I don't have any kids running around and I plan to take the money I'd spend on a safe to buy more guns. My plan is to own more guns than any burglar could conceivably carry so they'll either get spotted by neighbors hauling out an arsenal or they'll just take their fill and leave.

I don't give a fuck about kids getting your shit, I gave you credit for not being that retarded.

But you do realize that nignogs generally go to "low-crime" and rural areas specifically to steal guns from hillbillies too stupid to buy safes, yeah?

A decent safe is like $3-400 at your local tractor supply/farm fleet store, you have more than that in guns sitting on your rack.

I mean it's your money, I don't give a fuck what you do, but unless you're a poorfaggot you can swing a few hundred to protect the thousands in your collection, and keep it out of melanin-enriched hands.

I dont have a safe either.

I would have one but im currently bouncing around places so often that having one is a HUGE bitch to have to move around constantly and/or fit in tiny apartments. what I do when Im out for extended periods of time is ill loop a bike chain thru the trigger guards of all my milsurp and padlock it.
>>
>>23378520
Is...is this fucking bait? Or are you low 20's?

Talk to a pig in your area, I'm sure they'll be more than happy to clue you in on how many burglaries they deal with in a given month where guns are stolen in smash and grabs. When that happens, guess what the police do? Nothing. Guess what the ATF does? Nothing. You just have to sleep at night knowing some dudes wife just got raped at the barrel-end of your shitty AK.

I live in Indiana 3 hours away from the closest major city and yet people around here STILL catch niggers in their houses. What happens is these boons will hop in a car in the morning in Indianapolis, drive really fucking far out into the country and look for a house with no cars in the drive, or apartment doors that look easy to open. Smash in, take 10 minutes to grab what their feet-hands will hold, throw it in the car and go on to the next house. Any guns get sold in Indianapolis, which then get taken up to Chimpcago and used in the gillions of shootings they have there in a given weekend.

I honestly don't give a fuck about you or your property, but just leaving your guns out is asking for them to get taken and used against people who work for a living.

Hey, I work there! Typically our gun safes run about $350 for the 12 gun el-cheapo to the $1300 48 gun tall body. I recommend the Winchesters. They're a bit more pricey, but the trade-off is added security.
>>
>>23378520

Chances are you leave some kind of footprint that says you're a gun owner. I can literally go down my block and point out all the gun owners just by the stickers on everyone's fucking cars.

I would say if you're going through the trouble of having a bike chain through them, take the fucking bolts out and hide them in an empty cereal box and put it in your cupboard.
>>
>>23378694
That is an excellent tip not a lot of gun owners seem to think about - gun stickers on your vehicle.
Not only does it tend to make your vehicle more of a target for break-ins looking for guns in your vehicle, but if they have someone with some smarts in their group they can do like you said and mark your home for a job later after some simple casing work.
>>
>>23378686
I went to Big R (fucking love big r) and found a safe that was $399. I put on my jew hat and asked if they'd sell the floor display, and they did for $299. Pretty smashing deal for 30 seconds of talking to the dude.

One tiny investment to protect a substantially larger one. Also, bolt them bitches to the floor and a stud in the wall.
>>
>>23378728
Same goes for any stickers on your car. Steal-me-stickers is what a friend calls them. Advertising you have a premium sound system or you hunt is a bad idea in my book.
>>
>>23378728
>You mean gun stickers don't scare off thieves?

>>
>>23378627
Well I do already own 2 safes but no rifle safes. I keep some handguns and $10k+ in silver and other numismatics in the safes. I also have other shit in my desk drawer and in random places around the house. I rent right now and I just don't feel like buying a massive safe and having to move it in the future. I'll pick up a large safe when I buy my first house.

>>23378635
You could probably turn that thing into a beast.

>>23378674
>Smash in, take 10 minutes to grab what their feet-hands will hold, throw it in the car and go on to the next house.

Which would just be a few rifles off of my rack. I have a lot more in electronics around my house. Hell, the source code for my company's software on my computer would fetch 100x what anything I own would. I have insurance and I don't really care.

>>23378694
I don't receive any gun magazines or anything like that. I don't have any stickers on my car. I'm not an NRA member. Even my mailman would have trouble picking me out as a gun owner. The only people who could pick me out as a gun owner would be anyone my roommate has told I own guns, or a neighbor in the immediate vicinity that might have seen me loading guns into my vehicle on a range day.

Why is that? I work for a fairly small software company and I've had my hands in all of the projects we sell. I suppose someone couldn't really do a lot with the software as we've patented a good bit of what makes it better than our competitor's, but it is our livelihood.

