Stage 1 = UN partition plan. Israel accepted, Arabs declined. Before this, it was the British Empire, not Palestine.

It's not to say they dislike him or want the monarchy to go away, it's just that they don't care about his daily affairs so much. I think it's quite unlike in the UK, where support for the monarchy is generally quite high and people follow the royals.

I did a "culture exchange" thing at school, the art teacher brought in a Japanese friend and he taught us how to draw kanji with brushes. I liked it, it's a nice change from a pen and looks stylish somehow.
He handed out diagrams of how to draw the kanji because they're different from the plain handwriting. Are there any sites that have these diagrams for download? I think there must be for Japanese schoolkids to study, but I don't know what search terms to use.
