I don't understand...

Do these people just don't use construction lines or is it just this guy?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQUYZk8VwQo

Do all anime animators not use construction lines?

If so, how do they transition from construction?

Pic unrelated but MOOOOOOOOO
>>
Those are pretty simple drawings. When you get good enough you won't have to draw out a bunch of boxes and cylinders, you'll just see them on the page.
>>
Construction what?

They've drawn so much that they no longer need to use construction lines

I guess by years of practice, you can send construction to fucking hell.

I already stopped using construction lines for Anime heads. I wish I could do that for everything ;_;
>>
>>2556911

It's also drawn in profile, which is apparently the easiest way to animate.

let's work harder towards a construction-line-less future

Well if you are having issues with anime heads in general, what really helped me get the curves and cheeks right was one simple fix. All it took was a circle with a line underneath of it. I watched many, many youtube videos on how to draw a fucking anime head and they all did not make sense to me except one which of course I can't find it.

One simple line made me go from ayylmao faces to something that actually resembles anime faces. I'm not saying this is good in any way or form but I made significant progress in 24 hours from watching said video.
>>
>>2557129
it all depends from person to person

somebody who has no problem with the outline of the face might have problems somewhere else. That's way different sources of information work differently for different ppl, we all have different weaknesses and strong points
>>
>>2557129
Can you explain that in a different way? Or with a clearer example? Seems simple, but I'm not entirely sure what you mean by a line under the circle.

>>2557129
The 3rd picture has the eyes, nose, mouth, and ears are too low. The face in second has closer to the proportions you want
>>
>>2557129
My problem is drawing the eyes with the head tilted.

I could never get the placement right.
>>
>>2557178
Actually scratch that, your forehead is just too big

Basically a circle, with a line under it. That was all it took for me.
>>2557173
This.

And yes, I see my mistakes now. I end up making the chin too long which ends up making me lower the eyes/ears thus causing code lyoko.

Get familiar with loomis, then gather anime references and figure out how you can replicate them through constructions. Practice until shit's your second nature, done.

Anime isn't hard, animators and manga artist slog through ridiculous deadlines, anyone can get reasonably good with them.

Didn't say it was.

Easy to learn, I guess. People like going above and beyond though.
>>
>>2557276

Very high stylization makes it basically symbol drawing. /a/ even has QUALITY as a meme.
>>
>>2557293
So the pic I posted is symbol drawing to you?
>>
Anime isn't true art.
It's easy as fuck to draw.

You don't have to put much thought into it.
>>
>>2557302
Don't bother.

Anime is a simple style. Which makes people with no eyes unable to distinguish between pure symbol drawing to godtier drawings. Then you get anime is bad. Okay.

Anime just like western animation is built on 3dimensional shapes in perspective. The exact opposite of symbol drawing. What is drawn on top of those 3 dimensional shapes, the stylized facial features or even entire inbetween frames can look quite bad at times, but that has nothing to do with the genre itself, but with a variety of reasons ranging from the budget as a whole to the individual skill of the animator.

Most anime also often tend to be fairly realistic outside of facial features compared to western cartoons.
>>
>>2557291
>Easy to learn, I guess.

And what makes it easy to learn? Seems to me that the vast amount of shit tier DA weeb art like what you just posted is proof that it's not easy to learn at all.

I did the ctrl+Paint exercise of drawing 100 of something. Featureless heads this time, using any method (Vilppu, Loomis, Hamm, Drawabox...)

I then opened a drawing In SAI, put opacity to 20% and just started tracing the forms (yeah, forms nigga, not shapes).

You trace the chin, squares for the eyes, the neck, the cheeks... everything. But you don't mindlessly trace. Write next to it the actual relation between the parts (I.E. Neck's thickness is 1/3 of the head. Eyes are square in nature, Chin looks like a pointy bowl. Etc...).

It kinda helped me unfuck my work.
>>
>>2557315
If you'd remove those shitty eyes, it wouldn't classify as anime anymore. Every good "anime" art is actually just semi-realism with ugly bug eyes.

>Every good "anime" art is actually just semi-realism with ugly bug eyes.

You're defining anime by how bad you perceive the art to be. The moment it stops being bad it's not anime for you.

That picture is far from realistic. It just has shading that's more complex than two tones. Yes, anime is a set of stylistic conventions that mostly converge around the face. The thing is anime like any form of art taht is meant to be perceived through your fucking eyes is subject to the same fundamentals any other style is.

I think that what you were trying to express is that since it's heavily reliant on symbols for facial features it provides a lower entry bar. That is true, but it's also true for cartoons and comics.

>>2556902
The point is building volume. No one meticulously puts down lines that they don't need. That is too "beginner who religiously follows this or that guy's method".
Also lots of people draw in lots of different ways, so don't look at what others do and think "oh boy this is how they do it? then I have to do it this way too if I want to be good" but rather see some shit, try it out and if it works for you keep it and if not move on.
>>
>>2557302

Anime figure stands out so much from the background and is so flat that it isn't even funny.
