I'll start

I currently own a VZ58, a russian and a chinese SKS as my semiautos. I want another VZ for my wife but that's for a while down the road.

I'm thinking about ditching the chinese SKS and getting a flat top upper T97. I read online about how awful the ergonomics are on these rifles and I want to know from you guys if they're actually worth buying. I would be using it for coyotes and shit, not just range time. The safety selector location doesn't really bother me too much.

How good/bad is the T97 FTU? I can't find a review online I trust, they all just tell me to buy a tavor and I'll be damned if I have an Israeli gun in my house.

pic semi related, my VZ. Just finished removing the paint off of it. Back to black now, folding stock and better foregrip in the mail.
>>
>>27541862
Also I have taken all the paint off and the rifle looks pretty good but there is still some paint residue left on the gun in a few spots, looks like hard water residue but it is very resistant to removal. Is more varsol the answer or is there one last step in removing the paint that I'm not aware of?
>>
I just sent in for my PAL.

I had to check "yes" when it asked if I have attended mental health services over the past 5 years. It wasn't for depression, suicide or anything like that. Hell they didn't even put me on medication.

I sent an attached letter explaining the above.

Has anyone here checked yes in that box? Did it delay the process substantially?
Will they have to call me or my doctor now to confirm I'm not crazy?

I fucked myself pretty bad, didn't I?
>>
>>27541913
I'm sure it'll be fine man, they'll probably just call your references now. They usually don't if you don't have a criminal record.
>>

Where can I buy ATACS FG stuff in Canada? I ordered a chest rig by Beez Combat Systems but I need an IFAK pouch and a camelbak. I don't feel like buying their stuff and waiting 3 months for it again.
>>
>>27541913
I agree with >>27541957
Your references will just have to go "No." when they get asked if you'll be a danger with a PAL.
>>
>>27541971
Thanks for being just a bit better than the Liberals while still wanting to ban handguns. You made a bad choice relating to /k/anada.
>>
>>27541862
I would advise against the purchase.

I have one with the original "carry handle" upper, this gun is total chinkshit.
>bad safety and mag release
>pushes bullets into the casing if you ride the charging handle
>actually rips brass casings in half
>bad sear design causing occasional double or 3 round bursts or failure to cycle
Plus
>plastic
>plastic
>plastic, even the trigger

I'm used to mine now but I never let anybody else shoot it.

Save your money, buy a gun not made by chinks (other than an M305, mine is awesome).
>>
>>27542321
If you could would you get a VZ58 in 5.56 with a magwell adapter in lieu of the T97?

That's my second option. I genuinely love the VZ platform.
>>
>>27542350
I'd just buy an AR or if you've got the dosh find a used XCR tbh fam
>>
Gonna wait and see how the election goes before I drop a couple of grand on an AR, nothing's probably gonna happen but you never know.
>>
>>27542359
I don't want to shell out XCR kind of cost and I want something I can hunt with in the woods. ARs are out for me. I also don't want some scrubby Mini 14
>>
>>27541971

Me.

CZ-75, Type 54, clay shotgun, No.4 sporter, Type 56, scoped .22lr.

Cons are authoritarian scoundrels
Libs have learned nothing from 10 years of defeat
Green lol (didn't even run a candidate in my riding)

This makes the NDP the least reprehensible.

I hope we get a minority government since I don't trust any one of the parties to govern unrestrained.

2 1/2" 12 gauge is hard to find. There's an importer at the end. I would suggest just buying 2 3/4" 12ga hulls and cutting them down before loading. 2 3/4 hulls are way more common. I know shit all about reloading tho so hopefully someone else can help with that.

Contact these guys they can import 2 1/2"

And then Mulroney did nothing to stop the trend, which abated under Cretien-Martin, which took off again under Harper.

There's no party in this country that can hold up the "fiscally responsible" banner. Not fucking one. If we've got tax-and-spend liberals we also have spend-and-debt conservatives.

