I just got my first bottle of sake.
>>
Ready to get wasted my dude?
>>
>>15499632
Why is the bottle pink?
>>
>>15499632

I think my local liquor shop has that. I still have half a bottle of some plum sake but it's way too sweet for my tastes.
>>
>>15499632
>Sayuri
Good, sweet, easy for light drinkers and girls.

>>15499733
Because its a light and sweet sake for people who aren't familiar with sake, its a western brand.
>>
>>15499895
Do you feel big?
>>
>>15499632
I'm not a big fan of sake. It tastes like moldy wood and alcohol to me. Like the smell of a bench in the park after it has rained. Japanese beer is decent though.
>>
>>15499916
No i'm pretty tiny with a taste for bitter things like black coffee and black licorice.

>It tastes like moldy wood and alcohol to me.
Like other alcohol the taste depends a lot on the price and brand there's a wine store near me that sells sho chiku bai sake which is made in the US compared to a lot of others it's extremely fruity with almost no alcohol taste
>>
I'm very fond of Dassai 39.
>>
I think Sake is only worth the cost if it's for thematic consistency of a meal. Say, if you invite your waifu over for homemade futomaki, Sake would complement the meal better than some dirty, American made wine.
>>
what does sake taste like jp?
>>
That's not real sake.
>>
OPs sake tastes like fruitcake to me.
>>
>>15501279
Like a bag of sand.
>>
What would /jp/ recommend as a good first sake?
>>
>>15501279
Since rice is basically pure starch, sake tends to be much less bitter than drinks brewed from other stuff.

It's basically great for people like me who hate bitter.
>>
sake is gross.

Times 100 if it's hot.
>>
>>15499632
do those get you drunk

all i buy are those huge ass sake bottles and pour it in a sake box
>>
fucking pleb, drink shochu or umeshu.

>>15499632

Serve it hot. It enhances the flavor.

>>15499934

You were probably drinking it cold. Sake should not be consumed in such a way.
>>
I always wanted to try out sake, but instead of drinking it straight out a cheap bottle I want to have the authentic Japanese experience of having it warmed up beforehand and poured into one of those flat little ceramic cups.
Is it possible to find something like that without physically travelling to Japan?
>>
>>15503014
>Sake should not be consumed in such a way.
Lower quality, yes, higher quality, no. Some of it needs to be served chilled, some of it room temp. >>15502880 needs to be chilled, for example.
>>
Who shochu here?
>>
>>15503044
Get little ceramic cups and a non-cheap sake, warm it up, and then drink it? What part of that is difficult and requires leaving the country?
>>
i bought a bottle of Yuki Hotaru recently, its the most expensive Sake you can buy were I live at a whopping $23(CND) a bottle. I't drinks very smooth cold, haven't tried it heated up yet though.
>>
>>15504920
Shochu is great, Imo shochu in particular is amazing and probably my favorite though I've only ever tried that and kome shochu.
>>
>>15503380
Room temp sake is where it's at
>>
always wondered but never looked into it, is there a way to get sake/alcohol in general online? I live in a shithole that only sells piss beer and standard stuff like whiskey
>>
>>15505735
Will pick some up when I next get the chance. Hadn't bothered until now as I haven't really liked what's available on the shelf here.

OP's came out very nice when cold; almost a sweet milk.
>>
good. now drink some shochu, m8.
>>
>>15509817
Stop killing yourself anon you'll die
>>
>>15503014
I always prefer my sake hot...
If I want a cold drink..highball!!!
>>
I keep thinking to buy a bottle of sake, but then I always think "you know for the same price of this, I can get a shitload of vodka and get drunk way faster.

This was my first bottle. It only cost me eight dollars, so I wasn't so sure about the quality, but nevertheless I enjoyed it.
>>
>>15522400
This is the nastiest shit I have ever drank... it's 90% nose-burning fumes and the rest is an overpowering rancid-rice flavor mixed with battery acid. It's fit only for homeless bums the likes of Kogasa
>>
>>15522400
this is trash.
But good that you enjoyed it.
>>
>>15522400
Truly awful, but I drink it occasionally because I'm very poor. I bought some Gekkeikan Black and Gold recently and it was pretty okay.

Ty-ku is probably the best stuff you'll get outside of an import store.

If jaypee lives in Toronto then you should go to the Distillery District sometime. There is a sake brewery there where they make and distill their own sake using traditional techniques.
I've never seen them working myself, but it's a neat process and they have good sake. I like the harsher kind.

>>15522400
Only use it for cooking purposes.

I've never had sake but someone told me it tastes like hair spray.

Izumi is good shit.

I buy the cheap stuff at Raley's and the sushi pack and get wasted.

Last time I talked with my dad about what he's been drinking recently, he recommended that I try to get myself a bottle of Konteki Tears of Dawn. It doesn't appear to be sold in my state though, so I might have to look into visiting him and seeing if I can find a bottle out west.

If you guys like sake try this stuff, Takara Plum Wine. It's a delicious umeshu and goes down just like juice, so it's especially perfect for those who aren't used to alcohol. It's excellent as a fruity aperitif or a dessert wine. Serve chilled or on the rocks, or mix it with soda.

Like sweet alcohol. But rather than tasting equal parts sweet and equal parts alcohol, it oscillates between the two while your drink it.

Your face does actually feel hot after each drink

Had it. It is actually quite tasty, but I wouldn't compare it to Sake, since fruitiness overtakes the taste of the alcohol.
>mix it with soda
cuba plis

>>15526237
You're making sake sound like a cult.
>>
>>15526323
Well, it is a CULTural staple.

The sake I buy in Kentucky is less than 10$. It's really sweet and golden colored, can't remember the name, I just always get the cheapest one
