How do I get better at drawing portraits. I been doing lots of them and studying loomis what else should I do?
You can also read "Artist's Complete Guide to Drawing the Head" and I think "Famous Artist Course" has a decent chapter or two on portraits.

not to be that guy but,,,post your work
Always remember that the most important part of a portrait is the eyes. The rest should be "blurry" in a way, if you put to many sharp edges on the face the viewer will get distracted, the eyes should be the focal point.
At least that's what Maughan says in "Artist's Complete Guide to Drawing the Head"

Maybe because it's a fucking demo meant to teach the Reilly method? Unless you think learning proper head construction isn't a "professional" enough approach to drawing for your autist mind. lmao fucking amatuereuureurreur.
Why do you want to get better at drawing portraits?

I think I'd be pretty happy with myself if I could achieve the step four in a month.
draw your hands a lot :)

it's supposed to be a set of guidelines, usually after the first week or so you don't need to draw them. some people learning heads find this way easier

And it is! I've been struggling a week to copy heads even slightly alike the models, always failing. These charts are awesome, instant improvement!

Is this a solid tip? Why?
>>2477370
No unless you want your portraits to look like pic related
are there any other resources like books or onlince courses to help with this?

Depends. Do you want to draw portraits from life, imagination, or photo reference. If photos or imagination just copy photos of portraits you like as best you can and it'll happen eventually for you. If you want to do portraits from life you need practice capturing likeness and hands provide that. They are very complicated and always available to draw. The problem a lot of aspiring portrait artists run into is thinking life drawing is the same as imaginations drawing where if you want to learn to draw a dragon you draw dragons and if you want to learn to draw faces you draw people's faces. Life drawing is much more fluid than that. Doing still life's or landscapes or portraits makes you better at all three. It's all life drawing. Which is great news for you because models are hard to find. If you draw your hands all day it will make you prepared to draw anything else believe it or not.
