I'm very new to Copic markers, and so far, I'm really liking them. Considering I want to do more bright JoJo-esque colouring like I did here, what colours would you recommend to me?
Also, general Copic thread. Show off nice colour combos and stuff.
Your drawing is really nice, but I think the background detracts from the main drawing, making it too busy. Personally, I usually just use one or two colors because I'm basic as hell.

Hmm true, I think I kind of overdid the background in an overambitious attempt to stay true to the style. I think it would've worked out better if I left several of the patterns out or did them in a less saturated colour.

I haven't gotten into copics at all partially because they're expensive. I'm thinking about picking up like, one or two grey markers just for a few shades of values, though. Does anyone do this?

yes, I recommend picking the gray values first. I bought colors and honestly, you have to know how to coordinate them for a smooth blend and I barely use copics besides the gray ones anyway. Start with grays first, then slowly add a couple colors in.
