Why do anime artists always have fucking bird wings in their pencil holders? Is it to brush away eraser shavings? Why can't they just blow them off the page or wipe with their hand? I've never seen one in a store before.
>>
>>2550779
You have to hunt down your spirit hawk and get one from them.

>Is it to brush away eraser shavings?
Yes.
>Why can't they just blow them off the page or wipe with their hand? I've never seen one in a store before.
Wiping with your hand can smudge the graphite and leave oils/fingerprints. Blowing will make a mess and is a hassle if there's a lot of stuff on the page.
>I've never seen one in a store before.
Horsehair brushes are more common in the west.

Looks bright and comfy, but damn, get a monitor stand or something.

2/2. I have them on opposite sides of the room. I often switch from one to the other because I like traditional a tad more, but digital because colors in most cases aren't cheap for traditional.

>>
>>2550826
Yeah, my grandmother is a custodian so she always gets stuff that's in the lost and found that hasn't been claimed for a while and gives whatever to me or my siblings.

Apparently one of the students at her school carried euros, pesos , and some other coins and shit. I just haven't found a place for them yet.
>>
>>2550829
thats awesome. Hopefully your grandma isn't worked too hard. Also we have the same tablet. If you're not mexican, then where you at bro?
>>
>>2550846
She likes it well enough. She gets paid well and gets to retire in a few years. And I'm in Missouri. Not that big of an art scene here unless it's graphic design or music. But I'm working on my art in my free time to hopefully do it for a living.

Yourself?
>>
>>2550853
That's great, I like the set-up you have going. How long ahve you been practicing on your off time? Me I'm in LA, I've been more or less a NEET for... 2 months now.
>>
>>2550857
I try to go for at least 3 hours a day. I work a full time job and 'try' to get 8hrs of sleep. So it doesn't really leave much time to work on my craft unless it's in small bursts at work or binging on the weekends.

I'd definitely like to live a more NEET lifestyle, but I just finished off a year of otr truck driving so I'm just saving for a place in the meantime and playing catch-up to get back in a comfortable routine.

LA is definitely more suited for NEETs considering your diversity of work out there. Out here it's mostly manual labor unless you're an entrepreneur or you have a specialized degree.

How much time do you typically put forward when you work on your art? I'm guessing a ton with how much free-time I assume you have.

Converted closet desk space any tips on de cluttering?
>>
>>2550873
Remove the picture and add another board there to put up your other stuff.
>>
>>2550877
Theres a board above it already the little rails are installed up to the ceiling. I have more books up there.
>>
>>2550881
Well yeah, I see that. But you have enough room below it to put another board that'd fit the clutter on your desk.
>>
>>2550883
>wanting more clutter
Please anon. There is a time and place for open space too.
>>
>>2550886
What I'm saying is that they can take all that clutter on their desk and put it on a board above it so that he has more open space on the bottom where I assume he does his work.

Or was that not clear the first time?
>>
>>2550883
>>2550883
Yeah but I think it would be too claustrophobic I'm going to reorganize everything I just do that thing where I want everything in front of me at once.
>>
>>2550862

ah yes, the pleasure of being born in an farming village next to an industrial town, gives you so many options

Then get yourself a plastic organizer from Walmart and put the organizer somewhere near your workspace.

>>

Wrong guy. LA NEET here, yeah, you're right. Plus it feels like most people my age around here are not far from myself in terms of mentality. There are a few hardworking dudes in my friend group but... yeah. Anime, video games, masturbation, and whatnot has ruined our 'neuroplasticity,' if you'll allow me to drop a hot meme.

That said, your life as a missouri truck driver is more interesting. Do you support only yourself? Sounds unbelievably annoying to try and do art after a full time job.

Oh and you asked a question about my efficiency... that's pretty much a joke. My family doesn't think I have anything to do, and I fail to assert myself that this is what I am going to do. Also, I have trouble creating stuff from imagination. I'd love to go back to school for art but that's hard to bring up at this point.

Some days, I work from waking up to sleeping. Literally the whole day. But then, I don't touch my materials for several days to a week. It's not the best routine.

>>

I live with family currently, but I still pay rent and all my own bills. It's tough doing a full time job and all my free-time mostly going to art. But it's better than the alternative of just playing games all the time and not doing anything notable with my time.

That blows that your family feels that way. Quite honestly I don't think my family believes I can do it either, but I've been drawing since I was a kid and always been doing it since. Might as well prove them wrong before we pass away.

It's really hard building a solid routine that sticks. Sometimes I'm just too exhausted from work to even pick up a pencil, other times I'll go to work bleary eyed because I was working on a painting all night before.

It's tough. But if you want it and work for it bad enough it'll work out.

It probably isn't the thing you want to hear most, but if I have any advice for someone in your situation, it would be find a part-time day job. Even something simple. It will 1) earn you stoke points with your parents, 2) earn you some disposable income and 3) force singe structure into your days. As an added bonus, nothing helps your imagination like going out and doing things, which will help imagination drawing in the long run.

Be picky about what sort of work your doing, though! You're in LA, find an art museum and volunteer there or something. It'll be relevant to what you want to do and could lead to a comfy day job surrounded by the local art scene.
