Seems a bit early to bother making a second thread when the real one will be alive for another day or so. Oh well.

>Magical Eyes - RELEASED

I wouldn't bet on it.

>>
When you think about it, isn't it kind of obvious that the on-site preorders for Tokyo Babel wouldn't be so great, especially considering MangaGamer doesn't give Steam keys anymore? It's an all ages game so of course the bulk of the purchases would be via Steam.

Will this ever be translated? I'm pretty sure I read something about JAST doing it, but nothing really happened since then
>>
>>15002672
Makoto dropped it long time ago. JAST is gonna be history pretty soon, they're heavily understaffed according to their blog posts, etc. Only Aroduc could give you a complete answer on that.
>>
>>15002693

jast'll never die unless petey wills it. It'll just shamble along doing nothing

>>
Fata Morgana is releasing may 13th.
>>

1) MangaGamer did Princess Evangile
2) Princess Evangile is still pretty fucking enormous.
>>
>>15002883
Yeah, seems that way. Fuck it, I'm just gonna watch the anime.

On the bright side, I just found out today that 7th Dragon 2020 got an English patch. Been looking forward to this, so this makes up for no Aokana ever. Fair trade.
>>
>>15002672
>>15002693
It seems to me like Muramasa will only be translated IF JAST falls apart. Makoto really wanted to do it but set it aside in favor of JAST work. So if he were to be freed from that JAST work he'd probably still be up for it. Though who knows, he's a lot quieter than the other people in the community so nobody knows what he's thinking.
>>
>>15003000
The anime is fuckawful, no matter what you might be watching for.
>>
>>15003015
Sekai Project will pick up the Muramasa license and hand it over to a Fuwalator after a Kickstarter.
>>
>>15003020
I've actually heard some pretty positive things. I just won't expect an adaptation of the VN.

I think Gonzo is a bit overhated as a studio.
>>
>>15003032
Sekai Project won't do shit because they can't actually get the licenses to jack shit worth caring about. They are the gutter trash company, only picking up the industry's scraps and presenting it as gold.
>>
>>15003034
What positive thing could you have possibly heard? There's no romance. There's no character development. It's just a generic sports show about a sport that makes no sense and they make up the rules and supposed strategy in it on the spot.
>>
>>15003042
>There's no romance. There's no character development
You say that as if it was a bad thing.
>>
>>15003098
Then why the fuck would you watch it? The animation is ridiculously bad. There's no humor. There's very little fanservice. Help me to understand what possible positive things you might have heard about that pile of shit.
>>
>>15002916
I'm betting on Kara no Shoujo on Steam. MangaGamer is seeing that JAST is taking a while with Flowers, so they'll do a fast port to make IG feel bad about NTRing them.
>>
>>15003104
I'm not the original poster, I was just giving my input.
>>
Baldr Sky out tomorrow.
>>
>>15003175
During the panel they said they were pushing the boundaries on what Steam allowed for Bokuten, and ever since Kouryuu has been using the same language on twitter, so it's likely all connected to that.
>>
>>15003104
Let's see: humor is subjective, animation doesn't matter, and a lack of fanservice is actually a very good thing. More anime could stand to follow that example. So what we're left with is a good slice of life anime with a sports pull, and you can't deny that has a lot of appeal even if you may not personally like it. Consider that not every anime is made to cater specifically to you.
>>
>>15003229
>it's good because it has no qualities

Yeah, that's about what I thought.
>>
>>15003233
Oh, go eat shit, since your stomach's probably empty after vomiting up so much of it.
>>
>>15003039
They can get big licenses from companies looking towards the Western market and don't know where to begin, but because Sekai offers relatively little beyond that, Sekai ends up being cut out of the loop when the company comes back to do a second big title.
>>
>>15003255
Speaking of which. What ever happened with that Grisaia soundtrack situation? I remember Frontwing were trying to get the soundtrack greenlit and said that they never actually made a deal with Sekai about the Grisaia OST. Which would mean Sekai lied. Obviously it didn't get greenlit because greenlight isn't meant for soundtracks, but what DID happen?
>>
>>15003229
>the positive things are it's good and it has appeal

You're the Akame ga Kill guy, aren't you?
>>
>>15003262
What do you even do with your life besides sitting in this thread whining about everything? Because frankly I have never seen someone quite as pathetic as you.
>>
>>15002916
Obviously it would be a huge game changer if they got it through uncensored, but "barely censored" still seems more likely. That would still be a big deal going forward though to have a well known example of what is allowed on Steam beyond what one would think from conventional wisdom, and set a precedent for other titles to follow.
>>
>>15003275
Is there even anything that needs to be censored in Bokuten?
>>
>>15003279
It's an 18+ title with standard H scenes, some of which with plot importance.
>>
>>15003279

The porn?
>>
>>15003283
>>15003285
Yuri Ghosts has about as much and got through uncensored. What makes Bokuten so special?
>>
>>15003287

You haven't actually looked at the CGs have you?
>>
>>15003290
I have and I really don't see what the big deal is. Explain what you're talking about or I'll be forced to conclude that you're trolling.
>>
>>15003297

They're much more graphic than Kindred Spirits? KS only shows some boob. Bokuten has standard eroge stuff, penetration, body fluids, the works.
>>
>>15003287
Yuri Ghosts was about as tame as possible for an 18+ title, neither the dialogue nor CGs were all that explicit, which only bare breasts as far as nudity goes. Don't get me wrong, getting that through uncut was a big deal still, and shows that a lot of the editing for Steam releases in other titles is beyond what is currently needed, but it doesn't offer much guidance on what the current limit is except "at least this."

