Also it warms my heart to see another Sonic Youth fan on the jay
...also i remember a few threads back there was a guy who posted a link to a mega folder with a bunch of Japanese math rock.
Is that guy still around? It looks like the folder was deleted but if I could at least have the names of the albums that would be great, the only one I downloaded from it was really good.
BiS and テンテンコ's new weird experimental shit.
Sayonara Ponytail and Negicco. I'm sure that I'm addicted to them.

Been listening to PETROLZ's first full album that got released last year. The whole thing is really fucking catchy, definitely up there for one of the best albums released in 2015.

I read this blog post about one of her concerts a while ago, and it seemed awfully pretentious. The concert-goers had to dress in "winter clothing", and remain in complete silence throughout the entire thing. Sounds pretty weird, huh?
Either way, all of her songs are fantastic. I don't think I've ever heard another aritst do acoustic songs with a sci-fi vibe.

Cool, same here. Noise is oddly calming especially late at night. Listening to it right now coincidentally.
Also 禁断の多数決, a weird dreamy group.
Oomori Seiko's new album just came out so that's probably all I'm going to be listening to for a while.
>>14964241
I like TM Revolution, too, but his style isn't exactly what I'm looking for.
Then again, I'm kind of out of the loop when it comes to early 2000s J-Pop, as well.
What is some really good J-pop/pop rock with a male vocalist that isn't faggy Johnny-type boy bands? Just well-written Japanese melodic pop with male vocals?

I never understood the appeal with her music. It's just really grating to listen to. Gives me a headache. Then again it all comes down to personal preference.
I still can't get through an entire song of hers. She's a little too much for me. Still, I'll give her props for creativity because her music videos are certainly....interesting.

> Sekai Shusoku 2116 (Amazarashi)
Very nicely built album. Probably the best album composition of all albums mentioned in my post.
> Butterflies (BUMP OF CHICKEN)
Fine listen. The band is stable as hell. This album features some synths, though. Hopefully, their style won't shift to this direction. It's nice touch up occasionally but don't overdo it.
> #10 (FLOW)
Very nice album. The songs by FLOW themselves are mostly soft and nicely contrast with often heavy collaborations. Very good.
> EGG (flumpool)
Nice sound. I came to this band only recently. I don't like them that much but they certainly produce pleasing sound.
> Planless Perfection (Hello Sleepwalkers)
Fantastic. Listened to it only a handful of times but this is amazing album. Really like it. It also features bonus album full of demo songs.
> Secret Sensation (T.K. from Ling Tosite Sigure)
Nice mini-album. Songs are fine.
> Under the Force of Courage (GALNERYUS)
Fantastic yet again! I love this band. So good and powerful. Can listen to it again and again. Definitely a worthwhile album.
> The World's On Fire (MAN WITH A MISSION)
This band is fun. Its sound is fun, the whole image is fun. Songs are beaty, catchy and fun. Very nice breather.
> Yuki mo Ai mo Nainante (NICO Touches the Walls)
Fine album. Another stable band, you get exactly what you can expect.
> Fixion (THE ORAL CIGARETTES)
Holy, this is fun! Very memorable sound and hilarious lyrics. Will keep following this band.
> DOGMA (the GazettE)
Not recent but great. Too bad no actual ballad on the album but it's fantastic anyway.
> My Way (ORIGA)
Last single by Origa. Used for Harlock pachinko machines (this is becoming way too hilarious). Two fine tracks and nice farewell to fine singer.
These are just some new albums plus a single. Other than that a lots of other stuff. Which reminds me. Does anyone have Love Changes the World album by THEATRE BROOK and new Opera album by OKAMOTO'S? Would appreciate as hell.
Who Sheena Ringo here?
>>14978547
I like her music. She just never stops progressing. I mean, because of nature of her constant experimentation and progress she has songs or phases which I don't like but overall I respect her for always trying to do something a bit different. My most favourite piece by her is her performance of Saihate ga Mitai. This particular live-version is incredible and noticeably better than polished studio version.

>start figuring out the chords for Shonen Knife's Top of the World
>But, well, it's apparently a covers, so find the original for extra inspiration
>... welp, Shonen Knife ruined the original. It's not that Shonen Knife's version is bad, it's that The Carpenters' version is that good
And now I'm listening to and enjoying The Carpenters' discography.

Downloaded in January when it was released and subsequently bought while visiting Tokyo in February. I'm now at the point that I'm sort of burned out on it from all the listening I did for two months. Great album.

This has been playing on repeat since release. Absolutely amazing. I've been following these guys ever since Masked Monkey Awakening and they have yet to let me down even on a single song.
