Does anyone own the k31?
Ive been really thinking about buying one.
Hows the ammo? Any surplus?
>>
>>27779155
mac and iraqvet said buy one while its cheap and so i did. gonna take my gf kid to shoot whenever the ammo gets here
>>
I guess my real question is if the k31 is better than the finish mosin nagants
>>
>>27779189
Look at it this way, what do you think is better: a weapon made by mentally addled manlets, that was improved by snow fairies, or a weapon made by some of the most precise and skilled craftsmen in the world.
>>
>>27779189

I own a K31 and M39. I love the M39 but the K31 is an exquisite piece of military surplus for an econo-rifle price.
>>
>>27779211
>>27779241
k31 it is
Hows the ammo?
>>
>>27779258

Prvi Partizan makes 7.5 Swiss now. Surplus GP11 is drying up but can still be found.
>>
>>27779272
>Surplus GP11 is drying
OH NO.

How bad is it?
>>
>>27779326

Most of the suppliers are out of stock currently but it'll be back. I figure it'll be a lot like 7.62x54R, in that as the Swiss rifles proliferate here in the US you'll see more ammo companies tool up for the cartridge. Might never be as cheap but you will be able to shoot them without too much hassle.

>$379.99 for 480 rounds of GP11

I'm sure it is flying off the shelf.
>>
>>27779326
I wouldn't worry about it, Privi is making good shit and it is re loadable with .308 components. You are saving your brass, right?
>>
>>27779189
Depends. I like my finnish mosin more than I do my K31, but it just comes down to a matter of preference, and what you shoot better with.

Get a K31, and don't look back. It's a good excuse to get into handloading too. I don't see anyone really regretting their purchase of it.
>>
dont buy one if your from new york becouse no local shops carry it even though ppu makes new production. Other than that i bought one for 300 and not having shot it its fucking beautiful.
>>
GP11 ammo availability is spotty, but they don't really go up when they are available. They are imported a only few times a year and each time they come in they are available for a few months before running dry. The current "shortage" isn't anything new. GP11 ceased productions in the mid 90s I think, but the surplus we've been getting are still in the early 80s, so they should be available for a good while longer.

commercial ammo is available, thought its like 70 cpr instead of 50 cpr when SGammo has it.

Having both K31 and M39, well, I can't really say which I like more. The K31 isn't the most comfortable to shoot for me (it's fat and my tiny hands can't get a good grip), while the M39 is very ergonomic. The M39 sights are very precise though and harder to aim with my shit eyes. I shoot my K31 more though.
>>
I've had one for like 3 years

Outstanding rifle
>>
>>27779326
GP11 goes in and out of stock. I would buy about a thousand rounds at a time to make sure I can wait until it comes back at reasonable prices.

GP11 is still very popular in Switzerland. If it runs out the original equipment is still ready to restart production.

If you're still worried, get into a simple single stage reloader and reload Privi or GP11. GP11 is Berdan primed though so you'll need a special decapper and primers.

I loved the one I got to shoot, but I need to stock up on another niche caliber like I need a hole in my head. Now if I could get my hands on one of the .308 rechambers, I'd be a happy man.
>>
>>27781218
I need a .308 k31 in my life... How get ?

Do you want to buy the best manufactured and sexiest milsurp rifle?
Then buy a K31.

They are absolutely fucking gorgeous.
>>
>>27780750
fuck anon.....that wood looks too good.

I wouldn't refinish my own K31. It has the troop tag, and I would like to leave it the way that Fritz left it. Maybe I'd refinish one without a troop tag to feel less guilty, but still.
>>
I have a 1936 production
absolutely wonderful trigger, tack driving accuracy, and the straight pull is fun as fuck

get it now before they dry up
>>
>>27781367
They're incredibly rare, so unless you can find one already being sold, you have to have the work done. This is one of the names I've seen come up before but I'm sure there are others.

The projectiles are .308, only the case dimensions are different.

If you reloaded (as you should), you wouldn't care.

Worth mentioning for those who aren't familiar with GP11 is that it's a great factory load (one of the best), but it's easily surpassed even by an amateur reloader/handloader as most loads are.