Conservatives are projected to win 35.8% of seats
Liberals 39.7
NDP 23.7

fuck you liberal shitbags, fuck you

I counted the seat projections by riding to see what the end result would be. I think the cons fucked themselves by adding in those thirty new seats to parliament. Without those seats the cons and libs would have completely different numbers.

Personally I'm pissed that big cities are overrepresented while rural areas get fuck all, excuse me while I go for a drive down the roads here that haven't been repaired in 6 years and try to avoid the massive sections of road that washed out last week in the maritime rainstorm

Not true, the measures that Mulroney put in place (including the GST) were the start of the cleanup. Chretien and Martin were just around to claim credit, steal from EI and screw the provinces.

As for Harper's deficit, it was far lower than the Liberal and NDP plans, and they just posted a surplus a year earlier than predicted. What nation of similar size and power didn't run deficits after the 2008 crisis?

its not like harper carried us gracefully as fuck through a recession or anything. do you only look one way before crossing the street? i fucking bet you do.
>>
>>27545511
It's funny how quickly people forget.
The GST under Mulrooney was to clean up the mess that Trudeau Sr. had started.
The Harper deficit was entirely from having a minority government. The Liberals and NDP threatened to form a coalition to take down the government unless more spending was done. Prior to that we had a mostly balanced budget. We would have had a balanced budget through the recession as well if it weren't for the opposition parties forcing through $50 billion in spending.

I used Krylon, it worked great tbh. It was black at the start and it hasn't faded at all.

Started with tan base coat nice and thick, added diagonal OD Green stripes, used laundry bag and jute twine as stencils. Sprayed tan over the stencils on the green parts and vice versa. Added a third layer of brown stencils here and there. That's about it, I did it loaded as fuck.

I actually just finished taking the paint off of the rifle. I decided it looks better without it. It's so beautiful in it's normal form.

That being said I'm ordering the FAB defense handguards and putting a red dot on them in the near future. I like the scope a lot but until I get some truly awesome glass a red dot will do.

It's not like it's a long range weapon anyways, the round tapers off after 300m very significantly.

After using the vertical foregrip I can honestly say I fucking hate them. I never found they added stability or maneuverability to the rifle or me at all. I'm planning on trying out the angled attachment for foregrips though.

The buttstock seems a bit much to me and I've heard bad things about the dust cover scope mount thing there. I've read reviews that the bolts strip easily. I personally wouldn't want to put something on my rifle that prevented me form being able to take it apart easily. I already have that pistol grip and I will be getting the handguard in the pic though.

If you don't have the nice czech tube looking muzzle break with the six holes I highly recommend you get one, cut my muzzle jump down by like 2/3rds at least. Pic will probs be blurry as fuck but it's the best I have,
>>
>>27546982
I'm surprised you didn't put a lower-mounting scope, or some kind of small dot sight like a TRS-25, SPARC, or Micro. That height over bore is impressive.
>>
>>27546875
Yea they just want you to have bare arms so you can't harm anyone, that why you kill them, or declare your property a sovereign territory and tell the government to fuck off
>>
>>27547026
It was a $114 scope from Amazon I bought just to try out the rail. I plan on getting something much less ridiculous shortly. Honestly the height ratio doesn't fuck with me that much for close range shooting; it's about the same as shooting the C7 at work with the Elcan on top of it. At 25m most guys flick their sights to the 400m setting. I just aim off. Works for me I guess; as long as I'm fast and accurate enough to hit a man I'm happy.
>>
>>27546982
>I personally wouldn't want to put something on my rifle that prevented me form being able to take it apart easily.
since its closer to the bore than a side mounted rail it will hold a zero much more sharply.
>>
>>27547026
also just think, I could have gotten the high mount so I could still use irons. Only six inches higher off the bore than this current setup. lol

>what is parallax?
>>
>>27547103
I've never had issues with my side rail so I see no reason to fuck with it. I'd just really hate to need to carry around an allen wrench to clean my rifle after firing corrosive. It would get old very fast for me.

