-Maintenance will start on April 1st for Ooshio kai 2.
-Daihatsu Landing Craft (T89 Medium Tank & Landing Force) and Special Type 2 Amphibious Landing Craft(Ka-Mi) has been added. Both can gather resources from expeditions with less effectiveness.
-New upgrade chain for the Daihatsu Landing Craft, giving small bonuses to expedition gains that go beyond the cap and bonus damage against installations for all versions.
-Akitsushima and Hayasui kai can now equip Daihatsu.
-New 6-3 quest has been added with Daihatsu as a reward.
-New Akizuki-class spring furniture has been given out to all players.
-Kawakaze and Ooshio will receive their kai 2 remodel this Spring, another Asashio-class is planned later.
-Hatsuzuki can now improve T94 AAFD and 10cm HA+AAFD.
-Pola of the Zara class is ready for implementation sometime this year.

Well from an stats PoV the whole Mogami class is amongst the weakest heavy cruisers in the game with only the Furutaka and Aoba class behind. The powercreep has hit then hard and their only redeeming factor are the fact that they are CAV.

As a newbie whose only upgraded stuff are AP shells to +6-9, and akiguns to +1, what should I focus on first? I have no rare guns, and the only uncommon one is a proto 41. I don't even have a proto 35.6 yet. Should I try maxing out my akiguns, creating some proto 35.6 or something else? I have about 40 screws right now.

Proto 41 is one of the best guns at the moment. Do this one and work on getting 35.6 proto. You use 4-5 AP Shells in Suijou, so try to have four upgraded if it isn't the case already. Bumping Aki guns to +4 will definitely pay off on light fleet map.
No CA Kai Ni? Almost all of them have guns worth upgrading.
It's fine to upgrade non-rare BB gun if you lack better ones but try to give screws to something you'll use a lot.

Nah I'm not him. In fact I disagree with him on plenty of counts. Tone-class kai 2 may be best CAVs, but they're nowhere near the top in terms of blueprint priority. Abukuma being first is no question. In fact I would put Fusou, Yamashiro and even Bismarck above Tone-class. Unless of course compass rules dictate you need CAVs, but that's only for when you really need it. I can't remember any event that needed more than two CAVs.
Though given how easy it is to get Suzuya and Kumano from 2-5, I'm surprised he got Mikuma before either of them.

Don't bother with BB unless you have any of the below.
51cm - pray they will give them out again either form ranking or events
proto41cm - I think you will get 4 of them when you kai the kusou class and bongos
proto35.6 - you will get them from monkeys kai2 or some quests
38cm kai - get biscuit
You can always fall back to non BB stuff and upgrade these
3gou - start leveling kinugasa/mikuma
quint - start farming kitaooi
akiguns - if you nothing to upgrade, you can always fall back to upgrading them
90mm - max 1 it for your Maya
T3 sonar/T3 depth - you can always start putting 1star on them during your daily
AP shell - always fall back to AP shell since they only need 1screw if you really have nothing better to upgrade. It is good to have at least 5 of them ready for a suijou fleet

She gets ignored because her artist is dead, be that due to general inactivity or because they're at a secret war with Kadokawa or whatever, and her general popularity, or lack thereof, just doesn't warrant her to become a marketing priority, especially if her artist is unavailable. Ichiso is your best bet to get out of this vicious cycle by now, but you don't want him to touch her with a ten foot pole either. I'm starting to think that some of you enjoy the pain.
The only probably intentional bullying she ever received was getting taken out of the anime, but I doubt that Tanaka called Diomedéa one night for shits and giggles and told them to take out the blue one for the BD just to fuck with you.

I like Samidare but not to the extent of being disappointed by Kawakaze getting kai 2 before her. I don't think she'll get kai 2 before Sazanami or Inazuma anyway. And everyone knows that in practice, the starter privilege only applies to Fubuki.
I have no idea why Samidare's artist stopped drawing her, but I don't think the devs will let a different artist draw her, and they'll rather leave her without a kai 2 instead. I've always thought that the claim that everyone will eventually get a kai 2 was at best made in jest (it's hard to imagine Miyuki getting a kai 2, for example); I'm not sure if it even existed to begin with.
Regarding Ichiso as an artist, I find him alright. While he's oftentimes guilty of sameface, it'a hardly surprising since it's only natural to keep doing something that works. Still, it's perfectly understandable why Samidarefags wouldn't want him to do her kai 2.
I don't know why she was taken out of the anime BDs either, but given that it was just that one scene, and the QUALITY the rest of the anime had, it's likely just a mistake on Diomedéa's part. Still, I wouldn't be surprised if Tanaka wanted us to think that.
What I think now, is that Samidarefags have the following layers of hope:
-That this is just a one-off thing, and that the same won't happen to Harusame, Umikaze or even Yamakaze;
-That even if the above happens, Samidare's kai 2 won't have a different artist, and that it'll be great, both in art and in stats (what with that "good things come to those who wait" drivel and all);
-That even if she doesn't get a kai 2, Samidare won't be any worse off than Suzukaze, considering both are in the same position. If even this layer is breached, the best that can happen is that Suzukaze gets Ichiso'd first; the worst that can happen is that their artist returns, does Suzukaze kai 2 and leaves again, and then Samidare gets Ichiso'd. Hardly something to look forward to.
But for the most part, you're right. Let's see what happens next, whether the devs really are bullying Samidare, before we speculate any farther.

I'm damn happy. The Shiratsuyu are my favorite class and I would have been okay with any of them for the kai ni, but that my favorite Kawakaze got it is the icing on the cake. Especially because I never thought that it would happen so soon, she's a relative new trophy and has less rarer sisters waiting for one after all.

Look anon. For contact selection, The game automatically reorganizes all planes in your fleet according to their accuracy from highest to lowest. After doing that, if you have multiple planes that have a same amount of accuracy, it orders that from top to bottom, 1st to 6th ship (which doesn't matter because >same amount of accuracy).

Well, you had no problem claiming Prinz's fp is too high even though she had better guns. Prinz won't be getting Zwei so you should be comparing her to Japanese Kai Ni CAs. She loses badly in firepower and is only #3 in torpedo, tied with Haguro and Ashigara. AA Maya had same amount of guns as Prinz but she has more firepower in the game.

Those pictures of the destruction at the boss node in that shitpost collage I made were using north route. The evasion and damage penalty from north route just gives RNG too big a chance to completely fuck your shit up at the boss. The RNG sucks at the first node in south, but at least if you pass it you're probably good to S-rank boss.
Pic related is a south route kill, this is incredibly less likely north route with the damage/evasion penalty, and I've had this result or only slightly worse several times not just this once.

It's actually 3fBB 3CV unless you want to go through the subs night battle node. The problems with that composition are:
- Obviously, fBB have less fp and armor than the Nagatos/Yamatos unless you've gotten both pastas and Bismarck Drei.
- Your CVs have, individually, less power because they'd be equiped with 2 attack planes each unless you want to use a CV as a Reppu mule.
The idea behind the 1CVL 3BB 2CV with the CVL as Reppu mule is letting the 2 CVs reach higher power because they can use 3 attack planes. If you've got good planes you can reach 390 AA with ChitoChiyo or Junyou having 3 fighters + type2 recon and Zuikaku-Shoukaku having fighters only in the smaller slots: That brings the best chances for overcrit.
