Things that you do to save time/effort on your art. I'll go first: when I don't want to fill up a canvas, sometimes I'll paint a silhouette of something like a tree or building that conviently fills up any excess space. Pic related.

Get a smaller canvas? It looks really unbalanced with all that black space and changes the entire mood of it.