Protip: Gut some paracord and crush a .22 bullet with pliers to be a skinny tube. Insert it in to your gutted paracord and melt the end. On the other end grab a needle and thread and sew a loop, melt the loose end.

You now have a boresnake, I've done the same thing with a copper brush for great effect, split the twists and ran the paracord through. I keep the brush and patch bore snakes in my chest rig along with basic cleaning gear. I highly recommend this, fuck cleaning rods.

>>27547167
yeah I've seen the one you mean. I guess if it's something you'd like then that's great. I just remember being torn over that mount and the side rail. I'm pretty happy with my choice.

>>
>>27547208
>I'd be interested to see if it holds zero after a proper cleaning man
yeah but doesnt the side mount bolt in as well?, it looks close enough to the return mechanism to have to be removed when cleaning.
>>
>>27547352
it's a lever release. The rail stays on and the mount levers off. It's fucking great man, with the flick of a lever I can drop my scope for cleaning and never have to worry about rezeroing

my second time going into the office in person (right before the approval phone call) I had my gf with me and the lady was really friendly so maybe that helped

In other words, the Liberals had an easier ride, because the lower dollar meant that our exports to the US were more competitive. That meant we could sell more to them and therefore balance the budget more readily. Also, when the Liberals were in power, China was still facing the affects of the Asian currency meltdown, and hadn't become the destination of choice for all manufacturers just yet. That's another thing the Conservatives had to fight- while facing an at par dollar.

So all you've managed to establish is that the Conservatives had a much harder fight to balance the budget (and they couldn't pull the "raid the provincial transfers" or "fuck EI" trick like the Liberals did)

I hope he does get re-elected, and that you examine the real facts more carefully in future.

Let there be real debate when no party can shut it down. Let's have it all out on the floor. Make each party compromise itself over and over until the bare lies shine through. "dude weed lmao" is the only part of his platform (other than running deficits) that is in any way clearly defined

AND STILL, even there he's got no clue beyond "legalize it", stating so himself on CBC, trying to spin having no plan into prudence, saying he wants to legalize it and then wait and see, observe, do studies to figure out how to best tax and regulate... WTF??!!

you want to legalize it? fine. but having no plan for doing so? there are plenty of places on Earth that have done it years ago and you can study them, do your research, run some models based on that research and what you know about the economy, demographics, etc. of Canada and then make a plan from the combined data you have. you can wait and see if that plan needs to be tweaked when you are implementing it, but just going "fuck my shit up, fam", legalizing it and seeing what happens is moronic at best

as a soldier I unironically will tell you guys that our hi powers are fucking shit. The barrels are so loose they rattle, the frame/slide is loose as fuck too. We are lucky to get a 40cm grouping with a full mag at 20 meters. The army bought too many of them in WW2. We are still going through our old WW2 stock on them. All the army did to fix the failing pistols was buy us new Italian made magazines that work pretty decent until the feed lips get touched the wrong way. Then it proceeds to become a liability to us by jamming every fucking 2nd round. Like multiple feed kind of jam, full out drop your mag and hold the slide back and shake the fucking pistol kind of jam. It's ridiculous that they expect us to protect ourselves with those pistols

The new ones we're supposed to get? They only went to the military police. Not enough new pistols to go around.

When we go to the range we don't even try for accuracy with the things, there is no point.

>everyone voted because of me
>about a hundred people who mostly voted conservative

In the recent provincial elections only three of us voted, everyone else was convinced that their vote wouldn't count. It's up to us to make sure people vote. The smart people are more likely to be disillusioned about their power and who can blame them? The left has been browbeating us in to submission since we were children.

Stand up, say something and make a difference. It is your civic duty. People fought and died for your right to vote. Don't like the parties on the ballot? Make your ballot get rejected. Add a new box and write "X sucks cock" on it or something. Rejected votes still get counted.

