Please help.
I have a huge gap between what I like to read and what I like to write.

I have a lot of fun writting and drawing horror and depressing stuff. But I hate reading gloomy things.

I love watching cute girls doing silly things, but writting and drawing them feels like pulling teeth.

Should I keep doing what I have a natural ease to, or struggle against the current?
>>
>>14456277
Sounds like you're broken inside, why not go for something Megukalike and enjoy doing both? Maybe that can even help you discover how to do sugary things for in the future writing something truly cute.

>but if I wanted to make X which program should I use?
A good composer can make good music even with shoddy software, so unless you wanna do something in a specific format like with a tracker, what you use shouldn't matter. Search for DAWs and choose the one that looks most comfortable. If you're worried about the composition, that's a different matter.
>>
>>14474789
I don't even know what any of those words mean. I'm never going to get anywhere.
>>
>>14474807
What word didn't you understand? A DAW is like a photoshop for music, except it doesn't really make music by itself. If you don't know what's a tracker, it doesn't matter. You can google all of this. If you want something that's easy, fast and lightweight in every sense but functionality, try REAPER. Also, search videos on how people use these things.
>>
>>14474812
Not him, but how do I come up with melodies without copying others? I'm not a musician, just a programmer. I'm looking at the basics of music theory and I'm getting what chords sound good together but I still don't understand how to put something together. I might be using the wrong words too, it could be harmony that I'm looking to create. I can probably put together some decent basic drum beats but that's about as musical as I can go.
>>
>>14474853
>Not him, but how do I come up with melodies without copying others?
I do it in two ways. One is to make arbritary choices based on theory. It sounds ok, but if you're not careful it's easy to make it sound directionless. The other way is just letting the music flow, that means playing a few notes and let your brain fill the rest.
This is a really nice book with sound examples that play if you click the sheets. It doesn't explain what chords to use or why because that's another matter.

Ring finger length is dependent on the amount of testosterone one got in the womb, which means it's more common with men than women, but the difference is usually very small. This doesn't necessarily imply masculinity if a woman has a longer ring finger, and vice-versa. There's plenty of people with a longer index finger than their ring finger.
That said, I presume they tried foreshortening with the fingers but it doesn't read well.

I think it looks like just a rather regular western comic. Doesn't really belong on this board in its current form.

The only even remotely Japanese/otaku-ish thing about the whole thing is the main characters facial features, and even then not really.

Indie doesn't mean the same thing as doujin or independent anymore. Doujin is independent but "indie" things tend to be some tripe published through steam and has more the connotations of just not being big name/AAA studios that made it. Their use of crowd funding and steam greenlight and such kind of takes away from their true doujin aspect.

>>14483737
Okay. Call me naive, but I believe in the jay.
Actually after looking around a bit harder, I found an image that is almost what I imagined. It is dated though and a more modern outlook on it would be spectacular. I want to see how a /jp/sie would envision Liberty Leading the People with their favorite character (or waifu, I dunno) and embodying miscellaneous things from modern Otaku Culture. If you don't have a favorite, Kinomoto Sakura is fine, too. Image posted is probably a great example of it a few years or decades back. The only thing in specific I would personally like though is that "Liberty" holds a flag, of any pattern, as long as its not some sort of trademarked logo or anything (In /jp/ though, my image of a flag is the programming/eroge boolean flag). If you're out of ideas or don't know where to start I can type out a more detailed scenario, but in a way I want to see the artist's creativity and what they think Otaku Culture means in the present time through their rendition of that painting.

>>14483760
Thanks, lurked around a bit but it's probably not what I'm really looking for and/or they wouldn't be able to help me anyways with how off-sync they seem to be from this board's culture. I just mentioned my intent in case someone actually takes the idea up knows what I would be doing with it.
>>
>>14484045
That kind of otaku culture is dead. When's the last time there was some memorable character who would last for decades? When's the last time people cared about anime deeper than this season's fap material? 2hu and kancolle are probably the last legs even holding up otaku culture.

>someone actually takes the idea up knows what I would be doing with it.

>crowd funding and steam greenlight and such kind of takes away from their true doujin aspect.
You are wrong. Selling digital copies (unlimited residual profit) is what takes away the doujinshi aspect of it - and this is a practice adopted by lots of actual circles.

If someone funds a game via crowdfunding but distributes/sells copies only at cons, I think it still qualifies as doujinshi.

The thing about doujin is enterprises don't want people making infinite profit upon their Intelectual Property, so they label cons as acceptable exceptions to be held few times a year, for a small-scale profit.

When you e-sell it, you are making perennial profit from it, and this is no different than becoming a competitor to the brand you're basing your works on.

