What do you guys do so your vision won't go to shit?
I'm not talking about getting glasses for the first time, just outright fucking your eyes up.
>>
>>15454186
there is nothing wrong with combo scoring in taiko
>>
>>15454213
To my understanding, the eyes aren't like your knees in DDR or wrist in IIDX
The eyes will only get faster and better the more you train them, and worse as you get older.
If you're not playing properly, you can fuck up your wrists/knees depending on what game you're playing.
>>
>>15454186
yes, 3DS has the new scoring

I hate how crowns are separate between the two modes though
>>
>>15454222
How to not fuck your wrists with IIDX?

When I started my arms would get tired buyt I play a lot of high level songs in a row now and I don't feel a thing. But I'm still scared to not being able to play video games anymore because that's like my main hobby.
>>
>>15454213
Lower your brightness.
Smaller monitors.

Also, have a warm light lamp beside or behind the monitor. really helps. Having more contrast in a dark room really fucks your eyes.
>>
>>15454235

That's really a matter of practice and how your position your wrists. If you sit too low down from the controller you'll eventually give yourself RSI
There's a good reason japanese players don't really get as sore as some westerners; they stand
>>
>>15454232
Where can I change it? I can't read nipnip
>>
>>15454235
I'm only 19 and I've just recently absolutely destroyed my wrist.
I can't scratch at all, and I can't bar in DDR anymore.
I'm getting an ultrasound done tomorrow, wish me luck, but we all know it's probably permanent damage and I should just kill myself now.
>>
>>15454318
So it's better to have my arms going diagonally down than having my wrists bending almost 30 degrees/arms going diagonally up?

That makes sense since the wrists will in a neutral, straight position. I understand now.
>>
>>15454332
in song select, touch オプション (options) in the lower right corner and set 真打 (star performer) to 真打.
if the song score background is grey and there's a gray icon underneath your name and rank you know it's enabled

it's only on 3DS3 though, the previous two didn't have it
>>

So I always used to shit on DDR ever since X when they overhauled the scoring system and you no longer needed all perfects to get a AAA.

However, after playing 2013 for a bit I realized it's fine. A AAA is still an impressive thing to achieve greats or no. Plus, now the grades are in line with the rest of Bemani titles. Grading is like IIDX and SDVX now. I like it.

>>
>>15456278

Ah shit, I don't really follow any DDR news, what happened?
>>
>>15456295
The white number is just the amount of the screen covered by the Sudden+ bar.

It sounds like your problem isn't how long the notes are on-screen for (the green number), but how fast they're moving. Use Sudden+ with floating hi-speed to keep your WN constant, instead of changing it for each song.

(set your green number normally with regular hi-speed and Sudden+, then holding start, press VEFX to enter floating hi-speed, and find a comfortable WN without changing the GN)
>>
>>15456325
https://www.bemanistyle.com/2016/03/31/dancedancerevolution-a-released-song-list-changes-and-details/

AAA is unchanged, but A is now AA, and B is now A+.

Greats are worth slightly more now, and Goods now give points.

>>
>>15457034

How far down is that 15?

Doesn't look TOO hard but I've yet to step into that realm. The Alps included in the SVSE5 aren't really good enough for that level of play. Or at least mine don't seem to be.
>>
>>15457153

>>
>>15457738
I don't know about hard gauge but regular is much easier than SDVX in both gain and loss. Holds in particular give you a significantly higher percentage gain than SDVX does.

Score's pretty much identical as far as I know, but the timing for criticals is way bigger in KSM.

>>
>>15459042
why would you even mod a PIU cab? just get an upgrade kit for Prime.
>>
>>15458990

I've retightened my Alps' knobs three or 4 times now and they keep coming loose. But even tightened I feel; like they simply aren't doing what I want them to do.

I may not be very good at the game, struggling to pass like 6 14s on Gravity Wars, which by the way are hard as shit, harder than any 14 in Infection, but I know something just isn't right.

How does the sensitivity settings affect shit? I only set them like 3/4ths the way up the slider and forgot about them.

Also, are the very laser mechanics of Gravity Wars different? I feel like it's different. Maybe in the way the knobs "snap" into the right position as to give a little lenience. I don't know.
>>
>>15459167
The way I did them, 1.5 turns on the knob should be about 1 turn in bemanitools.

Your personal preferences may vary.
>>
>>15459190

That was absolutely it. Turns out my sensitivity was too high, if that makes any sense.

Tinkered with it and now it feels right. Now I am just regular failing these songs.

Also, what was the keypad combination to adjust the timing? 9/10 of my late/early criticals are early.

And also do these late/early criticals reward less points/life? I'm thinking this might be why I find GW so much harder.

Today was a good day. I assume surviving ≠MM would be the next logical step but fuck that.

For that other Taiko anon who needed tips for Joubutsu from the last thread, it's not actually that bad. The hardest part is by far the long retarded 16th/12th note stream about 40 seconds in, the slow-scrolling drum solo in the middle is relatively simple if you just break it down and practice and for the rest of the song you just need to find a way to not get thrown off by those nasty DK KD/KD DK patterns.

I don't really know how you git gud. I only discovered the series this January when I hacked my 3DS and I went from struggling with Muzukashii to clearing some of the more insane 10 star Onis simply through practice and constant play.

