v0 preserves just as much information as 320, but compresses it more intelligently. (v0 IS a transparent format, after all.) The reason why people often use 320 is that it's the default setting in many old programs and because people see other people do it and don't know any better.
I've been working with CD rips and audio formats for many years. Please be open to new information, look up the difference yourself, and then try to be more amicable.

FLAC on the other hand is always save. I prefer to download FLACs, and sometimes I batch encode them to a format of my choice with a setting of my choice. That way I never have to wonder whether the MP3 files I download are actually a crappy 128kbs encode.

Opus is royalty free and the reference decoder is permissively licensed, so adoption is skyrocketing. Old mp3 players, sure, you'll want mp3 for those, but the DACs in REALLY old ones are very bad so you might as well transcode to 160k-ish variable mp3 since quality is already forfeit.

"Download credits" are piss easy to get. You get 1 credit per 10mb for selfrips. The harder ones are where there are other restrictions on the download, other than the cost, such as on the disc score, or even on the love score.

I, for one, use megatools. With links as have been posted in this thread, downloading just spits out a bunch of files in the current directory. If people aren't going to bundle up albums before posting them, please at least post links to something one directory above the files. That way when I download 20 albums, I don't end up with ~100 tracks jumbled in one directory.

This is just about conventions. Courteous creators of torrents ensure that all the files of the torrent are packaged together. You don't blame your torrent program when the creator of the torrent doesn't organize the files correctly. It's been accepted practice on the internet for longer than the web has existed to provide files in a categorized manner. In fact, not doing so has been considered malicious (see ‘tarbombing’).

When you install the game, it has a "secret.zip" file inside the game folder that has 5 songs in it, but it's passworded. I assume you get the password from beating the game, but beating it didn't show me anything that was recognizable as a password. Does anyone know how to get these files?

Try SHIFT_JISx0213, SJIS-OPEN, and SJIS-WIN. They'll probably produce exactly the same result, but there's a tiny chance that that ‘illegal encoding’ is a character that differentiates SHIFT_JIS from one of the almost-but-not-quite-SHIFT_JIS that sometimes show up.
