So for the last few months, I've had an idea to do a more decade-accurate version of the pic here.
For those who don't know, it's a poster of a character from MGSV: The Phantom Pain. It takes place in 1984.
While the illustration itself is great, I wanted to do a remake that actually looks as though it's from the '80s.
I wanted to see if anyone on here has suggestions on any 80s manga artist to keep in mind while remaking this.

You're sounding like a major idea guy here.

Eh, it's more like I just wanna try something for fun and practice.
Not sure what exactly you mean, though. I don't wanna claim I'm some hotshot.

How is he an idea guy if he actually plans to do it? Idea guys just say, "Hey, I have this idea. Anyone want to make it?". If he's planning to actually go through with it, no matter how shitty the image may look at the end. I can't call him an idea guy

OP here. I think I can kinda see what he means. Even when idea guys may say "Oh, I'm gonna do this" they may end up not doing it for whatever reason (most likely motivation issues or a busy schedule).
But yeah, I'm defiantly not asking for anyone to make it for me. Otherwise it would be a lot less fun to make. I was just curious if anyone had any suggestions on what specific 80s manga styles to tackle. I figured this board would be the best to ask.
Image shows kind of a similar attempt I did at taking a recent character in a style from '70s anime via fake screenshot.

I though no one cared about this.
this was the bes thing I found time ago
