Realistically most art styles go through this after being around for so many years. Honestly I think this is one of the better starter designs in years, definitely leagues better than Gen VI. It may not be on par with Gen I and II designs but they haven't been, for a long time. Compared to V and VI, though? The new starters are pretty cute, though time will tell on the evolutions.
