I always see people who go in for art classes and ateliers and stuff say that they have to get the students to unlearn all sorts of bad habits.

What are they talking about familialia? Are the schools just shilling for themselves or are there paths you go down that will hold you back? I'm talking technical things, not motivation stuff.
