>drawing on paper for the first time in a while
>make mistake
>think in my head 'Ctrl+Z'
>nothing happens
>pause
>oh shit i need to actually erase my shit
woah man digital fucked my brain
That happened to me for a while too. It's why you're supposed to traditionally, and encouraged to practice with a pen/fine-liner from time to time. Digital can make you really sloppy and lazy if you haven't had a reason to build up that confidence and awareness of what you're doing.

>Working digital
>Surface isn't as glossy as I want
>Reach for varnish/turps
Goddamn these limits
>>2528152
The worst thing is when you want to liquify some shit but instead you gotta erase a shit ton and draw again
>>2528152
It's weird but my traditional drawing has improved a LOT by drawing with my tablet, When I sketch digitally I have a hand on the keyboard so I can switch to the eraser at any time rather than using ctrl+z. I started mimicking this when sketching with a pencil on paper by holding a kneadable eraser in my other hand.
>>2528181
This hit me too hard. I really need to practice sketching on paper more.
>>2528152
>have pen nearby
>get it and almost start drawing on your fucking tablet
Like this thing hasn't taken enough abuse.
>>2528152
I fucking hate digital art for this reason. There's literally no skill and you can erase, edit, and do whatever without any consequence.
>>2528152
>mfw i have to use a mirror or hold my sketchbook aainst the window whenever i want to "flip horizantally"
and everytime is slanted to the right or off balance and i cant control t

>put it to photoshop
>erase and transform whatever the fuck you want
life is easier

Having common sense isn't your strength if you had to learn that.
>be me
>still in school, no money for art supplies
>armed with only a BIC mechanical pen and paper
>erasing anything leaves ugly lines after
>I make a shitload of mistakes because I'm still learning

I can't wait for Christmas to get a digital tablet or something. Just look at how fucked her crotch is, I was practicing thigh squeeze and gap. It's even worse because I partially fixed the long torso, having to redo and move up her whole crotch. It's why I didn't draw a face, I always fuck up and end up having the head 3 shades darker than everything else.
>>2530957
>Look at the arms
>Look at the legs
We need to get you a tablet, and loomis.
>>2530969
Yeah, I know the arms are too short (posted in the art critic thread) but what wrong with the legs? I'm genuinely curious, I'm somewhat new and need all the help I can get. They're intended to be thick and squeezed by the tights.
>Erasing
>Not drawing with a technical pen and thinking more
>Using a pencil at all
>>2530981
Oh ok then...
I was talking about the arm size in relation to the leg size, but i fucked up for what it looks like.
>>2530527
Nice bait.
>>2530988
Don't know if bait.
Or an actual idiot.
>>2530957
anon im a second year in highschool and everything i do is with a mechanical pencil and a 4b, tools shouldnt be your excuse
pic pulled out of my sketchbook, no resize cus i hate my life
>>2530957
If you are worried about making way too dark lines that you are unable to erase then grip your pencil from the back like this. It is much harder to make darker lines with a grip far away from the pencil point and you won't make imprints on your paper through being heavy handed.
>>2530957
>erasing anything leaves ugly lines after
Erasers vary in quality. The Staedtler Mars Plastic Eraser is good and widely available. But if you crush the grain of the paper with pressure there is nothing you can do to undo it. For perfect erasing you have to press lightly. You can still get reasonably dark lines by using a soft lead. AFAIK the softest mechanical pencil lead you can get is the Pilot NEOX 0.5mm 4B.

For a second year in hs it's pretty gud, but don't get carried away, senpai.
Focus more on the fundamentals and less on rendering, you wouldn't believe me if I didn't measure for you how off the proportions are.
>>2531037
Your redline is way off my man..
>>2531085
Haha yea, way to make a fool out of myself..
I used Hale measuring system, forgetting that the pelvis landmark is at the iliac crest, not the top of the pelvis, which fucked up the lower half.
>>2531096
Yeah it seemed really off at first glance, mainly the clavicle not lining up with the draw. But aside from that I don't think my proportions are too off, but then again I didn't really measure anything on this just sorta freehanded it. Well bodies do come in all sizes, but I prefer drawing mesomorph manlets rather than ectomorphs.
>>2530652
And you're too dumb to understand to point of my post, good job buddy.
>>2531103
they are off anon. you're focusing too much on rendering without understanding the forms (also you're pillowshading). They're pointing out that you're not thinking about the underlying structure and focusing too much on bulk. Which means you shrank the torso and aren't combining the forms in believable ways. You're not bad for your age (inb4 banned for being underage btw), but consider the redline and don't get your head shoved too far up your own ass. A redline doesn't have to be perfectly accurate for you to learn from it. Nitpicking like that only shows you're immaturity and over-sized ego.
>>2531251
Give it a proper redline and show my proportions being off to believable standards, and maybe I'll consider. I pillow-shaded because I wanted that general style (kind of trying to follow funkymonkey's shading style) for that sketch. Here's another one with somewhat proper lighting. Didn't have an eraser where I did this so rip that gibbled ass hand.
>>2531318
work on hands.
>tfw you're probably the best artist in your high school
if so, make sure you don't get complacent, I was the best in my highschool and now i'm two years out and havent drawn a lot since, make sure to work hard.
pic is something i did in highschool, havent improved much since.
>>2531325
I know I'm bad, I'm still very sub-par and I'm practicing to improve everyday. But I don't want to recieve critiques that aren't going to back up their points. In this case the proportions; I may be completely wrong but I'm going to stay ignorant until proven so. But yeah I haven't studied hands or drawn much of them at all since I've started seriously doing this. Focusing more on larger portions of anatomy right now. But I'll do them sooner or later.
nice gril
>>2531325
ryonens hips arent that soft and her hands arent that big, stop ruining my goddess. Nice face though.
