Q:

When is it best to draw with your wrist, and when is it best to draw with your arm? I hear life-drawing is better done with your arm, so is there a similar rule with drawing the wrist?

There are no rules when it comes to subject. Drawing with your arm is convenient when the format is large, and you have to draw big strokes. As the stroke get smaller so does the wrist come more in play.

Don't overthink this, just do what's easiest.
