Books, anime, manga, movies, series, etc are different types of media to begin with, so it's natural that some people will dislike one or another.

there's plenty of material on the internet to learn japanese, and I don't know how to start. Some websites make you learn kanjis only, others teach vocabulary, and others verbs, grammar etc... but in romanji
I wish to learn japanese but mostly I would like to be able to read and understand written japanese. Then understand oral japanese. Being able to speak it is not a priority. What material should I use exactly?
I've started 2 courses on memrise (N5 vocab and N5 kanjis) but I'm not sure that is enough