Just fucking say something man. The world needs people like us to speak our minds. More than that we need it from each other. Our existence is lonely, we all need to know we aren't alone.

you get my point though, I'm obviously speaking about my political opinion. Anything that goes against the narrative is not allowed and the people who think against the social narrative don't feel like they make a difference far too often.

Whatever your view point is have the responsibility to be a properly informed voter who has considered all parties in your area. Consider what the MP can do for your region. This isn't the states, we aren't electing a president, we are picking the MP that would be best for our riding. Too many people forget this and base everything off of hating harper or trudeau or mulcair.

I will never say people should not vote, even if the majority of views are contrary to mine all it means is it is time for me to move to a place where my desires are properly represented in the house of commons. Right now I'd be content with moving to Alberta.

as much as I understand the disillusionment, you gotta get your voice out there too. if the only voices heard by the passive masses are the dumbest and the loudest, we'll be in trouble because those people will follow those voices and those without an opinion of their own will only be too happy to have a pre-made one handed to them.
you can spoil your ballot by voting for the Libertarian candidate. last election, that's exactly what I did, since from the data available, Cons had a win in the bag, needed a minority to remind them they need to get off their asses and work a little harder
and since pans-on-head party does have a lot of ideas I agree with, but would never let them run the country, and since those ballots do get counted, if Libertardians get enough votes, some of the major parties might pay attention to it and move some of their policies in that direction, in hopes of snagging that small bulk of voters
>>27558840
in cases like this, it's a toss-up
I do agree that in terms of retarded social media people, sometimes it's not worth bothering.

in some cases, if it looks like a completely moronic circle jerk, you might want to not bother. in others, just leave an intelligent but calm and polite comment pointing out their particular brand of retardation. it won't convince the idiots getting off on having the "Harper is a Nazi" as this week's identity, but it might change the mind of someone just stumbling onto the point and thinking it's clever off the bat, only to see yours and taking the time to re-evaluate the original.

sometimes you just gotta pick your battles though, there might be no point wasting breath on people who will fight you for hours online but will most likely not get off their asses to vote on the elections day (justifying it with the fact that it'll be ok, they did their part in "raising awareness" so they don't have to go, because they "inspired enough people who will go vote Harper out anyway" lol)

tfw i wanna move to kentucky because they have the knob creek machine gun festival every year thats equivalent to a theme park for guns and other types of weaponry.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uUNL6rW-Ck
>>
>>27559638
>tfw Canada used to have machine gun festivals
And then gun control happened.
>>
>>27559674
Thank goodness

Do you have any clue as to how many oppressed poly-spirited missing aboriginal womyn have been killed by machine guns purchased at those festivals of death?

It's called common sense. Gun nuts need some.
>>
>>27560028
Why? For what purpose do people keep spouting these pseudo-arguments on a board where everyone is already pro-gun? We already know that the anti-gunners won't listen to a thing we say, so practicing rebuttals is a fruitless endeavour. Holy hell.
>>
>>27560028
I get a laugh out of the Liberal platform, saying they'd have women's groups involved in making decisions on firearms.
>this gun looks too phallus shaped, clearly its going to be used to rape women and kill children
But its not okay for men to speak about how abortion or "controlling their lives".
>not against abortion, just saying

What was wrong with type 81? Did it get AK'd or is RCMP playing "prohibited by way of never fucking classifying it".
>>
>>27560946
Because everybody wants to just mag dump at the gravel pit with their SKS right?
>>
>>27549631
NDP and liberals will coalition it, even if they don't say it.