I wonder if copyright holders are against fan material being offered online for free, though. I believe not.
>>
>>14484087
>That kind of otaku culture is dead.
That's true if you only take in consideration modern day nips and most recent western anime watchers, that are nothing else that the result of masscultureification of nerdism for the most mainstream, casual audience.
most ips that have reasonably decent values will carve a special place in the heart of a small group of individuals that will never abandon that particular series. otaku culture is just another natural behavior of human kind, the fact that its back in the unfathomable sea of non-profitable numbers where it came from doesn't really means that its dead. we regard second generation otaku as founders of otaku culture as we intend it, but they were a surrogate of something else, that persisted and still persist today independently.
>>
>crowd funding and steam greenlight and such kind of takes away from their true doujin aspect.
I never thought about it until now. the only true fact we can associate with this is that every kind of integralism only leads to defeat and turns the culture that attempted to protect into a recessive factor of whatever it gets absorbed into.
>>
>>14484045
most artists here are unqualified to draw something like that.
probably some people like that guy that draws pixar lolis and I guess comes here exclusively to advertise would be a better alternative, but making social network happy people like that draw it would be like printing the flyers of an anti-deforestation campaign on paper made exclusively from amazon trees

Hi /jp/, magical girl/war/politics writefag here, from a couple or so threads ago.

Right now, I'm writing a specific event that takes place in the story, for the first time, in depth, with all of what the anon who requested autism and tacticool would want, hopefully.

Leading to it, I thought it would be interesting to introduce the sides involved in the conflict first.

I hope you guys read the summary, at least. I'll put it here, just in case - http://pastebin.com/S8xpaMya

The timelines of the story is split in two parts, demarcated by a de-facto cease-fire between the belligerents after the war ground into a defensive halt for both sides.

The event I mentioned above is precisely the last and fiercest event before this cease-fire, one can argue, the reason for the cease-fire in the first place.

The two primary belligerents involved in the conflict are The Kingdom of Royal Azalea and the Confederacy of Firebrand.

Royal Azalea was a minor power not too long ago, but due to its growing economic power and its knack for political influence and espionage, managed to grab the better part of the former colonies of the dying Arian Empire for itself.

The Confederacy of Firebrand was nothing more than a cluster of backwater colonies (the 3rd world, as we know it) that were under the repressive rule of the Arian Empire until the martyrdom of the eponymous Firebrand quickly set all of the colonies ablaze in revolutionary fervor, turning them into what is now the Confederacy, ruled by a Theocracy which has formed itself around the martyrdom of Firebrand.

What I have written for you, right now, is a detailed look at one of the parts of the Confederacy that had an important in the "event" - The Confederate Inquisition and the Inquisitors Of Firebrand.

Here: http://pastebin.com/7RxYtUK1

Summary in the next post. I might also post some concept sketch sometime... but don't wait for it.

Oh, but before that, I should point out that the story is set in the time scale of (our) the early-mid 1900's, with deviations here and there. These people aren't playing with swords (yet), basically, if you're wondering.

Anyway, the summary of "The Confederate Inquisition and the Inquisitors Of Firebrand":

The Inqisition, as you would expect from the name, is the hand of the Confederacy when it comes to the official faith. They are primarily tasked to spread the faith in Firebrand, reinforce it, and defend it from unbelief.

There are officially two branches and duties of the Inquisition.

The first and largest part is the Evangelical Mission. Its members retain their former titles after joining, and are tasked with the most important duty of the Inquisition, to spread the faith of Firebrand and to attend to the most important spiritual needs of the citizens of the Confederacy when the regular religious order cannot perform it.

The second is the Inquisitors of Firebrand. They are the opposite of the Evangelical Mission. They are a small number of zealots that are expected to join combat; equipped with the heaviest armor in the Confederacy and are expected to have an expertise in at least Barrier Craft magic, to complement the physical armor. Furthermore, They are all equipped with Flamethrowers and several full tanks of Holy Water - a potent mix of flammable chemicals and powdered magic.

At first however, the role of the Inquisitors within the Confederacy was purely ceremonial. Their intimidating facade easily inspired the faithful of Firebrand, and compelled the rest into submission. However, this immediately changed after the infamous Sprint to the River Vire.

It's not allowed but companies have better things to do than go after fans making free things, especially when most won't amount to anything.

Unless you're treading on Konami/Capcom property, in which case you can expect a C&D if they get word of it.

That's a difficult question. I want to try to draw a neat idea, something interesting or intriguing to look at. However, there are whole classes of visual problems that I want to explore that I'm just not skilled enough to articulate so I stick with conceptual ideas. Typically, what I make starts off as a response to something in the thread and then I try to develop it into a full idea.

>>14512855
Sort of; the bull should be about to shake its neck violently, so it's not a strong forward push anymore. It doesn't work out, though, because of weak perspective and no idea of what that pose would really be. Probably should've tried for the impact point instead.
