"how to draw" stuff is only helpful if you CAN actually draw. If you're shit at art, no amount of practice or guides can ever help you.

How to draw stuff is actually helpful for starters since it teaches them the basic process of how the magic is done.

If this is some sort of joke, then 2abstract4me.

What I meant was this; consider this scenario:

Guy A practices drawing for 1 year. Each time he practices, his skill increases by a small amount. His ability to draw has evolved from nothing to something that is at least halfway decent. Despite having a long way to go before he can consider himself skilled, progress has been made.

Guy B practices drawing for 1 year. Each time he practices, his skill increases by a small amount. His skill stops increasing after 1 month of practice, and despite doing a year of practice, can barely do more than stick figures.

What I am referring to is natural talent. Nobody can draw Sistine Chapel tier stuff after a couple days of practice, of course, but some people simply cannot into art; myself included, despite all the time I've spent trying to get better.
>>
>>14535113
Realism in art can be done by anyone via following proper guides (Loomis/vilppu), and proper exercises (left brain/basic shapes/figure/form/tone). Once you have fundamentals, then you may begin working on style. People with natural talent can skip the first part and produce sub par realism or stylized art, however they will never reach the point of the one who practiced.

This is the only instance i can think of where 'natural talent' plays in. Almost every case of a truly great artist comes from following the right method. You may not become Kim jung gi, but you're crazy to think most great artists didn't start with months of stick figures. Youre actually better off than someone with natural talent, because that means you haven't ingrained any bad habits.

I took 1-2 minutes to edit your drawing to make her look a little bit better, if you want more edits tell me.

>>
>>14536699
Sorry if I made you feel this way, I just wanted to look caring and maybe even help you to improve.
It could be actually a good way to get better.

Don't get discouraged, just stay humble, and remember that art is subjective and that even the most skilled master continues to learn every day.
>>
Start by learning the fundamentals of drawing. Learn to be able to look at something and at least be able to draw a semblance of it. If you're trying to pull stuff from your head it's going to be difficult to put it on paper. This is why people practice drawing people or day to day objects. It just fine tunes your ability to use your hands correctly to convey the lines you want. Just spend time looking at stuff and drawing them. Look at a picture of reimu while you draw and try to draw it. Maybe try looking at people in the pose you want to draw, cloth posed in certain bends. There's plenty you can do really to get better.

>>14536740
But it's really embarrassing to suck that much at drawing at first

Especially when you spend all your time looking at the godlike stuff Japan puts out. Makes it feel pointless to even try. Being a perfectionist with no talent sucks.

I can't help your autism but not giving up is the only solution.
>>
>>14536715
I'll add something to my previous message and say that I like to encourage and help people who interest themselves in art, so if you have any question or need any kind of help, feel free to ask.

>>14536740 is right, I'll even add that there is 2 ways to improve, either you try to "copy" things to understand how things work, or you try to get good anatomical notions, and try to create your own things if you have a good artistic sense and notion of proportions and human body.

You may also want to use "construction lines" first, if you don't use construction lines when you draw, it's pretty risky, only very experienced drawers don't use constructions lines.

Basically, you need to imagine a skeleton first, in a given position, then muscles, fat, skin and clothes over it.

You still don't need to "compare yourself" with big artists, like I said, every creation is unique and can be appreciated individually.
To me, the most important thing is to try to be creative and make your own things, feel pleasure while doing it, and not try to brag about it or show it off like all the autists you see on deviantart.
(And in general, it's also good to have your own style and don't try to "copy mangas" because "japanese/anime hype", it's very visible and obvious when these people try to draw in a style they don't even master.)
>>
>>14536868
>draw skeleton >muscles >fat >clothes
no this is retarded and makes it complicated because you're spending time drawing what you don't really see. This may work for someone who is skilled but this person clearly isn't at that level yet.

Instead or calling other people's advice "retarded", why don't you try to be constructive or help this guy.

When they talk about "drawing skeleton", no one said you must draw each bones in detail, it's in your head or with simple construction lines to have a general idea of volumes. And this is exactly what helps beginners and helps them to avoid perspective and proportion mistakes, as well as anatomy mistakes.
You make yourself look stupid now.

if by draw a skeleton you mean use basic shapes to create the body then yeah that works. It's as if you don't draw and just think this applies. Still not something a new person at drawing should try to do right away. I already gave advice in this thread, what your trying to provide isn't very useful is what I was trying to get at. I'll upboat you since you seem to care about karma for some reason.

don't get discouraged OP. I was pretty often about to give up hope but in the end it's all practice. don't get disheartened if you see something drawn well, take it as inspiration instead and tell yourself you'll be skilled like that someday too. I'm a beginner myself and for instance i had a really hard time getting neck and shoulders done. I kept at it and slowly but for sure they start looking decent. don't give up and good luck!
