What would you charge someone for a set of 10 icons like these? Would you give a discount for a larger order, say 25 or even 50 icons? What if somebody only needs 2-3 icons?
I'm thinking of charging 400$ for 10 icons. Does that seem fair? Don't underestimate the amount of work an icon is.

Don't know; never had much of a need for an icon. I can only think of developers having a need for that.
How long would an icon take to make on average?

Yeah the client is an indie dev, but he has a budget and I've worked with him before so I can charge somewhat in the pro range (not that I'm a big deal or anything).
I'd say an icon takes 2-3 hours. Can definitely do 3-4 on a good day. Ofc some are more complex than others.

Depends on the quality of your work and how long they take, as well as how much feedback and back and forth you will need to do. I would give a discount for a larger volume, but would make sure to still get a reasonable rate on them. $400 for 10 sounds a bit low to me unless you are knocking each one out in under an hour.

I'd say maybe a simple formula is
>$50 flat
>$40-80 per icon depending on your skill
You could probably drop the flat fee after a certain point as well. Or just ignore it in general.

>$40-80 per icon depending on your skill
That seems fair.
I think I'll bill 60$ per icon, but I'm really tempted to propose this
single icon 60$
10 icons 500$ (50$ p/u)
25 icons 1k$ (40$ p/u)
I think I will actually head over to biz, they seem a bit more experienced with these questions and they aren't too relevant for /ic/ anyway.