Not one of those "gun cabinets" but around here they have safes at Dunham's, Tractor Supply, Rural King, MC Sports, etc. for under $500 that are fairly thick steel and can be bolted to your floor/wall.

Obviously anything can be taken/broken in to if they have enough time, but it's 100x better than just leaving the shit out on your desk.

True, I have been looking into some sort of safe. I have my rifles hidden behind a row of coats in my closet and that obliviously isn't enough. Only problem is I'm renting a house so bolting a safe to studs and etc isn't an option. Actually not even sure if the floor in my room can support a safe.

I honestly haven't read a book in the last few years aside from programming books. My dad is a surgeon and he's got one of those sorts of offices filed with oodles of medical books. >>
>>23379226
That's where I am at. I have several hundred pounds of pennies in mint bags in a closet that I will probably use along with my ammo to line the bottom of my safe so it's immobile, but I don't want to deal with patching up the walls or floor if the safe happens to destroy it. I'm planning on getting a safe when I move, but just chilling while I rent.

They're all wheats. I got em for $0.015 each. I've dug through one bag for key dates, but I didn't feel like dealing with the others. A couple of the bags are full of mint state coins. I am just into numismatics so I wanted em. I figure if the US discontinues the penny I might get an alright return out of them but as it is now they're only worth about 2-3x what I paid for em and I plan to hold onto them for 20+ years. I did manage to offload a handful of them at 5x FV though. We'll just see how it goes I suppose. If I was only concerned with weighing down a safe I'd just buy a dickload of ammunition.
>>
>>23379226
I rented for a while and was in a similar situation. If I wasn't at home I did something similar to this
>>23378706

Hid guns in closet (only had two raifus at the time, SGL21 and franken-AR) inside the big zipper bag that came with my wife's wedding dress. Took out bolts, dust cover and spring from AK, lower from AR, hid them in a ceiling tile, though I think the cereal box idea might be better. Then I had a handgun that was always on me, and wife always had hers.

I just looked and can't find my box of 1948-1983 rolls, but I've got a mint state roll for every year from 1938-2013 at the moment. When they're completed, each set will be worth $14k. 1909 and 1914 are going to be a bitch, but they'll be worth it. As it is now, I have a dickload of circulated cents. Mine's pretty generic. It was from Centerfire Systems when they were $399 and came with a couple mags. It does not have a bayonet lug, nor did it come with anything to attach a sling to on the back.

I know gunsmiths can put them on fairly easily and I picked up a sling adapter for the grip I just haven't got around to putting on. I also grabbed some of the Balkan handguards I need to clean up.

I had my last place burglarized but this one is pretty solid. Between me and my roommate someone is almost always home and I own a dog now. I also live in a pretty damn nice neighborhood. My dog has gotten out a couple of times and both times a neighbor I had never met recognized my dog and brought her back to my front door. I live right up against a park where the cops like to stop during their patrols. So it's a very high traffic area for cops and the neighborhood. Motion activated flood lights around the whole house. I don't think anyone would be stupid enough to choose my house to burglarize because of all of those things.

Thanks. I think that's a pretty cool idea. I wonder if it would be more or less helpful, since I always here stories about dumb thieves helping themselves to snacks while robbing.

Are there any studies on the effectiveness in gun safes doing anything to prevent theft? I only think of safes as another preventative measure from someone doing something stupid, like trigger locks. If I didn't want someone stealing my guns, I imagine a safe would just scream "THEY ARE HERE, COME AND GET THEM" and it would be better to hide them.

Training pistol (.22lr)
Training/Plinking rifle (.22lr)
Hunting Rifle (scoped .308, bolt-action)
Concealed carry pistol (9mm)
Service pistol for home defense (9mm or .45)
Fun pistol (Glock 9mm)

Fun pistols/double-barreled shotty/fun rifle are for socializing with buddies. You NEED them for a social life.

Service pistol is not enough for home defense. A shotgun is better than it. An AR-15 is far better than either, especially if you're a weaker person than average. You need all three to be well-prepared.

Here's the third of my basement that's going to be turned into my gungeon.

I'm open to suggestions as to what to build. I haven't decided if I'm going to finish the walls or leave them bare concrete.
>entrance is already steel-core entry door (previous owner had an adult retard living with him, didn't want him fucking with the sump pump/furnace I think)
>the one window is too small for a person to fit through

Already plan on getting a dehumidifier. So far it's not too bad down there but it's got the open floor drain for the water heater.

The big, old table is a tilt-top draftsman's table. Not sure it'll make an acceptable work bench. Looks to be antique, may see if I can sell it to fund an actual workbench.

