Sometimes the tile I click isn't the one that gets discarded, and it's really, really annoying when it happens. At first I thought it was me not paying attention to turn time, but it's happened plenty of times when I've had a fair bit of time remaining.
Is this a known bug? I'm bad enough to throw games myself, I don't need the game to do it for me.

>>15050434

>>15050434
It's a known problem in firefox. I switched to chrome for playing on tenhou and never got the issue there.
When should I call kan?
>>15050704
Always. But especially when you're in first place by 10-20k or when somebody else is in riichi.
>>15050614
Sounds like you're double-clicking
>>15050709
>always
But won't that slow down the completion of hands?
>especially when somebody else is in riichi
Is this a ruse? Most people have told me to avoid it then.
>>15050704
>Open Kans:
- Don't open your hand for a kan, except if it's dora and even then only do it when it's likely that you will open your hand anyway and noone else appears to be close to tenpai
-If your hand is already open only call open kan when you are close to tenpai, or you REALLY need the additional points
- Obviously don't call open kan when you could make use of the 3 tiles in your hand for a sequence + a pair as in 78889
>Closed Kans:
- Closed kans should be called late if possible, don't call closed kan as long as you have isolated tiles. Only call closed kan when you have only tiles in your hand that you want to keep.
-Don't call closed kan if you suspect that someone else is closer to finishing their hand than you, excpet if you REALLY need the additional points
- Like with open kans beware of situations where you could make other use of the tiles as in 678888 for example. If you have 68888 on your hand don't call kan.
- If you are in betaori and have only dangerous tiles you can declare closed kan to draw a new tile and hope that it's a safe one, but consider that you give your opponent additional dora chances this way.
>Late Kans:
- If the the 4th tile would be a safe discard it's often better to just discard it instead of calling the kan, if you suspect someone might be in tenpai, except if you're in tenapi yourself, then go for rinshan kaihou
- Remember the possibility of chankan, so don't just carelessly call open kan with a dangerous tile against riichi
>>15050787
Yes that guys was making shit up and told you exactly what you shouldn't do.
>>15050787
>slow down the completion of hands?
nah, you get an extra draw.
anyone who's too afraid to kan in 7447 should cut his peepee and be a mami.
>>15050704
In general? Not early, because you don't want to give others the chance to benefit from the kandora.
Sometimes, you're better off not calling at all. But if you're gonna call, wait till you're tenpai or 1-shanten.
>>15050614
>>15050434
I really have no idea why, but if I had to guess, it probably has to do with clicking = discarding the highlighted tile, so after calls or tiles moving in your hand, the hightlight might get stuck at a different place than where your cursor is over.
>>15051025
That's what it felt like, honestly. Switched to the desktop client now, so hopefully that's the end of it.

>four 4th places
Yea, that sucked.
>>15054820
Yea, free play is essentially ippan. Ranked and Cup play is far more interesting.
>>15054838
I don't find MJ-NET very interesting because even in ranked modes players aren't great, and tonpussen is a poor mode. Not to mention that MJ-NET's rigging is very thinly veiled.
>>15054848
The guy who drove me to the mahjong parlor meetup back in Feburary was convinced tenhou is more rigged than MJ-NET for some reason.
That feel when you tilt toimen
http://tenhou.net/0/?log=2016041015gm-0029-0000-969e595a&tw=2
>>15055004
Tenhou uses random seed for generating walls, several years ago a bug was discovered that allowed seeing walls so there was definitely no rigging at the time. Not to mention that the point of rigging is to make people pay more but tenhou is free aside from houou and windows client
>>15055004
Tenhou has few motivations for rigging and actually has some functional evidence that the wall is pre-determined, as mentioned in >>15055030
MJ-NET does not release wall data in replays, which is very suspect. If you've played MJ-NET for a while you've probably noticed that it feels very different than tenhou in terms of draws, winning streaks, average hand value, and so on. I also suspect that the reason they push tonpussen so hard is that it's easier to manipulate the outcome of since it's so short. A lot of japanese reviews I've read tend to echo this sentiment.
I have a question about swap calling on pon specifically. I read somewhere that you're not allowed to pon something you already have a set of then discard the fourth. I can't think of a single situation where this would be advantageous in any way, except maybe dropping a red five to reduce score on tsumo to not bankrupt someone, but that doesn't really seem like a reason for a rule to exist
>>15055085
Kuikae nashi includes that very situation with pon. But yea, the situation would have to be pretty odd for anyone to want to do something like that.
>>15055085
Well you may want to pon a red five without declaring kan
>>15055094
That's something else.
>>15055094
That makes sense too, but a situation where you'd want to then discard a plain 5 would be fairly uncommon

>dropping live 6-pin
Well, might as well drop suji 3-pin, when two 4-pin and one 1-pin dropped.
>>15065349
The 6 pin you dropped last turn was the most dangerous tile possible into a 7 pin riichi. Might as well dump the 3 pin now that it is suji, but you already incredibly recklessly considering that lead.
>>15065401

>>15065349

That was a pretty rookie mistake. I deluded myself into believing that the pin tiles are all safe and ended up losing this hand and this match as well.
>>15065445
With a 7 pin riichi just assume that the player is on a 36 pin wait until you know it's safe. Especially in ippan no one is going to bother to hide their waits.
yesterday got a really bad streak and got demoted back to 1dan, so today sat my ass down and played like a fucking man and got back to 2dan without losing even one match
>>15065443

Nothing is safe at all and it's south 4. Since it's ippan and you get nothing unless you get first, go for the win. Riichi the 3 man and hope for ura dora or that C is a retard and deals in.

