Nymburk, Czechia
Kowloon walled city. The greatest proof that humans will make do anyway possible. In this small, superpopulated block business flowed, from little markets to pasta production and unlicensed dentistry. It probably smelled terribly and living there must've been absolute shit, but I can't stop imagining how it was. I have seen every image and video of this city and it only increases my curiosity.
Is there anything that even compates to it today?
>>53772313
Muh city best church.
>>53772642
There's a bin within ample metres from the litter, quite annoying.
>>53772722
There's a tiny recreation of it in Japan, but I don't know how it is. It should at least give a small taste of it, as a lot of objects and props were used from the actual walled city.
>>53772743
I know, couldnt find better photo :/
>collect public donations for national theater
>it burns down
>>53773422
our castles are mostly cute
>>53772852
It's just not the same. The people, the business and the life in kowloon is what interests me. The buildings are sort of generic hong kong buildings in a crazy density and build on top of eachother.
It's a bit like a modern version of european cities that are dense because they had to build within the walls. It looks organic af.

The inner city looks ugly as fuck. The wall looks nice, but once you go into town ...

beautiful, i wish my cunt had more art deco
>>53784932
Another picture
Dunfermline City Chambers
It employs a harmonious composite of French, Gothic and Scots baronial architectural styles and features a prominent four-face clock tower.
>>53781854
Oh dear....
>>53784932
>>53785088
Looks great, but nothing that I would have expected to be in Sweden.
>>53784977
It really is quite nice. One of the few truly "American-esque" art deco pieces in Europe.
>>53785173
Why?
>>53784496
Nice.
>>53785188
Another notable European example being the Boerentoren in Belgium, though not quite as expressive.
>>53781716
It's rather saddening.
>>53785488
It looks so monumental, I just don't associate buildings like that with Sweden.
>>53785188
Art Deco is a worthy attempt at an aesthetic architecture.
>>53784463
A nice brutalist pagoda, but unfortunately now torn.
>>53785686
But it's the center of the capital, ofc it's somewhat monumental.

I think wood is better suited to our climates, but its main advantage is naturally that it's so accessible.
Gustav Adolfs torg, Gothenburg
Westeros
>>53786426
Wood is better for almost every weather, houses in stone are hard to insulate. It's abitch in the summer as well.
>>53787204
I suppose. Main problem is fires, which is why stone became more popular historically, but I don't think that's as big of a problem nowadays. Plus wood is qt.

What are we supposed to do? They are ugly but they are quite functional, a lot of people live there and it's not like everyone can afford a new apartment. Eastern Europe is not wealthy enough to replace them just because they are ugly. Most people don't really care though.

Many years ago I stood guard down by the gate to the right in the picture. I can still recite the guard instruction: "Post nr 3. Jag bevakar slottets fasad, parken, det förbjudna området innanför bojarna, samt krontrollerar all inpassering genom östra grinden."
>>53787450
Nah man, wood is practical but it doesn't look very nice. On simple houses with no pain, wood is better, but when people put detailing, brick is better.

Educate yourself.
BIshop's Stortford school.
The building on the left done in a Georgian Colonial style.
Do Europoors have any schools that look this nice? Methinks not aheheh.
And here are the Bongs that go to Stortford. What Europoors would do to them if they could get their hands on them.

Castles are supposed to have bitty walls at the top.
In bits, a castle wall would look like 101010101010101010101010101010, if you know what I mean.

>>53790583
Indeed.
>>53790658
if they were smaller it would be much much worse

Nationalism is not being extreme, it's about loving your own country.

nope patriotism is about loving your country, nationalism is about thinking it's better than the other countries
>>53790920
also I dont even love my country
>>53790920
No. Nationalism is not chauvinism. I'm a Swedish nationalist but I think Poland is a lovely country.
>>53790350
Fairly certain a castle can look like anything as long as it gets the job done. We used to have one which was a nice mix back in the middle ages, but it was destroyed by barbaric Swedes and rebelling peasants.
>>53790979
Why not? You have nice cities like Gdansk and Kraków, and a fighting spirit to always come again.

Western Europe has better ones.
>and a fighting spirit to always come again.
Western Europe has a spirit and capabilities to not get rekt in the first place.
>>53791164
Not a game, just a model for what it most likely looked like. To this day you can still see the ruins of the walls circling around the hill.
>>53790350

San Francisco street caverns
Does anyone have pics of buildings built over a street (like municipal in ny)?
>>53792179
Yeah that's the biggest negative for me too. Chicago is the most popular US city in Bulgaria. One of our most popular literature authors had a very popular book called - ''to Chicago and back''. Lovely city.
>>53792296
Awesome. The terrain underneath looks straight up mystical.
>>53792230
I was just joking
but I get triggered when Americans go full USA #1 USA #1 USA #1
but they are getting triggered easily too, I remember how /urban/ died year ago(or something) just because I was saying Dubai>NYC kek
or their butthurt when NYC lost the battle of skylines
>>53792366
really nice
I know for now these highrises look out of place but if Lyon builds more they will look good - traditional houses and modern skyscrapers in background
WE WUZ ARCHITECTES N SHEIT
>>53792231
I think it was pretty nice for a mid-13th century fortress. Would have looked good on the skyline if it still was around.
>>53792617
I agree I prefer old buildings but I have nothign against a load of skyscrapers as long as they are diverse and don't fuck up places already built
>>53792533
I know another one a bit like this
>>53792755
>>53791427
We have proper castles, capable of keeping shitlords out, and stately home. We don't have pansy castles for pansies who practically want to be invaded.
That is why we took over and held half your country, and you never did the same to us.
>>53792755
we hae some totally out of place skyscraper in Poland too and it's not likely any new one will be built there any time soon
>>53792548
I have no problem with that at all, very few people actually do that, and they're not really serious about it. Their patriotism is based on the country and their idea of freedom, unlike countries like Japan where their nationalism is based on ethnicity, and they are dead serious about it, they would never openly admit it or talk about it, they express it in an extremely irritating and condescending way. Not talking about it is what keeps perpetuating their delusional views about their country, unlike Americans where they would discuss and argue openly about anything, it's much easy to dispel misinformation that way.
>>53792810
very nice, very comfy looking
>>53792916
(Pic related, a stately home - better defended than most chatetaetauz though, I bet).
>>53792916
You are either trolling or ignorant since fancy castles weren't build for defense anymore, because of artillery
We do have things capable of keeping flithy bongs out, I've never seen a single English walled city
Based class system leaving us with loads of sexy stately homes.
>>53793035
are those cities in america natuarely flat? I don't think I've ever seen so much flat in my life
Damn, i can't post anymore images. I didn't know there's a 150 limit to images. I still haven't posted Seattle, the Midwest cities, Texas, Florida, Pennsylvania and few Ohio's.