$40 from AIM. It was marked as one of their B-grade ones so the finish on the scabbard is a little worn, I don't care though. $60 for a nice looking one is a solid deal (and $100 for one with the original buckle-style frog but you probably aren't interested in that).

I have a couple K31's and a k11 and they are my favorite surplus rifles. Most acurate surplus rifle I have ever shot, most reliable, and when you get the battle pack of surplus ammo it comes in a pouch and then smaller boxes instead of a spam can that takes forever to get into, and then having paper bundles falling appart.

And for those with really deep pockets, the K-31's younger brother, the ZfK55 sniper rifle. Which apparently sells at upwards of $4500.

The entire action is canted 15 degrees specifically to make sure the scope is over the bore and that the charger clips still fit.

Amazing engineering.

I believe Haemmerli sold 7.62 NATO K31s at some point. Not sure if they still do. I would be prepared to pay well over 1000 USD though.

GP11 is incredibly cheap when it gets imported though. For 58 cpr 7.62 NATO is usually total dogshit for accuracy.

Classic is allegedly a "christian" store yet they censor and delete ANY review with the slightest hint of negativity.

You could post a 3/5 star review and have about a 50% chance of it being published.

Fuck those kikes and their selective censorship.

You guys only receive the beaten up stuff.
>>
>>27781649
I've bought from both, but in general AIM is a better business. Classic constantly feeds off FUD to spur sales and makes shit up to justify prices. Although I guess some of their bullshit did evetually come true a few years after (they were screaming about nuggets and food being increased in price at the exporter level around the end of 2012 early 2013. Which was bullshit at the time, but now prices for both have gone up pretty much 100%)

Customer service for both is good, but AIM is a bit better. I had issues with a PU scope and they actually contacted Vic Thomas (The nugget expert who appraises imports) for me. Classic customer service is nice the few times I've had to deal with them, and they did go the extra mile for me once by prioritize shipping for one of my orders so it gets to me before I leave for an extended trip. They issue is that they sometimes ignore emails or don't call back.

There are some issues with AIM for me, but it's the same issue classic has as well. Being in CA, both of them just refuses to sell certain stuff to CA despite it being legal.

>>27781609

Classic knowingly peddles bullshit rumors and sells junk rifles.

You can find okay deals and reasonable prices if you shop around their site but they also sell completely worthless and knowingly flawed rifles with BS brutus descriptions stating how great they are.
>>
>>27797197
Them peddling bullshit is spot on, but the guns they sell are from the same sources as everyone else, unless you're talking about their AKs and ARs, then yes, the guns they push the most are from terrible or manufactures only they sell.

The latest thing I think was with Waffenwrk guns. Classic was selling old returned guns at a discount, and saying that it came with the full warranty. DDI stated that it's not true, they won't honor the warranty, and to not buy it. Classic did sort of force DDI to honor the warranty in the end though. It's good for the buyers in the end, but it was s dick move by classic to offer for sale shit and potentially non working and promise warranty without even talking to the manufacturer first.

>>
>>27798832

>>
>>27791069
You don't actually want to reload with magazines unless you have a huge scope blocking the top of the action.

Use the charger clips, they're absolutely faster than magazines.
>>
>>27791293
Mojo sights are a waste of time and money. If you see one on the K31 it's a bad sign and you shouldn't buy it.

If you're referring to diopter sights where the rear sight is mounted near the bolt handle, those are worth about 400 USD alone.
>>
>>27798832
A ton of changes. The K31 moves the bolt lugs to the front of the rifle, the sights start at 100m instead of 300m, the bolt handle is aluminum, the barrel is longer. The K31 also doesn't have a shim on the barrel bands unlike the K11.
>>
>>27799712
Anon, I more just want it for spare parts in case something stupid happens to the one that came with the gun.
>>
>>27799725
What's wrong with the Mojo sights?
>>
>>27799757
The whole point of an aperture sight is to focus the incoming light and help align the front sight. Mojo sights only do the second half because they're too far away from the eye.

They're functionally identical to the notch. If you want better sights, either get optics or diopter sights.
>>
>>27799783
I though the idea was to be more like an AR/Garand style sight, not a proper diopter. It still seems better than the stock sight as I can barely see them.
>>
>>27799799
The Garand sights help with focusing incoming light. Not as much as a diopter but enough.
