LN BMS Vs. O2Jam edition.

No I wasnt the person spamming o2jam memes a few threads ago.

>>14599505
I hate how LR2 highlights long notes that aren't being pressed if the note before them is pressed.

For example in your pic the notes at the top of the screen shouldn't be highlighted because they aren't even being pressed.
>>
>>14599533
Those notes haven't even been hit yet though. Literally every VSRG keeps LNs highlighted when theyre still scrolling down before the judge line.
>>
>>14599558
Yeah, that's the point, they haven't been hit yet.

Notes that aren't being hit shouldn't be glowing.
>>

I'm not sure i understand, if for inverted that is 11 long notes with just a little bit of space between them, that already exists I'm sure.
>>
>>14603031
Yes, but the space corresponds to a note.

So I think you'd hold down the keys the entire song but lift them whenever a keysound happens.
>>

>>
>>14602198
Pretty easy to read actually, notes are bigger and more distinguishable from the background than they look like in videos recorded with cameras.

>the issue is we're in different country.
Upload it to an unlisted fileshare and have him download it.
Then have him download the torrent on sows and have his torrent client point the download where you have it downloaded.

His download won't go up but his upload will (assuming he seeds). Aside from freeleach it is how people have infinite ratio. They don't care how you got the file as long as you're on sows, understand the implication of having said file, and are seeding (therefore helping future people getting the files).
>>
>>14604027
not him, but
>uploading like 30 gigs of shit to unlisted fileshare and having him download 30 gigs of shit all at once

How about you make your own private torrent of that, send the torrent to your friend, and have him download it directly from you? Delete the torrent and stop seeding as soon as he finishes it, preventing a potential leak (which shouldn't happen anyway assuming you didn't make the torrent public).

Much more efficient than using a third party filehosting service.

Why is Beatmania so difficult? There's a reason it's not competitive with Guitar Hero, and it has a lot to do with the difficulty curve.
>>
>>14604695
I'm not entirely sure what the fuck you're trying to say.
>>
>>14604695
because that's what makes it fun.

the difficulty curve is fine. some people don't want to completely master a game in a month like guitar hero and would rather put time in to something actually challenging and interesting. if you want to be an instant master you should just quit rhythm games.

It's an American cab, but it's in far better condition than it has any business being in. I was dead-tired when I played it and it's probably too difficult for me anyway, leading to the trash score.

Basically, I didn't have a single pad-miss in six hours of play. I'm pretty sure that's completely unheard of for an American X2 cab. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Keyboard? I think it's a great first step into rhythm games for beginners, but that's about it. I don't really understand how people take it as seriously as they do and get so good at it before moving onto deeper games.

At least it's better than o!m 4key
>>
>>14607366
There are only so many patterns you can do and hand placements required is non-existent.

So essentially difficulty comes down to just making charts with high BPM filled to the brim with ridiculous streams, jacks, and jumps. Even then it's a matter of being able to keep up with the chart.

That said it doesn't need depth to be fun for what it is. It's fun and it being very popularly known plus having a long legacy means you can find better charts more easily than say LR2. You just get tired of the game and move on to other rhythm games.

Even guitar hero has more depth from just having 1 more key (+ the whole aspect of strumming).

8k stepmania is cool though, not enough charts sadly.

Tone Sphere is a blast, I dig it. But yeah, this thread is usually just IIDX circlejerking, pretending the turntable isn't a shit gimmick, and whining about charge notes because apparently IIDX players still can't handle the second most common note type in all of rhythm gaming here in 2016.
>>
Is it normal to use a single hand for all 7 buttons and one hand just for scratch during heavy scratch sections?
Is it a habit i should be learning to do even at a lower level
>>
>>14608872
Most people play with two hands. Just do whatever is comfortable.
>>
>>14608872
Depends on the song. Most Mass MAD izm songs are pretty much songs where you play with one hand on the scratch. BSB the most notable one.

However you should make it a habit to at least be able to hit 1 and 2 while scratching.
>>
>>14608872
Two hands on the keys is how you play. There are some people who do a lot of one handing or do it sometimes for fun, but if you always play with one hand on the TT you're severely gimping yourself. The game has a very large amount of long segments with all notes and no scratches.

