As long as there are no other translations that are even on par with the old messy translation, there's no point in supporting anyone but SP (unless you know the language). I'd rather have known competence (even if it's not the greatest) than take a risk by supporting some upstarts who are almost certainly going to make even bigger mistakes.
Buying the original is still the best option, but the lower price, the added perks and the improved translation of the Steam version are also worth considering even if buying it doesn't support Key as much.

I found it to be one of the best ones solely because it's one of the few routes where Kyou fucks up massively and you get to see what she's like when she doesn't even know how to proceed. The whole 'on equal terms' thing with Tomoya works wonderfully considering their highly similar personalities and mentalities and their great understanding (though to a fault in Kyou's case) of what those around them think and feel.
Plus, compared to the adaptation, she's much more of an approachable dick in the VN and she's sweet as fuck, and the route reflects that too. Her AS self is still the best by a country mile though.
