Su-25 is the Russian analogue to the A-10, yes.
In fact, the Su-25 looks very similar to the aircraft that came second place to the A-10 in the CAS aircraft competition.
Su-25 is not so much BRRT as it is about carrying a lot of rockets and "WOOSHOOSHOSHOSHOSHOSH" etc. It's also pretty fast once it's fired all its munitions.
Quite a few Ukrainian Su-25s have been knocked out by AA in Donbass region, though. They're vulnerable :(

Also if one puts pilots with less than 100 hours of flight time into a machine of war, do not expect success. Ukrainian pilots are barely flight worthy by Russian standards, and not at all by American.

>>22841751
Upon closer inspection of most Russian aircraft you'd be saddened by the piss poor build quality and you'll never ever be able to look at them the same again.
I once watched an Indian/Russian (Sukhoi engineers) during Redflag go through 2-3 engine failures in multiple aircraft, all engines pairs had to be scuttled from different aircraft and the broken engines had to be sent back to Russia, because the Ruskies don't give/sell spares.
>>22860772
yeah unfortunately engines seem to be a huge issue with slavshit.
They tend to design them for incredibly short service lives (<500 hours). The American CONSTANT PEG program had huge issues with this, due to the fact that they had to learn how to rebuild the engine from scratch if they were to really test the captured equipment.
Other issues include things like the compressor blades shearing off into the engines at high Gs.
>>22841986
The su-34s cockpit kinda ruins it.
>>22842305
Whats going on in this picture is he stuck or something?
>>22842362
Pretty much any jet engine can be run using any flammable substance in liquid or gaseous phase, this is not a unique feature of russian engines.
>>22860397
Energy is relative, and far more than forward speed, it's also altitude for example (Ep).
>>22860403
Not more than an enemys short range missile fired in a way that they don't have to waste half their fuel turning.
>>22860510
>However, not in the way the gif seems to prescribe.
True, but it's a good high risk suicide maneuver.
For example, if someone is chasing an F-35, all it can do is keep going forward and fire AIM-9x. Then the missile has to curve around and waste fuel trying to maneuver for you. This lowers the range at which the missile can engage chasing foes, and any chasing foe can attack you well out of off bore AIM9X range.
However a F-22 or some other TVC aircraft can do a more advantageous thing by using extremely high AoE to slow themselves almost below stall, forcing an enemy to close range (because he isn't doing the same move) and slipping a few hundred feet below him at which point you lock on and fire a missile directly at his belly. The missile doesn't have to turn so there's far more chance you'll hit the guy at the same range he can hit you.
The key idea here is forcing him to close range. Without that, a higher chasing combatant can just plink at a lower chased all day at his leisure. Your engine ass is turned to him so he has a perfect IR picture as well.
The perfect countermove to this would actually be for the enemy to accelerate to max dry airspeed.
>>22860772
>Upon closer inspection of most Russian aircraft you'd be saddened by the piss poor build quality and you'll never ever be able to look at them the same again.
You are now realizing that a lot of photography of US planes is done as a photo op, and they're actually just as dirty. Because they're working planes.
This
>I once watched an Indian/Russian (Sukhoi engineers) during Redflag go through 2-3 engine failures in multiple aircraft, all engines pairs had to be scuttled from different aircraft and the broken engines had to be sent back to Russia, because the Ruskies don't give/sell spares.
Is a myth spread by colonel Terence Fornof, and it's basically a lie he told his intro class as entertainment.
The Indians were told to watch for FOD on US airfields, their commanders told them Americans like to litter and that the pilots would be paying for any damage to the aircraft. During that same red flag USA had more issues that grounded them.