>>
If Dovac hates porn why doesn't he go after just all ages stuff? Like instead of Maitetsu he should have gone after Romeo's new VN.
>>
>>15004826
Its Lose who contacted him, after going to different localization company, which refused to do maitetsu.

People have wrong idea about dovac and his "success" at licensing. SP is getting so many deals not because they are skilled at negotiating, but because SP has no standards or risk aversion and accept stuff MG and JAST judged to be insane.
>>
>>15004849
>Its Lose who contacted him

this is probably true, SP made quite the splash with those original kickstarters and earned a decent amount of mindshare over in nipland as an english publisher.

>after going to different localization company, which refused to do maitetsu.

this I have my doubts on
>>
>>15004849
But Sekai project is the company that puts out the less risky stuff out of the three.
>>
>>15004826
I don't think Dovac necessarily hates porn, he just doesn't view having an 18+ release or not from the Japanese company to be a deal breaker because porn doesn't make as much money as Steam. Considering G-senjou didn't get an 18+ release, but Denpa has been releasing other recent 18+ titles, it seems likely that either the Japanese company wasn't playing ball with an 18+ release, or at the very least they were asking for too much. The lack of an 18+ release would have been a deal breaker for Mangagamer, and possibly Jast, but Sekai Project is fine with it. Granted Maitetsu is somewhat different, but I have my doubts even Mangagamer would want to deal with it.
>>
>15004875

Hmm, I can buy that then.
>>
>>15004868
As long at Steam allows it, Dovac will put the Sekai Project name on pretty much anything for short term income without regards for the long term image of the brand. Yohjo Simulator? Sure. Shitty VNs from all over the place that will weaken any expectation of quality? Sure. Unproven doujin team promising something they may not ever be able to finish? Start the Kickstarter. Potentially controversial title from Lose? Sure.
>>
April Fools soon, fellow stalkers
>>
How did steam react to the H-scenes in Yurirei?
>>
>>15005016
It's basically just softcore stuff like seen in lots of video games. They didn't care.
>>
>>15004908
But nobody care about G-Senjou 18+ release since you can grab the fan patch.
That's not the case for the second and third part of Grisaia (or Maitetsu) and that's fucking annoying because you can be sure that SP cunts will not release it at the same time as the all-age version. That's why i'm sick of SP licensing 18 titles, they can just keep doing their all-ages korean garbage doujin game.

On Tokyo Babel:

Day when people on steam can see some qulity vn with proper lenghts and not from 90x has come.
This is one of the few long vn with top notch voice acting, grand fighting scenes and rather brave view on god and immortality.
Story just doesnt stops. Each route adds stakes and increase its speed to the max. Routes are nit just pick the girl and get sligtly different story. Each of them offers completly different script.
This is how you make all age version without and pantsu.
>>
>>15008264
Why exactly do you think anyone would preorder it when they could just buy it on Steam? With Gahkthun, buying it through the site was the only option. You Sekai shills are getting desperate.

>>15008416
No, You just play from top route to bottom. That way you uncover all secrets in right proportions. So angel, girl and than locked route.

What Tokyo Babel really needs right now is a Steam review so that people know what to expect. I have a lot of experience with this and reviews (legitimate ones, not one-liner memes) always do a good job of moving copies. So which one of you is gonna be the first to step up to the plate?
>>
>>15009114
It's a joke you autist.
>>
>>15009131
>I have a lot of experience with this and reviews (legitimate ones, not one-liner memes) always do a good job of moving copies.

Lol no, it needs some shitty streamers to put in meme reviews so clueless faggots can buy it and then never actually play it.
>>
>>15009131
I agree. But I am not purchasing the game until/if I finish it and it's good.
>>
>>15009131
Why don't you do it if you're experienced?

>>
>>15009136
Send it to pewdiewhatever
>>
>>15009145

They'd need someone willing to review their shit first.
>>
Why is MG not posting in the Steam forum for Tokyo Babel at all? It's not like they don't have free time to answer questions. And the forum is pretty fucking dead. It's not like there's an overwhelming amount to respond to so some official responses would liven it up a bit. Seriously, it gives off the impression that they don't care about the game they released at all. Conjueror in particular should be there hyping this shit up something fierce.

They need to send it to the LostPause guy that did Princess Evangile, he basically made that one a success all by himself.
>>
>>15009157
There are plenty of people on r/vn who loved trial.
>>
>>15009176
But are any of them popular streamers? That's the thing. Most notable streamers hate VNs because it's just a bunch of reading and no gameplay. Hell, every single VN you get some people like this in the steam forum "Ugh, it looked so cool and then it was just a VN." I JUST saw one in the Tokyo Babel forum.