>>14608515
Not him but what offset do you use?
I don't even understand why this became an option in the first place, I mean, it's the arcade.
>>
>>14609513
If the monitor isn't CRT there will always be input lag. Usually people just bear with it and play, the offset does not really matter as long as you have a hit window that you are comfortable with. Changing the offset too much will cause accuracy issues down the road. Personally I use +1.7 which works for me.
>>
>>14609513
Not all arcades are the same. If you're used to one timing at a place and you go to another place it's very common for your timing to just be 100% off. Like from MAX-102 to A+22 800+ slow off.

However most people aren't from Japan jumping from arcade machine to machine in different places. If you primary play at one place you shouldn't be messing with your offset.
>>

>>
>>14609513
Not every arcade machine uses the same monitor, and people also just read the scrolling notes differently which has an impact when the timing is as precise as it is in IIDX.

I tend to read and hit things early, so I play with +0.3 at home and +1.6 at R1.

I'm having massive issues with timing in IIDX. Even when I set my offset to +4.0, most of my notes are registered as Fast.

Could my problem be audio latency? I'm tempted to buy a discrete sound card, but I have no idea how to diagnose if it's input lag, audio lag or something else.

>Even when I set my offset to +4.0, most of my notes are registered as Fast.
Then stop playing so early holy shit.

Your system might be "too good" and have zero latency (which would correspond to +3.0 or so), but if you're still hitting that early, it's definitely you.

Audio latency would make you play late if you were playing by the audio. Similarly, input lag would also make you play late. It's the lack of lag that makes you play early.

>>14616791
I think Virgoo isn't restocking until they get a website to sell their stuff like Dao.
>>
>>14617935
The whole company is lost right now.

I can't believe how comfy pop'n music 6 is on PSP.
I want another Pop'n CS :'(
>>
>>14616422
the genres in iidx are basically meaningless anyway

"Hyper Gothic Beat" "Happy Sadcore" and my favorite, "Pharaoh Beamcore"
>>
>>14619152
sorry, that's "Pharaoh Beamstep" not beamcore
>>
>>14619152
"Dance music of sorrow" is my favorite

any recommendations for a PS2/USB adapter? i want to use my USKOC for playing on pc but I've heard most adapters are shit
>>
>>14619569

http://www.amazon.com/Trenro-Dual-PlayStation-Controller-Adapter-2/dp/B000F6BGXY

I bought this for my uskoc and it worked fine, nice and cheap too.
They include a cd with it that has the drivers for the ps2, make sure to also install the one for peripherals as well for the controller to work

yeah that's true, just disheartening to see people who ordered a month after me getting theirs first, but oh well, might just go for a maxed out svse5
>>
>>14619810
have you contacted them about why it's taking so long? I've gotten a $100 coupon after my pop'n controller got lost in delivery for 3 weeks. I know different company but companies do try to keep their customers of a niche hobby with them.
>>
>>14620051
Virgoo is pretty much impossible to reach right now, they've been unresponsive for at least two or three months.
>>
>>14616896
1. stop using vernis
2. don't hit so hard
3. learn to roll

You get used to it.
You can't hit Green+Blue on the dpad, however you can map L2 and R2 to these colors, which allow you to hit them by pushing the stick up.
It's obviously really hard to pull off during Extra songs, but as long as you don't use random/use mirror, it's not that bad.

The game looks really good zoomed in, too.
>>
>>14622161
probably a stupid question but why not just play pop'n music portable?
collectively those have about 200 songs
>>
>>14622202
Because they don't have the same songs, obviously.

