There is a ton of French immigrants in my town due to the pastor being a huge francophile, they all say zee its hilarious to go to mass when they all go.

My pastor is really weird he goes by Monsignor which I recently learned means my father (I've had him for years but only recently have started to learn French because muh heritage and its actually becoming annoying due to the amount of French immigrants). Is this the title for French Catholic pastors in France?

"Monseigneur" is closer to "My lord", though. I don't follow the Catholic faith, but, I do believe this is the word for high-ranking priests (we're having a massive shitstorm about "Monseigneur Barbarin", Archduke of France, covering for pedo priests right now). But for a church priest it should be "Mon Père", which is, as you say, "father".

Yeah my pastor also has a huge ego. Its actually frustrating because little French speaking groups of houses are starting to emerge due to him practically importing conservative French people.

Also the thing about accents getting you laid mostly applies to other Anglo accents. If you spoke French to the girls they probably would fuck you though, regardless if they also spoke it.

Between 1699 and 1760, six major settlements were established in Upper Louisiana: Cahokia, Kaskaskia, Fort de Chartres, Saint Philippe, and Prairie du Rocher, all on the east side of the Mississippi River in present-day Illinois; and Ste. Genevieve across the river in today's Missouri.[7] The region was initially governed as part of Canada, but was declared to be part of Louisiana in 1712, with the grant of the Louisiana country to Antoine Crozat.[8] By the 1720s a formal government infrastructure had formed; leaders of the towns reported to the commandant of Fort de Chartres, who in turn reported to the Governor-general of Louisiana in New Orleans.[9]

The geographical limits of Upper Louisiana were never precisely defined, but the term gradually came to describe the country southwest of the Great Lakes and, in some cases, crossing the Mississippi River into present-day Missouri. A royal ordinance of 1722 may have featured the broadest definition: all land claimed by France south of the Great Lakes and north of the mouth of the Ohio River, which would include the lower Missouri Valley as well as both banks of the Mississippi.[10]

I fucking despise that NY flag. Its too city-centric, most of the population does not live inside the fucking city, it is not the state.

The French don't have a goddamn thing to do with my state's history, but our state capital's name is French because when a bunch of miners gathered to decide its name, a frog convinced them to vote for his name by buying them drinks.

FROG'D in the fullest sense
>>
>>57276235
To be fair, descriptive names are probably for the best if you're a settler.

No the entire hudson river was but Orange isn't associated with the state (Blue and Gold are the colors, Orange and blue are the city) the house of York has nothing to do with New York (the duke of York which it was named after wasn't of the House of York) and its pretty much just a recolor of some English county flag

Not saying European tricolors are any better but state flags should be on par with national flags and be held to the same standards, imo. Maryland, Arizona, and Tennessee in particular do that very well. Seals are shit tier although I must admit Virginia's is pretty badass.

French customs practiced in Prairie du Rocher include La Guiannée, a custom of caroling on New Year's Eve dating back to medieval times in France. It has been celebrated in Prairie du Rocher every New Year's Eve since settlement in 1722. The town also celebrates Rendezvous during the summer, as well as the winter, at the Fort de Chartres.
>>
>>57282427
New York, Virginia, and Pennsylvania all are fine to have it as they actually look pretty good imo as a flag/national flag, and they have the history and reasoning behind it to make sense (they all originate from the revolution) however everyone else just copied it for absolutely not reason other than "the three most powerful states at the time did it so we will too"
>>
>>57282369
nope

I worked there for 5 months in summer 2010, Obama went to Acadia for his vacation and it gave hell to my coworkers. I'm glad I was off for those two days, they'd never had that many customers before.

Also I went to a friends family home and fired a 1929 Moist Nugget while drinking local beer and eating hot dogs, it was great.

Hail the Amerivcan Dream. Pic related is a coworker of mine.

The Old Believers are interesting. They basically told the Patriarch of Moscow to go fuck himself back in the 1600s, and ran off into Siberia to make their own church, with absolutely no blackjack or hookers allowed.

They're still finding isolated villages of Old Believers out there, to this day.

Have to be reported and neutralized if you don't have the gun license.

Honestly, a lot of people in France have weapons, for hunting essentially. Second in Europe I barely remember. There are arround 10 millions weapons circulating in France according to weapons associations, for an european country it's a big number.
>>
>>57283345
There are some, but they're mostly small villages. Most names are American or Alaska Native.

But you also have Aляcкa which the Russians derived from an Aleut word, so there's that at least.