Implying they don't agree on banning guns anyways lol.
>>
>>27561101
Been sitting in the lab for years, no classification still. Maybe one day.
>>
>>27561101
RCMP is sitting on a bunch of classifications hoping for a Liberal/NDP/whatever government so they can go and prohib all of them. They've got some extra "fun" in store as well if the cons don't win.
>>
>>27556607

I'm voting for the conservatives mostly from an economic stand point. Just look at how the libtards bankrupted Ontario, they hold all sorts of sporting events and shit in Toronto but still can't balance a budget. I'm afraid of what havoc they will reek on shit like my TFSA or RRSP.
>>
>Canada
>Anybody can buy a muzzleloading rifle, gunpowder, and ball bearings without a license
>Somehow, there are never any criminal deaths invovling muzzeloaders

This always perplexed me.
>>
>>27561947
Or more bombings,
>>
honestly, I'm betting on the cons; while the Ndp and lib numbers are paper-close in polls, they tend to be all talk and no dick, ESPECIALLY ndp voters, whereas the CPC actually got better percentages than the poll ones in past elections; so I honestly think they might cinch it for infinite lib tear works
>>
>>27563196
Most of us are hoping for the Cons, but sadly, I'm thinking HE'S GUNNA LEGALIZE WEED GUIS 420 BLAZE IT xDDD is the prevailing attitude that's going to be what gets enough stupid, uniformed kids who would normally not give two shits about an election to rally together and vote.

And I think it just might be enough to carry the prettyboy airhead tp victory, thanks to his famous last name and his promise to let the kids get high.
>>
>>27561947
The few times this topic has popped up, people assume that muzzleloaders and gunpowder need a license to acquire.
>>
>walking in the bush
>spot a grouse
>Let me just pour some powder down the muzzle. Now I need to find that wad and that ball. Just hold still while I jam this ramrod down. Okay now don't fly away while I pour some powder into the flash pan. I'll cock the hammer now and point this long and heavy gun at you. Now don't fly off while I fire this subsonic inaccurate ball at you.

If I can't get a PAL I would just use a compound bow. Black powder muzzle loaders are useless.
>>
>>27563196
>>27563226
liberals are winning the majority of ridings in projected opinion polls. We're looking at a lib majority guys, go to threehundredeight dot com and see for yourself. They're gonna win. Canada has been memed.
>>
>>27564073
So all the good parts of C-42 will get repealed in a flood of logicless, emotion-filled "now those insane gun owners can't OC in sports arenas, grocery stores and schools :)" because a bunch of stupid fucking kids will cast their vote on the idiot who will legalize their drug habit

Sometimes I wonder how this entire country hasn't burned to the fucking ground yet
>>
If it weren't for Mulcair's idiot gun law policies, and his retarded cabinet, I'd vote NDP. Fuck that French fuck and everything about separatist yet oddly socialist shit. People are entitled to the sweat of their own brow and shouldn't be punished for being prosperous.

But here's the thing about Conservative;
>tax theft
>the middle and lower class pay most of the taxes, proportionally

What is the truth behind the tax theft thing? As much as Canada's gun laws need to improve, there's no way I'll vote for a goddam thief.
>>
>>27564307
Dunno about the tax theft thing, but the Liberals have reversing the slight gains made in C-42 in their platform.
>>
>>27546569
I'm with you anon. I'd destroy my restricted if there is a confiscation.

They can get fucked if they wanted to put my guns in one of their gun crushing propaganda videos.
>>
>>27564073
>>27564140
Fugg.

I hope not, it despairs me to know that a large portion of the country think of gun owners like us as some dangerous criminal element when in reality we are probably the most law abiding bunch around.

I just want to be loved and understood...
>>
>>27561947
Hell, we can buy antique cartridge firearms, and the brass, caps, powder and bullets (even pre-made) without a license. Again, no mass shootings with Swiss Model 1882 revolvers.
>>
>>27548155

OH shit i almost forgot about "muh missing native women! Harper do nothing" How is this a national concern? tell the Natives to stop killing / beating their wives?
>>
>>27563226
There is no reason not to legalize weed, so personally I'm glad its occurring, since if it gets legalized, the Conservatives won't be able to repeal it since there would be a serious shitstorm.
Further, Harper needs to leave and get replaced by somebody more competent. People hate him, not the party. If he left they'd stand a better chance of winning the election.
>>
>>27565196
I don't want to be understood, just left the fuck alone.

