>>2573664
Nice! You should try drawing without those plan lines though, try studying your own face in a mirror to get an intuitive feeling of where everything goes and how shadows fall on different features.
>>2568853
It's good to draw a variety of things
Gives you an edge

why the eye, uniform and hats censor? and why does one kid have his whole face censored and not just the eyes?

make static studies , draw boxes and vases and clothing . After you understand how to shade and how the shadows work , you go on something like a portrait after you fully understand the 3d space . You will see shadows on the face and you will know why are there. also , convert the image in black and white. You will see all the shadows and where the light goes.
Anyone have good skull refs? Mostly front and profile view

>>2577832
I love em. There are a lot of models though, some ugly some not it's all subjective. They're way too skinny for some people though.
The costumes are nice

Google those terms. Some of the higher quality pictures are 2big4/ic/.
>>2577832
Their skinny frames are good for anatomy, good for seeing muscles and bone placement
>>2579493
Except all that pesky skin.
Does anyone have a good reference for common hairstyles? Seems like the kind of thing where there should be a big book of them, but I've never seen anything like that.

I kind of prefer pictures where there is a lot of motion to them where it seems like people are actually doing something other than just looking pretty for a camera.

how long should be spent on doing a recreation of a photo reference? and how does it help you as an artist? sorry if this sounds stupid im just genuinely curious.
>>2583813
heres something I did in an hour.
Wasnt sure how it helped me really though as an artist.
>>2583813
People on ic tend to give a strange variety of responses to this question for some reason. Personally I've spent upwards of 20+ hrs on some of my studies and I don't regret it one bit, but as I've become better and faster I'm now spending much less time on them. It simply helped me bridge the gap between what I see in real life or a photograph, with what I put on the page.
>>2583813
It depends on what sort of study I'm doing. If I'm just looking at the general anatomy, colours or whatever it takes half an hour to an hour, a perfect photo looking copy will take many more hours.
But that's just me, many people are much faster.

>>2583830
Because you could do a study in pretty much any way you want. There's no absolute right way. You could eyeball, measure or grid it. You could go straight into colours, you could lineart and block colours, you could make a charicature, you could draw your own thing and only take the idea, or try to draw it from another angle. Even tracing is a way of learning at some point.
