Ugly little bastards but they have grown on me since I shot an AUG at the range and now I'm thinking of cutting off the tip of my dick, wearing a kippah, growing a beard and getting a Tavorah.

The main thing that bothered me was the trigger on it, is there any way to fix it, I know they sell triggers but how are they? Is there anything in the works to improve the triggers in bullpups right now or is it even possible?
>>
>>27788270

The upcoming desert tech bullpup is supposed to have a pretty legit trigger out of box, and the aftermarket tavor triggers are nice, but fuckin expensive.

Personally, I'm waiting to see how the Desert Tech rifle is. I'm itchin for a bullpup too.

In my personal opinion, you should buy an AUG. Triggers for the Tavor are hundreds of dollars. If you already have tons of AR mags, there's a version of the AUG A3 that accepts them instead of the waffle mags.
There are two available trigger mods I know of for the AUG: Trigger Tamer and Neu Trigger. I have a trigger tamer in my A3 and it reduces trigger pull by about 4 pounds or so if I remember correctly, without fucking with the springs. The Neu Trigger supposedly removes stacking and makes the trigger pull smoother overall, but I have no personal experience with that.

Order an AUG put together custom for you from PJ'S steyr aug.

I have both the neu trigger and trigger tamer in my AUG and with the right tuning it's really amazing. It's now down to a short 4.2lb pull.
I've had people ask me if it was FA due to how fast I could shoot it.

I'll prioritize buying the Neu Trigger as well then.

Not my pic, just one I had saved. It's cute though.
>>
>>27789049
The amount of polymr is kind of a point of worry for me, would you say that the wear resistance and reliability is as good as an AR?
>>
>>27789112
The outside may scratch. That is the extent of the damage it will experience even in hard use. It is a sturdy design.
>>
>>27789049
Damn, A1s are fucking sexy.

Absolutely. The AUG in its various forms has a very impressive track record of reliability. Like any military firearm, it can suffer from repeatedly being issued without proper maintenance. However, it's very reliable when properly maintained. Admittedly, it carries the price of proprietary parts if you need to replace them (which you shouldn't have to until you've enjoyed years with the rifle). That said, it's very simple to strip and clean. You'll eventually see wear on the polymer body, but it will be cosmetic damage. The body is very rigid.
>>
>>27789141
>>27789156
I mean internally how will it be, the hammer being made of polymer is probably absolutely non issue but it gets damn cold were I am and am worried about it.
>>
>>27789185
The trigger pack is also quite reliable, it won't break because it's operating in cold weather.

It was one of the best purchases I ever made.
Also, that 20" is sexy, I'm still missing a 20" for my collection.

>>27789112
Not at all. Like the other anon said. It'll scratch if abused enough, for example you can see brass scratches on the stock where the shell bounce off. But other than that it's extremely well built. My AUG was a pre-ban made in the 80's and it's still kicking with pretty much all stock parts.

I'll also add that there's the Manticore Arms brass deflector for the AUG. You can avoid getting brass in the face while shooting lefthanded, and it will prevent brass from marring your AUG. A common concern I see about the AUG is the lack of a brass deflector. The Manticore deflector is around $20 and it clips onto your rifle.

How cold? I buried the thing in snow last year, stuffed it in my mags, ran 100%.
>>
>>27789306
About -5 F on average but sometimes it dips to -10 if it gets bad.
>>
>>27789471
It can take that, no sweat.
>>
>>27789471
Not about augs but most guns in my experience don't start fucking up until -22F and if its not snow freezing up the action is usually a lube problem.
>>
>>27789481
Sweet, sounds like I'll be getting my first spacegun next year provided I can resist purchases until then. Is Desert Tech something I should wait for, as a left eye dominant person the forward ejection sounds like something I could get behind but I don't really like to buy new guns because there are almost always hiccups for at least the first run.
>>
>>27789521
Desert tech is probably going to be way more $$$ than an aug.
>>
>>27789588
True, and I do wonder how it would compare to the AUG a couple years down the line when hopefully it comes down a bit on the price though it would probably be always more expensive.

I'm already good with an AR for a main rifle so it'll be more or less a range toy/ maybe home defense gun so I kind of want to wait and see where this goes.
>>
>>27789588
It's going to be SCAR money or more.

>>
>>27789521
FN FS2000 have foreward eject too but are more finicky than the Aug probably about the same price too.
>>
>>27789705
Yeah, that's why it doesn't really do it for me, though I would totally get a kick out of the shells just plooping out the front.

webm is a pain in the ass to make imo go for it if x264 is what floats your boat.
>>
>>27789588
It's going to be about $2000 for 5.56 and $2400 for 7.62x51. Which is around what an AUG costs.

how have I missed that they were making one in 7.62? My boner.
>>
>>27789588
Last estimates were $2250 street, $2400ish MSRP. Completely reasonable all things considered.
>>
>>27790793
I thought the ability to swap between 2.205 and 2.750 OAL cartridges was one of the main draws of the MDR. That's what makes me want it most.

>>27790809
You don't have to estimate. Eurooptic has had it up on their site for a long time. And it was confirmed with DT that Eurooptic had the right prices.
>>
>>27789521
Next year is good. The AUG is good. And we'll know by the end of this year if the MDR is worth the wait.
