It's very eccentric, and it's just enormous, I actually like it, I think it looks really imposing and the number of internationally famous art pieces inside is just amazing.
Typical buiding in Westmount on the Island of Montreal (a city enclave in Montreal), similar architecture is also found in some areas in Montreal, especially around downtown.
The influence is obvious.

The one in Finland never went through, and the one proposed for Tromsö (see pic) had its designed changed and is still going through a years long approval phase. He also proposed a direct copy, but white, for Stavanger. That too had an altered design to something more original. After the oil crash however, there have been no further plans concerning the project.

Then crisis hit and so development slowed down there, though its getting better now, couple of new highrises will be started this year

Much of Oslo's core downtown area is already beyond modern, so I'd rather they go all the way instead of the half-assed shit that is there now. It was never a city in the lines of Copenhagen and Stockholm either, so it's better to do something that really makes it stand its own ground.

Many of them have, Hervanta is an exception because the technical university of Tampere lies here. Something like 25% of the residents don't speak Finnish as mother tongue but I think a large chunk of them are exchange students. Haven't faced any "multicultural" problems here.

One of my favourite pictures.
The building in the foreground is the side of the old Catholic cathedral in Bristol. You cannot tell, but the area in front of it is actually nice.
The 2-chimney-things building in the background is the new Catholic cathedral.
The blue copper-roof building to the right of the new cathedral, and the pointed roof just behind and to the left, is a (very posh) private school which would make for a very nice looking cathedral itself.
I like the picture because it is a photograph of the nice part of Bristol (and it is indeed nice), but it still looks pretty dirty from that angle.

The area where it's located is characterized by the great quality of the design of the commercial buildings found there, when it was built that was taken as a chance to make a completely unique-looking building, it really adds a lot to the entire urban complex that surrounds it.
It's not just monopoly factories, the first floor merges perfectly with the open spaces around and the odd triangular shapes in its roof make up for a very interesting interior design.
Even if it was indeed just stacked monopoly factories, that wouldn't necessarily mean the design is bad.

Been there once, in 2007. Inner city is pretty nice. Also visited Limhamn and Bunkeflostrand in the southwest, which is where my mother grew up. Probably the comfiest "non-villaområde" (eng?) housing area I've seen. Probably was a lot different in the 60's but it was still very beautiful, very calm. And best of all, free from immigrants and scum which is really nice. Granted, that's 7 years ago, lots could have changed.

Thats true. I think the ECB is the main reason Frankfurt is having a boom. In the last decade the population has grown from about 650K (a size it had since the 1970s) to almost 720K, and its still going. Apartments get more and more expensive and gentrification is another problem, The last free spaces are filled with buildings and they ad floors onto the top of existing houses. Also the suburbs grow. Frankfurt and its direct neighbouring towns and cities have a population of almost 2.5 million people, theFrankfurt Rhine Main Metro aria is almost 5 million people. Really its getting crowded here.
