I feel that anime/manga is only popular because of the mid 80s and 90s generation of people. Nowadays kids think anime is gay and would rather watch minecraft streams or whatever kids like these days. The oversimplification of western cartoons is popular with kids today due to adventure times success. In other words animes popularity ends with the millennials.
>>
>>2581043
#2 as a sidenote what I used to do was ask kids what their fav anime is in younow streams and the response is always - "anime is for losers" or "I don't watch anime" or "I tried watching anime and like, I don't like it" etc
>>
>>2581047

Anime appeals too teenagers really, wait till they hit 13/14 and they will get into it.

I'm a "millennial" and I didn't watch it until that age.

Actually, anime is reaching back to 2005 levels of popularity.

Thanks to the internet, anime is more readily available and more discussed. Do you know where kids spend the most of their time on? The internet.

I mean, it's not entirely an accepted normalfag thing to watch yet, but you obviously don't have any idea what you're talking about. And let's be honest here, anime has always been considered an outsider thing, even the Japs treat otaku like scum.

You are. 2005 we didn't have a bunch of kids with tablets who can watch anime hentai with a push of a button. We had kids WB and fox for that when they were still alive. No, most of the people who draw the popular and trendy shit just have popular and trendy taste. So while their art might be decent, it's almost guaranteed that they are as obnoxious as the fans they attract. Even when they try to pretend they aren't on the surface. My only beef with fan-art is that it gives fan-artists a false sense of accomplishment, bloating their egos, since they are using someone else's IP and creativity to get them any attention. So they end up thinking they deserve more respect than they really do as creatives.

>>2581043
Most anime are literally marketed toward teenagers, not kids. And just about all the millennials who got into anime did when they were in their teenage years. So it's just anime appealing to the target audience it's suppose to. I don't know how anyone over the age of 25+ can be into the garbage japan still shits out on the regular though unless you're talking about the more mature shows that get released periodically.
>>
>>2581942

If it's not for teens then it's for the otaku man-children that society rightfully ridicules. The anime that are made for profit (ie anime made to pander to teens and man-children) outweigh the anime made for any other demographic, because it's an industry in it to make money.
>>
>>2581984
all media is made to make money and 90% of them pander m8. You gotta get trough shit to get to the good stuff in any other entertainment industry too.

Also you sound a bit arsed at this point, so I don't know if you are >>2581942 or just baiting, but I replied anyway.
>>
>>2581985
>all media is made to make money and 90% of them pander m8

So then what is your point? Because the original claim was that most anime panders to teens, which isn't false given most main cast characters in anime tend to be teenagers. And if it's not marketed to teens, it's to otaku via the female cast members. Very little anime is marketed to any other demographic. So they don't make up most of the content the medium has to offer.
>>
>>2581996
I see your point. Here is my counter:
You don't have to watch all of it.
I don't like anime either (the same face and stiffness is just a huge bother to me) but there are exceptions (I love sayonara zetsubou sensei and mushishi). Don't trash everything just because of the bad stuff m8, watch what you think is your jam.

Of course, but those exceptions don't make the rule. So when someone says "anime is shit" don't take offense, because most of it is. It's an industry and the two biggest demographics it panders to (teens and otaku) have terrible taste.

>unless you're talking about the more mature shows that get released periodically

The more "mature" shows are majority of the time worse than the kids shows and you fucking know this. Poorly written, no thought, carbon copy cancer script. Toonami is a prime example of this; in recent memory, Dimension W would be considered seinen and it was god awful from beginning to end. Despite what you think, the kids shows and shows that appeal to teens appeal to adults more than their target demographic and the more "mature" anime appeal to teens because OMG BLOOD. Mirai Nikki is a more mature show and guess who really likes it? Edgy, emo 14 year old girls. If you are an adult who likes lighthearted fun but an pinch of seriousness in their cartoons you have the utmost superior taste. This is why classic looney toons is still funny and fun to watch even for older audience because now we can catch the adult humor. Adult humor in anime and even the slap-stick cliches is more enjoyable than garbage like kabeneri and the edgelord fortress.

Ecchi is primarily targeted for young boys but then you say "why not just watch porn?" That's exactly what young boys would rather do. But as an adult porn just doesn't do it anymore and ecchi fills in that void. It becomes fun again while still maintaining a balance. Anyway I'm going off too much, you are wrong about the age bro, more like ~35 years old.
>>2582240
Shut up, I research this myself popular kids trends by asking them. If it was that damn easy to find out trends by googles SEO tools then marketers and advertisers wouldn't be spending billions a year to find out what their buyers like. Facebook must know the dirty secret, that's why they don't use every avenue they can get to spy on you and collect data am I right? You know trends by manually asking them. Just look at the kidsreact videos as a prime example (despite I hate their videos).

Most of the shows on Toonami were for kids and teenagers, you fucking moron.

And for the record, anime doesn't hold a stick to Looney Toons in terms of being well written light-hearted fun. So for you to even make that comparison is pretty insulting to Looney Toons. Anime humor is god awful. It always has been. You have shit taste.

I did not mean to make a comparison, I brought it up because I mentioned adult humor. If adult humor is the case anime does hold a candle in my opinion.

It is for a reason. I said adult humor. And you will only find that in the kids anime, which is superior format to anime storytelling.