>>15065559
Your only other option to try and win was playing the 5 man and hoping for a san an kou haneman, but discarding a red dora is a quick way to deal into a dealer haneman. As it turns out you started the hand in second and ended in second.
>>15065601

If one of the two tiles needed for double suji is in the players discard pond, or was discarded after he got in tenpai it's called single suji. E.g. if a player whi declared riichi has a 1s in his discard pond, 4s is single suji and a bit safer than no-suji middle tiles, but still pretty dangerous.
>>15065474
Can someone post the background picture?
>>15067575
6s is quite a bit safer than 4s because three 8s are visible.
Then again, 3p was theoretically the safest of all since the dangerous 6p passed, but it happened to be a 24p wait.
>>15067595
It doesn't mean much, in my opinion.
Having 1s in the discard pond only means they can't a 14s ryanmen wait. They can easily have 47s ryanmen wait instead, however. I've seen too many hands where someone discards a 6p or something after seeing the guy who declared riichi discard a 3p only for the wait to be 69p. If you don't have any safe tiles I guess it's marginally safer than blind discards.
>>15067623
I didn't even see the 6p, since I just assumed there would be no suji, as it would makes things too easy. 3p is best then.
I would still discard 4s over 6s otherwise, though. for 56 ryanmen wait 2 6 and 1 5 is visible and for a 78 ryanmen wait it's 3 8s and 2 7s. 2 tiles difference.
On the other hand you have a chance to get in tenpai with 12 tiles. and since you have tanayo you can even call them. I wouldn't throw that away for a measly 2 til difference between the 4 and the 6.

Of course. That's why normal suji or double suji is far better, but if you don't have those you have to use any information you can get.
anybody who says 3p was wrong is just talking through hindsight

Literally typed "mio little busters mahjong" and found in danbooru

Good shit, anon. Try to keep playing like that so you can get into tokujou!

question
In SegaMJ tourneys do you ahve play at least 8 match to advance to next turn?
Taken from Kindai Mahjong All Stars. WWYD?

Give up and die, because there's no getting out of that one alive.

I lube up and bend over.

>All those Akagi
It's super early, that 5 pin is only going to get more dangerous. Save the 6m in case you hit a 7 or wander into sanshoku. 2m isn't a bad play either, but I'd rather keep that pair for now.
>>15069776
6m. Akagi can go play himself and just ignore little old me so I have a chance at survival.
>>15069776
7s. 22m or 55p could become 222 or 555 later on. 7s is redundant because it overlaps with 456s so the ukeire already takes in account 5 and 6s.
>>15069997
6m is dorasoba. It's much more dangerous than 5p, as oya already has 4p in his hand.

Recommended answer: 3man
By the way, I won't recommend the game much. Quite tonpuusen heavy.
>>15069776
5-pin.
As mentioned. It can become a dangerous tile later. 6-man, can't give up on it too early in case dora does get drawn.
>>15070240
The hell? If anything that moves the hand away from pin fu and towards no yaku other than maybe an eventual sanshoku which you could keep with the pin fu anyway. If you cut the 5 pin first and then the 3 man the next round that would make a lot more sense.

Overall it goes like this
>it's still very early
>gonna keep souzu good shape
>6m is a keep for 7m dora draw
>comparing manzu and pinzu, pinzu can make sanshoku shape
>eventually, 2m will be the pair, with the only drawback comes from 1m draw
>>15069776
It's the very first round and you've got a good shape. You've got no reason not to go full speed ahead by dropping 6m. "5p might be dangerous later" is a moot point as most of your hand would be just as dangerous.
>>15070891
>maybe an eventual sanshoku
Now you're thinking like the JPML.
>>15071059
As much bullshit as they spin sometimes, you have to respect what people like Moriyama have done for the game.
>>15070240
I don't get how 3m could in any way be better than 6m, 5p or 2m.
The hand is 2-shanten and by discarding 3m you give up 8(!) tiles to get into isshanten. By discarding 5p or 2m you give up two tiles, and by discarding 6m you give up 0 tiles. Though, since 6 is close to dora you might argue that discarding 5p or 2m instead is worth it. But I fail to see how 3m is better than any of these 3 options.
>>15071575
You keep the chance for sanshoku, dora, or even both. And even if you draw pinzu or souzu instead, it's easy to go back to pinfu shape.
Point over speed.
What would you discard? Aćć called riichi with that east tile by the way.
>>15071800
Not much to work with. I'd go with the 1s.
>>15071800
8m.
>>15071816
That's the most obvious choice here so it's wrong.

>>15071825
Always fun to call the riichi tile to deny the ippatsu even if someone deals right in. Here it stops the mangan and cuts the hand value in half.

Yes, I concur
