Ok let me break down a few key points fast.
The macedonian identity was formed not as a result of serbian brainwashing (as bulgarians will have you believe) but DESPITE serbian brainwashing attempts. It was an act of defiance. Macedonians rejected the notion of being labeled as "South serbs" as they were during the first Yugoslavia (short SHS) and the local campaigners all WILLINGLY chose to become nothing but Macedonians and form a language using certain NATURAL dialects from this area. Dimitrija Cupovski created most of it on the works of Krste Miriskov.
The preparations went on since the 19th century after the Ottoman liberation but were made OFFICIAL during ASNOM (Anti-Fascist assembly for the liberation of Macedonia) near Skopje.
If you look at the list of attendees and the most prominent people there, they're all ethnic Bulgarian by origin (NOT serb) and they renounce it willingly.
Look at the names from the assembly:
