Not how it works. There are a few problems with your argument:
The land on which Australia exists was previously filled with settler colonies founded by the British; Australia herself was created by the British, and the majority of the original Australians were British. Therefore there exists historical precedent for "British" people becoming "Australian".
A significant number of my ancestors lived on this land before the modern country called "Australia" existed; they were Australian when Australia was created.
I'm of mixed race, so I wouldn't be "British" anyway; I can't (purely) be anything but Australian.

Only a very few jurisdictions grant citizenship unconditionally on the basis of being born in the territory of the state (and in my view, those that do so do wrong by their people). Australia is not such a jurisdiction. I suppose you are an American, which would explain your confusion.

Wrong. Aborigines lived on the land before the Australian nation was created. They had no real part in its creation, and they remain separate from the Australian nation (though they live still on the land and have recently been granted citizenship of the state).

I didn't and wouldn't say this. Nevertheless, not being White is a significant obstacle to being an Australian, because non-Whites tend to come from societies with cultures grossly dissimilar to Australia's, and have proportional difficulty integrating appropriately. Generally it takes a few generations, often with interbreeding, for foreign lineage to be integrated. I think this is true of every nation, not just Australia.
