Why aren't there more semi/pump shotguns?
Was it just not a good idea or too complicated or what?

Also I recently learned that the hook on the stock is not a carry handle, but meant to hook around the users wrist when holding the gun in one hand for stability, I wish more guns had cool shit like that.

Post and discuss cool things you don't really see anymore, or experimental things that were cool but never took off.

If it's semi, only reason to retain pump is to fire low velocity shells. The newer Benellis have a gas boosted inertia system so they can cycle damn near everything.

>gas boosted inertia system
How does that work?

I've always heard the complaint of semis not being reliable and junk, does that fix it?

I've always wanted one of those. Best shotgun in S.T.A.L.K.E.R SOC. Probably average irl...

it's horrible in real life
you can have an accidental discharge by flipping the safety

> accidental discharge
no its a back up trigger

The Benelli M3 does the pump/auto thing so much better.

Depends on the model, and while amazing it's not horrible. Meh is about right.

>>27551247
The M3 had the luck of not being the first attempt, but I agree.

I want a one handed firing hook on all of my guns

Some specialty shells like incendiaries or pyrotechnics will fuck up all kinds of shit when used in a semi auto because they burn so slowly
>>
>>27551876
How are you supposed to use it?

Mossberg 930spx owner here. Ive had it for ten months now and I havent had a single issue yet.

I did a lot of reading about it before buying and all you need to do is use high-brass ammo. That could be a deal breaker for a lot of /k/ommandos, but its my home defense gun.

As long as its high brass, you can run shit ammo through it. Ive even done a fair amount of regular waterfowl and stuff that I found on sale and still havent had a problem.

That's bad ass.

OP also mentioned prototypes that didn't take off, I always wonder why pic related isn't a thing.

initial tooling would be very expensive, more so than conventional tooling.

the army also wouldnt be able to use existing stockpiles of powder

lastly, remington and winchester-olin would increase costs on other ammunition the army buys on future contracts due to smaller volumes ordered.
