Judging by their tweets, It would appear that Mangagamer's payment processor has dropped them completely. In spite of that though, it looks like there's still bundles out there(and a few paypal orders, I suppose), as orders are still happening and there's a top 5 for digital titles. Hardcopies, as one would expect, are completely blank.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Tokyo Babel if this continues to persist, as Haruka is likely to be delayed and mangagamer generally puts one game up for preorder as another launches. Will it wait until Haruka launches proper? Or will it just be put up for preorder on steam around when Haruka was supposed to have launched?

Top 5 Ranking: http://pastebin.com/uF32HfPm
Popularity Sort: http://pastebin.com/LJvSTMVW

As always, this tracker is powered by anonymous like you, so if you somehow manage to order from mangagamer while their payment processor is nonexistent, post em'

Is it even possible to pre-order from Steam without early access?

Man, MG took such a heavy blow with this payment processor shit. They're only making money from Steam for a week now and some retards are bound to take MG actions in bad faith and use that to spread bullshit.

Is it possible that the Steam keys fraud affected Kindred Spirits as well? I remember that MG unlocked the Steam keys on their site by the time they released the game but even so I suppose it's possible that the fraud affected this release as well.

I can't say for sure, but I haven't seen any super-low-priced Kindred Spirits keys on reseller sites so far, so I'd assume it wasn't a target (or if it was, not a major one).

We're not going to be putting anything up for preorder until the pay processor is sorted out.

I just hope the people who preordered Haruka aren't too upset. They didn't do anything wrong, but it'd be suicide to release the game to pre-order customers without a way for other people to buy it and Haruka's too important of a release to chance it.

Maybe we used up all our bad luck for the year this month... Haha...
>>
>>14807366
I for one am okay with the delay because I really want Haruka to do well. It helps that I have a few other things to focus on.
So is it coming out like a day or two after the processor comes up, or on the same day?
>>
>>14807366
Don't really mind the delay since it's really out of your hands. Still hoping it comes out within the month, as it is two big MG releases in a single month.
>>
>Haruka's too important of a release to chance it.

Kind of curious about this too. If it's a couple days after would there still be a preorder discount window?

It's just as good as any other shirt, except it's pink! Only if enough people buy this, we'll be able to sell you what you actually want!"?

Of course it doesn't fucking happen, because the majority of people aren't dumb retards. Apparently that is not the case with MG apologists.

>>
>>14807823
This is how typically goes with Japanese companies who want to test the waters first. They'll offer something, but typically not the titles that most people want from them. However, if that title doesn't do well, it likely means that they won't bother licensing anything else. So, while not ideal, buying Haruka will increase the chances of Alicesoft licensing the Rance series.

I gotta admit, I'm kind of impressed that this is almost keeping pace with how root double was doing at the time despite the fact that the tiers are fucked and there's a non-native english speaker managing it.

Dovac should clearly be looking to break into/exploit the female audience.

Still would put money on it failing though. Though I'm probably the only one following this drama.

>>
>>14808240
I'm not sure what you're even saying - I couldn't give less of a fuck about Rance. All I'm saying is that Haruka is even worse, and that MG is failing at even the simplest business logic, and will hopefully eventually be crushed by their competition, who seem to have a better instinct where money is to be made (by scamming the shit out of idiots, that is).

Rance autists believe that misunderstood statement that Arunaru later clarified, because he didn't actually know what went on in the negotiations.
>>
>>14808272

>>14808334

What Rance game did they want first though?
>>
>>14808358
Source?
>>
>>14808367
Fireden appears to be down at the moment.

Maria went ahead and pulled the Buy Haruka to get Rance card the moment Haruka was announced though.

Which she shouldn't have. Haruka can be sold on it's own merits and should be marketed on it's own merits and doing otherwise just pisses people off.

It doesn't hope that in the same thread she also told everyone that she never had any intention of releasing the fantranslations she'd spent a year hyping up.

Call people autistic if they want but bad public relations leads to bad PR results.

