Some of them have qualifications. JET won't let anyone in without a least an undergraduate degree, for example.

It's sad, but most of the workforce is treated as disposable by employers anyway, unless you're highly skilled and not easy to replace.

Almost no one respects truck drivers here. They paid a lot actually, but they need to work for very long time compared to normal working people, and they are always suffered by a risk of traffic accidents.
My parents will be sad if I become it, because people regard truck drivers as uneducated people. In fact, they are.

Are you still doing things that you honestly don't want to do? In Japan, it's still unusual to switch your job to new one. People usually work at the same company until they retire the job.
>>
>>57532692
I don't think so
>>
>>57532593
Well that's dumb, but I guess it's the same here too. Most people don't respect blue collar jobs because most it doesn't have a university degree attached, is physical work, and usually dangerous. But if it pays a lot then just do it.
It's not like a salaryman can do a start building houses on the first day without the training anyway.

結晶体には無数の紅い線が走り、血管のように脈打っていた。
匣は更に結晶体を中心にして、非ユークリッド幾何学的に展開。

Thank you, mate. Please correct my mistakes if you are okay with it. I think almost every Japanese feels happy if you point out one's mistakes.

さっきから聞きたかったのですが・・・
あなたの英語はとても良いので、みんな理解できると思います。しかしながら、小さいミスが時々あるようです。それらのミスを修正して欲しいですか?それとも放っておいてほしいですか?

Please note that I use "ようです" for your below sentence.
>However every now and then tiny mistakes do pop up.

”ようです” can be translated to "looks like" or "seems like" in English. Since your original sentence doesn't contain these phrases, you might be wondering the reason why I use "ようです"....
In Japanese, people often use "ようです" when speaking something negative that might harm someone's mind. In this case, pointing someone's mistakes might harm his feels, so I recommend you to use "ようです" to make it more polite.
i think it's tough to understand this idea, but Japanese tend to care on this kind of things....
Is there the same kind of idea in your country? I'm interested on this.

Wow, that does look way more comprehensible, I guess the combination of inappropriate word choices and insufficient context padding made it unintelligible.

I'm familiar with ”ようです” and it does make it sound a lot less offensive. We do have a similar ways of softening criticism in Hungarian as well.

For example when we discuss someone's work in front of them we don't generally say THEY did something but that the work itself ended up being this way (as if by accident), as per ”ようです” adding words that imply uncertainty also softens things.

>They paid a lot actually
They actually get paid a lot

You don't have to change the location of "actually" but it sounds slightly more natural like this to me.

>they need to work for very long time compared to normal working people
They work longer hours than [the] average

I know "working longer hours" sounds a bit weird but that's just the way they say it.

>they are always suffered by a risk of traffic accidents.
they suffer from a higher risk of traffic accidents.

>My parents will be sad if I become it
My parents would be sad if I became one

Same concept as に成る時 vs に成ったら. If you use future tense it implies that you are trying to become one or that it's inevitable.

Yeah, I believe almost everything can be expressed by using comprehensive words only, because little kids can express one's mind perfectly. This looks like a very easy thing, but actually, it is a very difficult thing for language learners like me.... I always try to choose basic words as much as I can. Almost all posts on 4chan are written in basic words, so it is very helpful for me to learn English.

It's interesting to know you do in the same way to make sentences soften.
>>
>>57537871
>For example when we discuss someone's work in front of them we don't generally say THEY did something but that the work itself ended up being this way

I once read an interesting article about how some languages are inherently more accusatory than others.
In Italian too, when there's something bad happening, there's more tendency to refer to the event as if happening by pure nature.

Like, if I broke a plate you could say "You broke a plate!" but it's more likely that you'd say "A plate broke".
By who? Who knows. The emphasis is put on the event instead of the perpetrator.
>>
>>57538843
If you like those kinds of linguistic quirks I recommend listening to George Carlin's related stuff (which is a lot). It's only about American English (especially in public speech) but it's still very intriguing and insightful, reveals a lot about the way they think (or want people to think).

Have a taste: https://youtu.be/vuEQixrBKCc

>>57538569
Thanks for the correction!
It looks like I need to think my thoughts in English, not in Japanese.
I always think something in Japanese first, then translate it to English, so this makes my sentence weird to you, I think...
Do you think your thoughts in English?

>Do you think your thoughts in English?
Yes I do, more often than Hungarian actually since the things I care to think about I'm more likely to discuss in English than Hungarian. Same thing with Japanese, I often just imagine trying to explain something in Japanese and the difficulties I get give me new material to research.

By the way, I actually noticed that for example in:
>Please correct my mistakes if you are okay with it."
>if you are okay with it.
Sounds extremely like 良かったら. Though not technically incorrect it would sound more natural to say something like "Please go ahead and correct my mistakes if you find any." without trying to be overly polite.

Anyway, I think the sooner you start thinking in the language you want to express yourself in the better.

That's the sort of reason I think I ended up providing too little context in my original question about corrections. I've gotten so used to omitting things I ended up overdoing it.

This is a problem I have when writing papers as well. It's hard to forget your context and imagine the knowledge base of the people you'll be writing to. Something obvious to you is often not at all so to others, however writing too much padding makes it dull and hard to parse. It's all about a fine balance between those two extremes.

健康上の問題?

それか身内の不幸?

何にしても人の不幸というものは他人が何か言えないからね、かといって人が悩んでるのをほっとくというのも無粋だ。

これが人の悩ましい所でもある、無視無関心こそが時に残酷であるが、かといって触れることが必ずしも肯定的とも限らない。

ではほっておいて自殺を待つか、それもまた無責任ではないか、難しい所だ。
