to pay what the guy wanted. One of these days I'd want another just to have both models from the same importer simply for collecting purposes.

MAK 90s are good, too. I almost got one in a trade earlier this year because the guy only wanted like $500 worth of milsurp for it but I ultimately decided I'd rather just sell than trade.

In general Chinese AKs are really nice guns.
>>
>>27799015
How quiet? In any way comparable to a surpressed .22lr, assuming you're shooting sub-sonic? Because that would be amazing, considering that suppressors are illegal in this shithole.

We both know the joys of owning a vz58 on this board sometimes...
And as usual, admiring the ultra lux. I'm so glad there's a 455 trainer now too, I wanted to cry when they quit making the 452 with those irons.
Now the decision is, do I get the regular or longer barreled version when I do get one... and I will get one.

Thanks, I way overpaid for it so I could have it a year earlier than most. But I was really scared to miss out on it after being burnt on imports before. My perfect shotgun FINALLY existed stateside and I was absolutely not going to let it slip through my fingers.
It's been a nice trap, skeet, and sporting clays gun since getting it. It's hard to go back to an 870 after using mags once I learned to manage them.
Some of the people I shoot with regularly assumed at first that it'd be really tough to do well with, but I normally hit 80-90+% of the ones thrown. I do as well as any of the casuals. I've done worse with a regular shotgun the last couple times I've used one.

I like it, although I haven't shot it much. Not many ranges around here are friendly towards shotguns. The hardest thing to get used to is that when it fires, it half cycles the gun for you. If you're not used to it, it can lead to short stroking and some jams. Once you get the hang of it though you can really get rounds off quick.
>>
>>27798987

The only thing I hate about it are the plastic magazines.
>>

Is it the looks? or what do you hate about them?
And out of curiosity, can they be fed with stripper clips of any sort?
Is there even a stripper clip cutout at the front of the bolt carrier? Pics would be appreciated.
>>
>>27801347

I feel that if I accidentally drop one of the mags, they'll crack and shatter. If I could find any that are aluminum like the ones that come with the 7.62x39 vz's, I'd grab them.

They can be fed with stripper clips. Can't post pictures right now. After the last shot, the bolt stays open for an easy reload, and yes there is a cutout

Worst case, the GI bill makes 4 years of college living extremely cheap for you so that money lasts a looooooooong time and you don't have huge student loans to pay off afterwards.
Having a thick wad of cash opens a lot of doors that are shut otherwise too, unrelated to college.

You aren't me so that makes sense, but your rightmost two 556 rifles are exactly what I'm looking for in that caliber. And I need to get my hands on an fal one of these years, but a ptr91 might come first.
We won't be so different again, just give me time to buy some more stuff I really want.
I might actually get to handle a c93 again soon and some ARs soon. It's been a while. There's a huge gun shop a couple hours away and I'll head there with one of my retired skeet shooting buddies one of these weekends. I know for a fact I'm going to be picking up some tracers there to shoot at my 400 yard steel targets, those are so much fun out in the open here.

I chose the longer barrel simply because I wanted it to be as quiet as possible without needing a can. If I wanted to lug it around innawoods/innamountains I would have gone with the shorter barrel. When I'm home at my parents' house or grandparents' house outside of the city it's really nice to just shoot off of the back porch and nobody inside would even know I was shooting without actually seeing me doing it due to how quiet it is.

>>27799577
It might be ugly but it's probably the most fun gun I've ever shot. I enjoy shooting other guns I have more, but this one is just plain fun to shoot. My only complaint is that it doesn't have a folding stock to make it more compact. It's super comfy to shoot but I wish it had some sort of folder, and not that AR style collapsible stock conversion thing, that only cuts off a few inches and looks lame.

IDK about that, but it's definitely slowing down for now.
Shooting season is coming to a slowdown during the winter too, so I'm curious to see how things go with prices.
I ordered another crate of factory 188 today just in case you are right.
This year is going to be an ammo stocking year with little to nothing spend on new firearms though. 54r is about as fun as it gets and probably the main thing I'll be concentrating on. I wouldn't mind getting some more 545 crates too, but it's hard to pay these prices for 7n6 when I'm used to getting two crates for that.
>>
>>27807404
how much did you pay for the crate of 188 54r? I really hope 7n6 will get un-b& but i feel it will never happen. I have an slr-104fr on the way right now.

220+ shipping, buds gun shop is as cheap as I've seen. I wasn't planning on it, but prices had risen and a friend of mine said she got hers for 5/box, and I figured I better just make a move and get another crate.
The fact that they're cheaper by 5c/r than everyone else on gun-deals leads me to believe they'll be following suite before too long. I wasn't happy about the 30c/r prices, but relieved I have a little more in the stockpile.
>>
>>27805744

I don't think shipping was flat rate, but pretty much on par for spam crate shipping. Almost 40 bucks.
I have about a crate and a half of russian on and right now, a spam can and a half of bulgy, then most of a spam can of hungarian heavy ball steel core, the only heavy ball ever made with a steel core.