Also on a second point I still doubt that MG will try and go for Rance VI over the vastly inferior but shinier Rance 01 and Rance Quest
>>
I'll sure be glad when haruka is out so /haniho/ stops shitting in these threads.

It's a meme game for popular streamers.

Good for them though, it's obvious this exposure has boosted sales tremendously.
>>
>>14808385
Given how MG's sales usually go, I'm sure alot more people would buy Alicesoft's new titles over older games like Rance VI. MG fans love ero scenes, and the dated artstyle of VI would likely keep a big portion of their buyers from purchasing it. Plus, most people in the west played Sengoku, and would want to play Quest next.

There's a in game one and it spoils the previous games. Not to mention reading a summary is nothing compared to playing the actual game and getting attached to them.
>>
>>14808579
That isn't the issue. Rance Quest already does that.

Vanilla Rance Quest is almost like a fandisc sort of thing where half the fun is recruiting all the characters from the previous games.

If you never played those games then you don't care for obvious reasons

>>
Dharker studio did well in kickstarter. 1100% funded out of £3000. But the change from 1 game to 5 games promised probably is part of the success.

Clearly the demand for eroge is out there. It should just preferably be in the 10 dollar/euro/pound range per title. Sekai seem to try and abuse this with multiple 10 dollar charges for game + ero.

Hopefully MangaGamer can enter this lucrative market as well with some well chosen titles.
>>
>>14808769
Would most titles that would fall in that price range be doujins?
>>
>>14808787
The idea is shorter and voiced games, which would sell better than EOP on account of English VNs often lacking voices.

If it is doujin or plain small scale games from a smaller company doesn't matter. I'm pretty sure there are some companies who produce dozens of short eroge.

Ha, that's pretty funny. MangaGamer hated Winged Cloud's work so much that they couldn't stand to release it even though it was profitable. It's amusing that they were happy to partnership with Sekai Project again considering the circumstances under which they left, but I guess they had literally nothing else. No big loss for MG, but a bit of a shame since Sakura Santa's editing was actually good. They were the only thing that could have made those games redeemable.

Meanwhile Sekai Project's going through their own shit so I can laugh at them too.

>>14813242

Business contracts generally are worded to discourage one side or another from just dropping the other like a deadbeat boy/girlfriend without consequence, otherwise there'd be no point to signing one in the first place. The idea behind signing a contract to form a relationship between studio and publisher means staying within the bounds of that relationship, and if one side wants to get the fuck out of that relationship without the consent of the other, there's going to be consequences.

And even then, if you voluntarily sign a contract that "fucks you over hard if you walk up and leave", you have only yourself to blame for getting fucked over hard if you decide to, well, walk up and leave, and only yourself to blame for agreeing to it in the first place and not trying to negotiate something more transient and less consequential in the long run.

In other words, hi Dovac. Stop trying to spin things your competitor does and you fail to because they're a better company than you as something stupid.

Oh, weren't you also having trouble with credit card fraud recently? I seem to remember you having some choice words about what MG "could have been doing" about it. Makes people wonder how the exact same thing could have happened to you a heartbeat later, oh expert of business practices.
>>
>>14814082
I've heard from various people in the evn scene that dovac doesn't have written contracts with developers, which is retarded from a business standpoint. No wonder Winged Cloud was able to just walk off and take the entire Sakura series catalog with them.

Sounds like the person was writing with heavily tinted glasses. First of all, all assumptions are based on the fact that MG wouldn't want to release something of low technical standard.

This simply is not true for ANY game publisher in the modern world. As long as there is a profit to be made, ANY game will be released, no matter what.

