Do as many ahead of time so you have something to post in case something happens and you can't make it one week.
Do not insert your political views into the comic. This is even worse for long-running comics where the author's views change completely, like going from conservative to liberal, and you can see it happen in the comic.
Decide if you are going to have an over-arching plot or just a weekly joke in your comic.

Anime
Social Justice
Libertarianism
Why modern music is awful and classic rock is the only good genre
Inserting yourself into the comic as a character
Being very meta in the comic in general
