The nutritional value as far as vitamins and minerals isnt much of a concern with the doctrine of making emergency food. It has a lot of calories, sugars and proteins to keep you on your feet. To answer your question, this food is made on an industrial scale. Think school lunch for marines and /K/ommandos. To meet demand, we have to pump out many tons DRY WEIGHT a day. With that in mind, the method of cooking has to be conducive to that sort of scale. Most of the ingredients are mixed and cooked in a large vat and poured down onto trays where they go into the cold rooms. from there, they hit the chambers. then they are processed depending on the type of food. the ingredients are of decent quality and the whole facility is about the cleanest thing next to Mother Teresa's criminal record, but keep in mind that almost all of the food is boiled, then flash frozen, then stuffed into an almost perfect vacuum and chilled to -150 for many hours. try that with cordon bleu and it may taste off.