The PSX games have around 200 songs, too, with only a few repeats.
I'm not sure pops supports swapping iso of different games...
>>
>>14622341
...Turns out it works just fine.
Damn, Pop"n Music pre-6 looked like ass.
The playfield doesn't mesh well with the characters, and the combo and judge keeps blinking.
The playlist has also been made a little obsolete by PS2 entries.
Still better than Pop'n GB
>>
How do I unlock the ability to play higher level songs on the first and second song in sound voltex?
>>
>>14622955
play skill analyzer
>>
>>14622962
What level? The only ones I could find where like level 11 and 12 which I can't consistently pass but I don't know how to get good enough because I can't play higher level songs. I'll probably just ask someone to pass it for me.
>>
>>14622986
>The only ones I could find where like level 11 and 12
wat

left knob switches between courses
right knob switches between levels

you might be looking at the KAC only course or something, use the left knob to find the regular courses and choose a level you can pass
>>
should i follow notes with my eyes or just stare at a specific part of the playing field and perceive the patterns through peripheral vision + reflex as they scroll past where i'm looking at?

seriously?

i was having a lot of trouble passing Another 10s even though i can clear most Hyper 10s so i was happy when i managed to pass Wuv U, even if it's a pretty easy 10.
>>
>>14622986

If you pass like level 4 (which is pretty easy) you can play 11/12s for your first song. And if you're not able to pass them then you shouldn't be attempting to play higher level songs and wasting your money, that's why skill analyzer exists in the first place

I just googled it and found a list for Gravity Wars, Level 4 is typically an 11 and two 12.

>>
>>14624635
How am I suppose to get good enough to pass 11s and 12s if I can only play one 11 or 12 per round?
>>
I Hard Cleared Chrono Diver -PENDULUMs- and Sigmund†LEGGENDARIA today.
>>
>>14617077
lets meet up at round 1 anon
>>
>>14624657
Then do Skill Level 3 first (9-10).

Also, take another look at the list posted by >>14624635

When you play the game, try to practice the songs that will appear in the skill tests (or maybe just check them out on Youtube). You only need to pass one skill analyzer, so just pick whichever looks easiest. Some time ago I unlocked skill level 6 (so that I could start with 14s) even though I could only pass one 14 at the time. But guess what, that 14 appears in the 第2回 Bコース so suddenly it wasn't much of a big deal.

has anyone else dealt with hand pains because your hands get too tense during dense sections of songs? the joint of my middle finger starts to really kill me after about 30 minutes of playing challenging songs.

>>
>>14626060
Make a conscious effort to not lock up your knuckles while playing. They should bend towards the keys not slap around like your edward scissor-hands

>>14626974
Green number is how long the notes stay on the screen. Someone posted the formula a few threads ago but I didn't save it cause I'm an idiot.

I know white number is the percentage of screen that is covered (100 = 10% ; 250 = 25% ; 400 = 40% ; etc..).

I think 300 is like 600 ms on screen but that's just me trying to remember from faulty memory.

is it wise to remove this board on a uskoc? i want to spray wd40 into the turntable assembly below since the turntable is too stiff to scratch effectively, and i can't remove the screw holding it in
>>
>>14627366
You're supposed to cut a circle of wax paper and place it underneath. More circles for more slip.
>>
>>14627407
I'm aware of the wax paper mod, but as i mentioned in my post the screw holding in the turntable is stuck. It's already stripped and I don't have a dremel handy to remove it. You can see it on the left side of my picture.

can playing rhythm games like beatmania translate to playing the piano?
>>
>>14630675
Playing piano doesn't require good reaction times, only sense of rhythm and memorization of the charts.
>>
>>14630732
rhythm games aren't reflexes either it's muscle memory and pattern recognition
>>
>>14629422
More movement.
It's no surprise that games focus on the action now instead of the music.
>>
I want to make a dedicated partition for my rhythm games, is there some OS preferences or particular things I should be watching out for in making it?

Consider I want to play the newest games so XP may not be the best choice.

The mouse/tablet thing is pretty annoying. What are some good rhythm games that only require a keyboard?

So I hear Virgoo is RIP? I'm ready to buy a SDVX controller and theirs seemed better but if the company is going down the shitter then should I just go with the SVSE5? Any mandatory options besides Omrons?
>>
>>14631166
I heard rumours that they're going to be selling the controllers from their website instead of relying on ebay.

They could be completely dead though.