For me, Taiko is primarily about sightreading and breaking everything down into digestible chunks, and secondarily about stamina. It's difficult to explain but when I see something like DDK, DDK, DKKKDKD or whatever my hands just process those instructions into hand movements and inputs instinctively. If you've played bullet hells or games like Super Hexagon it's the exact same principle: you read and act accordingly, you don't think.

If you want to break into upper Onis I guess the most logical progression would be to first and foremost master 3-note streams like DDK, KKD, DKK, KDD, simple 5-note streams like KDDDK, DDKDD and simple but long streams like DDKKDDKK... DKDKDKDK... Mastering those patterns should be enough to handle almost anything found in 8 star songs. 9 star is just 8 star but faster, but you also need to figure out how to switch hands or stuff like DDKDDKDDKDDK... and 24th note KKKD will seriously trip you up.

I don't know what version you are playing on but three general songs I recommend practicing on (they might seem difficult/impossible at first depending on your current skill level) are やわらか戦車 (Yawaraka Sensha, see pic related - it's all about stamina), タベルナ2000 (Taberuna 2000, it's 10 stars but it's really a mid 9 star song) and 夜桜謝肉祭 (Yozakura Shanikusai, 180 bpm but has relatively simple patterns).

A properly modded controller isn't half bad though, and since it plugs into a Wiimote you can use it with bluetooth on PC for Osu/Dolphin/Taikojiro and other simulators.

Other than that, you have PSP, PS Vita, DS and 3DS to have a less authentic but still good time with.

the tt underlay is 9.4x9.4 inches and the button underlay is 9x9.4 so you'll need a printer that can print paper that large

You can probably print it on gloss paper at 100 scale and it'll turn out fine.

Ouch. That's pretty crazy.

You should have switched between games every hour or so, or had someone else to cycle with.

Fuck Pop'n. The difference between a 40 and a 43 is like the difference between a 6 and a 10 in IIDX.

why is it that every time a bemani album has a remix disc, it's always better than the actual album
>>
>>15474506

How'd you get across? Seriously. Scales absolutely murder me and you rarely see them below 40s and suddenly they're in every song above them.

All I do are really slow versions of them below 130 BPM.
>>
How loose should the IIDX turntable be?

After doing some things to my "FP7" my turntable is now super loose. Like I could spin it and it make 5 or 6 revolutions.

I've seen Youtube videos where it looks roughly this loose, but maybe it was a poorly maintained machine.

I kinda like it as it way easier on my wrist and pinky to spin.
>>
>>15474642
purely a preference thing
>>
>>15474642
It's pretty tight on AC, as you just need a slight movement for it to register.

A super loose turntable is good for EZ2DJ/AC, as it has you doing a long spin while also using all of the keys, so you just flick it so it spins and use both hands on the keys.
>>
>>15474642
on the several arcade cabinets that i've played on they were all pretty smooth, kinda like how you described yours..

how did you mod it?

my turntable is super tight and wont spin on momentum at all :/
>>
>>15474642
A poorly maintained AC turntable will be stiff, not smooth.

>>15474824
>It's pretty tight on AC, as you just need a slight movement for it to register.
Depends very much on the condition of the machine, also I'm not sure about new IO-cards but on older machines you need significantly more movement to activate it than on an arcin for example.

>>15475058
>how did you mod it?
Cutting out a ring of wax paper and putting it between the plastic ring and the felt is a common modification to make it smoother.
>>
>>15475058

I'm not exactly sure. It was entirely unintentional.

Also, what I did probably can't be, at least aesthetically pleasingly, applied to yours.

But what I did was remove the panel of black acrylic underneath the clear acrylic. So now the turntable sits higher by the thickness of that panel.

Like I said, my controller is quite unique so this probably can't be applied to yours.
>>
>>15475058
If you have a FP7, find the 4 screws on the top, under the sticker and loosen/tighten them to your liking.

Get a Hori tatacon to play with the Wii U, you can repair it yourself easily and it's sturdy (unlike the official tatacon) + you will get pretty much the arcade experience (=your arms will be as hurt after playing too much) since it's about the same size and feeling when you hit it. Unless you want to make your own controller.
>>
Ys ys ball sack. oonahgah. Share a melon? Go, beyond. Go beyond.
>>
>>15480274
Unless you're already a hardcore fan and know exactly what you are getting into, just get a normal tatacon for 15% of the price of a Hori pro controller and mod it yourself. The size of the regular one shouldn't be an issue unless you absolutely want a 1:1 arcade experience (in which case you should probably import a cabinet anway).

Modding it is extremely easy, cheap and reversible (if you do the right mods) and unless you're the clumsiest fucker alive there's little to no risk of permanent damage. My tatacon responds to light finger taps and I've been banging away on it for months with no signs of any degradation.

A nearby arcade is selling for cheap.
I live in Australia.
I've got quite a bit of money stored up (100K) that I'm willing to invest.
How does one import a brand new Museca or Copula machine from Konami?
We have the audience and demand down here-- The old arcade that closed down was much loved, and this one isn't played much because of shoddy machines and high prices.
I read somewhere in an older thread that Konami is willing to import and even set up E-amuse for us, but no arcade operators are willing to take it.

You have official eAmusement support, at least on paper. However, Konami's unlikely to want to start a lease contract with you as a person, so it's best if you work together with an arcade. Basically draft up a rough business plan, walk up to an arcade op, tell him you're willing to invest in a machine and lay out your plans. Usually arcade ops have connections to the major brands like Konami, so ideally, it'd be a scheme where you provide money and community, and the arcade handles imports and relations with Konami.
