So I asked him about this and he made a mistake with remembering the date of the desk one, but the rest are all from 2009.
So the image is 100% true if you take out the desk image, you can ask him yourself or anyone from around that time (or look on his old conceptart thread)
That /ic/ (or just nose samefagging) has been so quick to jump to saying this is bullshit is just some kind of 'it cant be possible for me so it's not true' shit, only one of the images attached shouldnt be there.

The real problem with the progress picture is that, if I recall correctly, tehmeh made it to win an argument with a troll, so he cherrypicked the worst stuff from the beginning of 2009 and the best pictures from the end of 2010. One could argue it's actually two years of improvement, not one.

I've said this before and I'll say it again.
You can be a very good painter within 4 years. It takes 8 years average to to the level of "I wanna be like that guy" with a good following and professional work.
like within 4 years you'll get to "hey this is really good anon! right-click save as". But 8 years or more to go from complete beginner in highschool, good artist upon graduating highschool, and those last few years to get to to rapoza level.

Keep in mind /ic/ has little better to do than shit all over successful individuals just because their success doesn't fit with their personal ideals of artistry - wherein the true irony is that great artists can see the success of others and learn from them, even if it doesn't fit them entirely.

Hours really are a strange way of tracking progress imo. It's really a mix of how many hours, the time between the hours, how you use those hours, and how your ability to work between multiple pieces during those hours.
On top of that, if you have low Visual-spatial intelligence without knowing it, you'll have an even harder time.

I've actually regressed as I am confused with my style and tablet response and my eye is completely off. I constantly have to close my pics for a couple hours/days and come back to see the issues.

Try weed in the evening, I'm serious. Whenever I'm on a tight deadline and can't afford to take my time, I just look at my work high after I'm done for the day. You get a very different perspective and see things you would normally only see after weeks or months. Take notes and fix sober in the morning.