It won't go through my steel any better than light ball from what I've seen. I think it's actually worse. Light ball is more fun in almost every way, unless I'm shooting thick ice. It sends this cool shockwave through the ice vs light ball. It doesn't pound rocks as hard or even splatter mud any better.
I don't even know how many 54r( and 762/545x39) bullets this 1/4in steel stopped before it bent enough so it got weak and I had to rotate it. I also don't know if it's even ar500. It's from farm machinery, probably harder if anything since it's supposed to take tons of abuse digging.
The only thing that goes through it is 556. That xm193 zips through it like butter within 100 yards. It's really annoying. At 400, the full size rifles definitely show their power on my thinner plates that intermediates can barely dent.

Anything that isn't a full size shotgun or long rifle.
This includes machine guns, destructive devices, handguns, SBS/SBR, demolition equipment (although they can get an FEL and produce some, they can't buy any), or anything else absurd.
The law is you can't buy any until you're 21, EXCEPT for long rifles and full size shotguns, so it's a catch all for whatever weird shit people made to get around the rule.
Also getting a handgun in Jew York specifically is a fucking joke at any age.

I'm not gonna argue, I mean, you did build it, but it's just a shame that you slapped some tacky comic book shit on a pistol you worked so hard on. If you're really proud of the thing fit it out properly with some handsome wood grips or something.

It's like refinishing a 50's muscle car from the ground up and then painting a Monster Energy logo on the hood.

Technically true but this varies by state law because in New York state, you need to be 21 in order to apply for a pistol permit. It takes about 8-10 months to receive the permit.
Essentially the youngest people to own handguns in NY state are about 22 years old.

is it the short length you need? I love cheap guns - that's all I buy - so i'll list a few options. Short and... not short.

For about $200 you get a shorty Mosin. Likely the Chinese M53. This will be an actually manageable length unlike the normal huge mosin, but still dirt simple, reliable, and shooting the cheap but powerful 7.62x54r round.

For $180 you can get a Mossberg Maverick 88 12 or 20 gauge pump shotgun. The barrel comes off easy with a single nut (like most pump actions), so it'll fit in a larger backpack, and it has like 3 moving parts so it's dead reliable.

For about $350, you get an SKS - likely a Yugo variant. These have a wonderful machined (not stamped) action that works like a smooth sewing machine when clean/oiled. Shoots the cheap 7.62x39 round.

For about $450, you can build a PSA AR15. Get one of their rifle kits, get a stripped lower receiver, and spend an evening putting it together.

For about $600 (now - how they've gone up in price!) you can get an AKM rifle like a WASR, with a folding stock (or add an aftermarket folding stock). Simple, robust, reliable... but ugly (just compare the "handful of nails in a bucket" feel of a stamped receiver AKM to that of an SKS. I still love them though.

The WA-2000? A pet project my crazy grandfather decided to make out of the blue one day
>be me, my mom just got me a Jane's book of firearms
>grandpa reads it and gets to the WA-2000 page
>hijo, where do I buy this gun?
>I explain to him that it was a prototype and only a few were made
>he looks crestfallen, but then I see his eyes light up
>just fucking takes my book and leaves
>a few weeks later he calls me to his house, and I see him working on it
My grandmother said he hadn't slept for days, just up working on sketches and dimensions. Did I mention he was crazy, and a total Krautaboo?

Also products of my Grandfather's genius.
The middle one is a 10/22 and I think the bottom one was based off a mauser. I have no idea how to disassemble either...
>>
>>27816550
can your grandpa be my grandpa?
my grandpa carved stocks for guns and had a pretty big collection, but he died when I was younger, and my shithead cousins and uncles pawned all of his guns off for drug money. Only guns I have from him are a marlin model 60, and a savage model 24

>6667

>>
>>27816667
Shit, that sucks. My grandpa took an entire industrial grade metalworking shop and drilled out the entire basement of his house to accommodate it. His basement is literally the batcave, with exposed dirt and weapon racks.
I swear to god the last time I went to his house before he passed he had a tomahawk cruise missile in his parlor...
>>
>>27800635
which do you like shooting more, 5.45 or 7.62x39?
>>
>>27816978
Not him but 5.45 all day erry day. Cheaper, no recoil, super easy to get decent accuracy mag dumping, and the bullet does weird stuff when it hit things

But I do say that there is nothing quite as nice as the gentle nudge that 7.62x39 gives you every time to shoot. If I could only shoot one or the other for the rest of my life I would be absolutely heartbroken because I love both.
>>
>>27816417

>>27816978

Thanks anons. I was more or less just looking for a rifle that wasn't my AR or Mosin and even my K31 to go to the range with alot. AR gets annoying because I get tired of always cleaning the internals and every AR guy just gives you this look when you even hint at the thought of gas pistons. The Mosin now that I have been shooting for a bit just get fucking old. Since the rifling on mine had mild pitting in it I can never truly get it clean and my shoulder being bruised all the time is getting a little old. K31...is well just too expensive for a college student to run.

I was mainly looking at cost per shot and 7.62x39 and 5.45 are both about 22 cents per which is why I was thinking of getting an AK along with everything else I mentioned. Sorry for the paragraph but I am really liking the idea of an AK in my arsenal.
>>
>>27817740
What did you have trouble with the most when you attempted the 10/22 VSS?
>>
>>27798083
>TFW no amount of money could buy those guns in Australia
>TFW I am doomed to have noguns because of my weak-minded countrymen.
>>
>>27817914
In short, the 10/22 receiver is just as wide as the airsoft's chassis. Making the two fit and look passable was next to impossible.

I'll get back to it some day, but it'd be better if there were, like, a 1.2:1 scale version or something out there.