I need to put more outlets down there. There's only the one that the sump is hooked up to, but the right wall is to a finished bathroom that's on a dedicated branch so I should be able to safely (and code-compiantly) run a couple outlets off it.

Well, you could get multiple safes. But that's expensive and difficult to do.

Most people that have collections that large simply reinforce a whole room. This is involved but if you can do it yourself it will be far cheaper than 3-4 64 gun gunsafes.

Confirmed for never having shot skeet or sporting clays. Works for trap, I guess.

That said, I do shoot sheet, 5 stand and sporting clays all the time with my 20ga rem 870, but I tend to score about 20-22 less on the course (100 bird sporting clays) than I do with the 12 ga browning O/U...

What about the part where molten iron drips through the top and fucks up all of the guns and burns all dem stacks of benjamins.

>he thinks this is normal
>he thinks the other flags balance things out
You notice that look on peoples faces when they see your room for the first time? You know, that one person every three or four years who didn't heed the warning signs and actually comes to your home? That look bespeaks your disease, anon.

Please, for the rest of our sake, see a psychiatrist. Talk to someone. Please. Your mother is lying to you, it's not normal, it's not okay.

>appreciating history
So I can trace back my lineage to tatars, so basically the khans of mongolia. Do you think it might be in bad taste if I had a rotting head on a spike. (To my people it was a symbol of strength, national pride, and unity. Often the symbol even is traced to meaning peace.) I see no problem since I am simply honoring my history.
>>
>>23391984
JIDF please go. He has flags in his room.
It's not like he's walking around in a SS uniform shooting at jews. You faggot.

Hey man, do whatever you want, unless it's my head, then I will embrace my history and shoot you in the butt.
>>
>>23379283
I'll try to get around to scanning them at some point but it's getting late. Total square footage is around 4,000 including the gun room. Which I should mention isn't solely for guns but also 3 reloading presses, ammo storage, powder storage, etc.

This is my issue, I want a safe for my guns, but literally every one I've seen so far could be easily breached with a few common tools. Hell, some of them wouldn't stand up to a good wrecking bar. I've been having to hide them instead.
>>
>>23391984
Seriously, fuck off. Don't ever browse /k/ again you shithead.
>>
>>23392087
>Silver is actually a very good way of cleaning water
explain.
>>
>>23392115
Home invaders do not have the tools, time or skills to break into a safe unless they know for certain that you won't be back for hours, in which case, they'd be able to breach ANY safe.

Every single safe robbery I have ever heard of is the burglar stealing the entire safe because it wasn't properly secured to the ground. Keep that in mind if you choose hide over safe.

>in newspaper just last week where I live
>nigger breaks in to home while homeowner is away
>has one of the stack-on "safe"s
>nigger brought battery-powered sawzall because he knew the safe was there (was fucking the homeowner's teenage daughter)
>sawzalls off the hinges in ~3mins
>door falls off because the "safe" works like a HS wall locker (and is about as secure)
>nigger steals cheapo shotgun, 1 box of birdshot
>gets caught 2 hours later shooting a stopsign 3 miles away

Happens all the fucking time where I live despite having fewer than 100 black people in the county.
>always 16-25yo nigger
>always boning baby-boomer's daughter
>always knows exactly where safe is
>always knows exactly how to get safe open and brings proper tools for the job

About two years ago someone had one of the ultra-high-end actual safes (not a "gun" safe but like serious safe). Took a pneumatic jackhammer with him he'd stolen from the DOT and was in the safe in under 20 minutes.

>>
>>23392382
Yeah, it's fucking weird.
>smart enough to plan a nearly-perfect crime
>like, weeks of planning and shit
then
>dumb enough to get caught with stolen items by doing something insanely stupid with them
>like shooting at a stopsign in the middle of town for hours on end from less than 30m away in broad daylight

nigger-with-jackhammer got caught because he tried to rob a liquor store in broad daylight with a marked cop car in the parking lot with an unloaded, heavily-engraved Superposed worth more than everything in the liquor store

Exactly. In those situations, the invader KNEW that the safe was there beforehand. In which case, he would have known where valuables were hidden as well sicne he had the time to go through the house.

The average home invader is much more likely to accidentally stumble upon hidden guns than they would be to bring the tools to break into a safe and have the time do it.

god i feel you. not him but i'm a software dev that works at a major cable company down the way from my house. I do some web / UI dev from home after work on occasion but in general i do my 40 hrs a week at the office.

It fucking blows. On top of that my colleague, my boss, a few principle engineers and i are in the middle of starting our own business based on what we've been doing for our company. I have to go and meet investors all the time while they talk about how fucking rich they are, while we kiss their asses.

I wanna stay at home and work like i did a few years back while i ran a web design / IT company.