With that in mind, the conclusions being drawn just sound like something a dedicated fanboy would say.
>>
>>14814291
>As long as there is a profit to be made, ANY game will be released, no matter what.
And herein lies why people like MG but hate SP...
>>
>>14814298
As if MG didn't release their fair share of shit games. Just browse their catalog for a few minutes, half of it is outright trash. There is no justification other than "we release what makes money".
>>
>>14814291

>>14814311
Those games at least work. I'm betting that anything made by Winged Cloud that has gameplay is going to be a buggy mess that will be lucky to run.
>>
>>14814311
Softhouseseal and Morningstar games are professional, commercial-grade nukige which do exactly what is required from them. Writing in SHS games is even fun to read, and definitely does not feel to be amateur.
On other hand, in WC games only art is on acceptable level. Writing there is horrible even by fanfic standards, these "original english novels" are full of "japanese" (author does not know Japanese, so its just typical anime lexicon) words and very bad English.
If you don't feel urge to murder writer when you see something like "Ara-ara~~, such kawaii girl~~" in 10$ "English novel", there's something very wrong with you.
>>
>>14814311
Having standards and releasing games that you don't like are two different topics, try to keep up.

>>
>>14814782
It's NISA, they aren't going to translate it. Just rewrite to get just the plot points right and throw in some memes and game breaking bugs that weren't there before.

This isn't even "People don't care about translation quality" anymore, look at the new Fire Emblem and the number of people defending it. People straight up don't mind companies rewriting stuff.

You better appreciate they're rewriting Fire Emblem because the original script is garbage. You're getting the superior version, dumbbell.
>>
>>14817140

I didn't mind the changed Soleil support, but otherwise I haven't seen anything to make such a statement correct.
>>
>>14817239
Well, I haven't really played the new game, but the original writing was incredibly boring and stale in the Awakening, while in the English version the cast had character and their conversations were actually entertaining (it was one of the few cases where I felt like I missed out by playing the game in JP, as with Vagrant Story and FFXII).

Anyway, I assumed the same people were involved this time, and it'd be pretty hard to make the writing more stale than whatever those hacks on the JP end turn out.
>>
>>14817374
Personally, I don't generally mind that too much, as Japanese writing is typically pretty bland, but I think Nintendo's Fire Emblem team and Square's localization team usually take things way too far, the same as NISA with its memes and cutesy nonsense in Neptunia. It's obnoxious and reeks of try-hard bullshit.
>>
>>14817140
>You're getting the superior version, dumbbell.

Disagree. Replacing an actual conversation with ellipses and blushing does not strike me as any kind of improvement.

Can someone explain why they have 3 editors and 3 translators working on this? And since when has koestl been involved?
>>
>>14820686
It's a simple calculation: Three times the manpower equals three times the speed. Just take a woman, for example: If one woman needs nine months to give birth, nine women will reduce the needed time to just one month.
>>
>>14820686
Probably for the same reason the original Japanese game has 3 writers.

In the case of Alicesoft, the main issue was their messaging. Seriously, telling people the fan TL you got them hyped for was never intended to be released as a fanTL was an annoying thing to do. Add in the delays of those projects and I can see why the Rance fans would be pissed. Of course, it's also true that the fan translators were never under any obligation to release those translations.

The issue with buying translations is that they would exist without the work of the localization company. People would rather they translate something from scratch than release something that was going to be released anyway.
>>
>>14821381
>they would exist without the work of the localization company
They already did exist. SP's only contribution towards most is slapping a price tag on them, patting themselves on the back, and then whining about how everyone keeps picking on them.

I can kind of understand how someone might think this is a good idea. At low levels of reading comprehension, you're constantly translating to english in your head instead of grokking in jp. But most people at that point realize their translations aren't very good.
>>
>>14822645
And they don't realize that coming to some random answer doesn't mean that you've come to the right one. They think that because they can guess at the meaning from a cluster of nouns/verbs, they always get to something that's close enough, which is straight bullshit.
>>
>>14822645
I only translated and thought in english for the first 4 days of reading in JP with dictionary assistance.
after that, I just understood it as I read it in Japanese. At this point, I do feel like I could translate and have things mostly correct, but I know that it'd be stupid to do so, since there's still obviously a lot of knowledge and understanding still missing.