Fuck.

>>27565795
I don't like them right now either, but it's the only way to keep guns.
>>
I just learned something interesting from the Alberta CFO office. I need a range membership to buy a Tok, right? But all the ranges around Edmonton are at least $100/year. But I can buy one in BC for $30/year and still satisfy the cunts, since apparently they don't care where it is.
>Me: So, does the range have to be in Alberta
>Him: N-no, but you'll only have certification to that range or something blah blah
I'm shooting innawoods regardless, just let me buy the fucking thing.
>>
>>27565909
Good luck getting an ATT....oh wait, you don't need one anymore!
>>
>>27565965
>>27565909
Hmmm, if this actually works maybe I'll finally get myself a restricted.

Speaking of which, is it okay to shoot restricted's on free/public ranges?
>>
>>27566078
Yeah, just ask the admin of the place to give you a letter of invitation if you don't already have an ATT on your license.
>>
>>27566078
The letter of the law is that you can only take restricted weapons to licensed ranges that qualify as pistol ranges.

It confused me why you needed to a member of a pistol range to have the licence, because you can also just pay a day fee if you didn't want a membership.
>>
>>27566121
>AR-15's can only be shot on ranges that qualify as pistol ranges
Sometimes I forget just how retarded our laws are. This doesn't even begin to make any sense.
>>
>>27566152
Sorry, I meant restricted pistols. I forgot there are some restricted long guns.
>>
>>27566152
>>27566163
PS restricted long guns is what is stupid.
>>
>>27566163
But I imagine the restricted long guns have a similar condition as well.

I recently applied to work in Intelligence Services in the Reserves, I got invited to a Seminar at my local military recruitment center.

Has anyone here done something like that or is currently in Intel Services? What is it like, what does the Seminar talk about, will they be taking applications and stuff?
>>
Yay firearms safety test results came in now time to wait 30+ days for the election to FUCK OVER EVERYTHING.
>>
>>27566318
I knew some reserve int ops.

Their trades course was pretty laid back because it was so small and you don't want to piss off guys with Top Secret access.

Don't quote me on that though, that was a decade ago and more of an aquaintance than a friend.
>>
>>27567079
On a side note does anyone know if you have to do the 30 day wait on upgrading PAL > RPAL
>>
>>27567146
Yeah I think so, but if you don't have a license yet then just apply directly for the RPAL.
>>
>>27567150

No I already have my PAL. I'm renewing to RPAL
>>
>>27567176
I think you have to wait for it, and they'll probably call at least one reference then.
>I just went straight to RPAL so I don't know for sure.
>>
>>27567192
>>27567176
I upgraded my PAL to an RPAL about a year ago.
Pain in the ass, you have to all the shit over again.
>>
>>27546702
Is even that necessary? If you're a cityfag, couldn't you just say you were walking them to the range when you were mugged? Then just describe a generic black guy.
They couldn't really contradict your story, and if they ever found your funs, they are already considered stolen, and therefore not really traceable to you.
>>
>>27565303
>the Conservatives won't be able to repeal it since there would be a serious shitstorm.
>They wanna make weed illegal again?! WHAT THE FUCK MAN
>The Liberals made those kinds of guns illegal? Meh, I don't really care...
>Guns cause death, like, duuh? So it's probably a good thing
>Dude pass another blunt! It's Wednesday and now that I've graduated high school, there's nothing for me to do but smoke up with my buds in my parent's basement all day!! xD

I know it's been pointed out before, but that double-standard when it comes to guns and drugs makes my blood boil.
>>
>>27565965
You will again soon :^)
>>
>>27567783
I'm not that guy BTW, but there is a difference between a tool/weapon and a substance where the entire goal is to fuck around with your brain to the point where it doesn't function properly temporarily (or permanently) for fun.
I couldn't care any less about weed other than the fact that I can't stand that smell. Holy shit it's bad.