It doesn't help that all the news sites are scared to cover anything by MangaGamer for some reason. It's like they don't want people to know they exist.
>>
>>15009185
What streamers have to do with pre-release steam reviews?

I mean stuff like picrelated. Whenever SP releases big game, they stuff it with positive reviews before launch date abusing this "pre-release review" function, so at launch day it already has positive rating and looks like something people endorse to buy.
>>
>>15009185
Become an affiliate marketer then genius.
>>
>>15009196
>given to kickstarter backers

That's why. Seen any kickstarters from Mangagamer? Yeah, didn't think so.
>>
So if Evangile is a huge success, and Kindred Spirits has done twice its number, that means it is an ENORMOUS success, huh? Things are looking good for the Liar-soft partnership.
>>
>>15009335
>So if Evangile is a huge success, and Kindred Spirits has done twice its number

Steamspy-wise they're both within the margin of error of each other, so they're probably about the same.

Either way I can't see liarsoft being disappointed.

Mahou Tsukai no Yoru will probably never get fully translated, RIP.
I guess I should just learn Japanese then?
>>
>>15010150

It's a bit interesting that so many people are pirating it in general, instead of buying it. It didn't get a lot of order numbers submitted when it went up for preorder either, looking at the chart(atleast compared to yurirei and haruka). And while people did talk about it when haruka's torrent went up, there was a lot of pushback against it. Nobody talked about pirating yurirei.

I guess the /vntls/ chuu2 anonymous are less easily swayed to pay money than the porn and yurifag anonymii.
>>
Tokyo Babel fell off from "popular new releases" and now on page 17 of "top sellers". RIP chuunige, seems like only boob-bait games actually sell.
>>
>>15010239
>Nobody talked about pirating yurirei
Difference is that it took quite a while for someone to upload it too and it had been hyped way more than Tokyo Babel, both by Mangagamer staff and "popular" weebs.

While gahkthun didn't set the world on fire, it did okay. Especially if it's continued to make any sales headway since we were tracking it's numbers.

If one assumes sona-nyl can do similarly while at the same time having an all-ages version to bring in some steambux, it doesn't seem like a terrible choice.
>>
>>15010288
On the contrary, Corey. They're the only people who buy the games.
>>
>>15010302
Honestly, I'm impressed at just how well Gahkthun did with no Steam release. For a non-nukige, that's basically suicide at this point.
>>
>>15010250

Some food for though is that Tokyo Babel's current steam user count is similar to the initial peak of CDS back when it launched. If it can do CDS numbers on steam, that would probably be enough for mangagamer(though maybe not enough for willplus)
>>
Is Gahkthun really considered an otomege? First time I've heard it described as that.
>>
>>15010324

It's a /vg/ meme because gahkthun had a first print edition aimed at women aswell as one for men.
>>
>>15010379
How does that work? How can they possibly separate editions by gender when it's the same game either way?

>>15010385

Our first review for Tokyo Babel is in. I'll just paste it here.

"Step 1: Take Fate/stay night.
Step 2: Replace servants with angels and demons.
Step 3: Remove 90% of slice of life/food stuff.
Step 4: Add generous amount of production values.
Step 5: Add polished, high quality translation.
Step 6: Insert almost entire voice cast from Monogatari/Index series.
Step 7: Set pacing to "breakneck".
Step 8: Cook for two hours.
Step 9: You get Tokyo Babel."

So far it seems more like SMT's Devil Survivor 1 to me.

And in the beginning there's a lot of SoL and food stuff. Otherwise it's pretty accurate.

That's what I meant by 90%. Once the plot kicks in there are only ocassional comedic scenes.

What is moogy-dono's opinion on Tokyo Babel? The only opinion that matters.
>>
>>15011245

Considering that's the first thing that 90% of people checking the game out will read for the next eight hours, mangagamer should probably consider themselves lucky

Damn you EOPs, I hop no, or you'll be able to read further and know things like Collette not actually making the city fly and just being a sacrifice if anything happens or Melt dying in the second distaster or Lucius being Caim's brother etc.

I suspect that a large proportion of day 1 purchasing is more about signalling than immediate consumption. If a new product in an underrepresented niche comes out, fans of that niche show solidarity by d1p even if they don't really want that particular product or want it right away.

Pretty good. Writers tried really hard to emulate Masada so prose is grandoise and complicated for no good reason. Chitose is basically Kei from DI but with bigger boobs and more assertive. It's fast paced, has no fillers and no characters spouting cryptic shit all the time (*cough*Mercurius*cough*). Presentation and visuals are top notch. BGMs have vocals but they work surprisingly well. Protagonist is quite unique. He's basically a coward who went "Fuck this shit I'm out". He literally runs away when forced to give answer to confession. Overall I found it very entertaining but then again I have major boner for chu2 so take it with a grain of salt.
