Good morning /ic/, in the never ending questing to gitting gud its easy to forget why you go into art in the first place. Lets take a moment to reflect on why we started drawing, and how we have progressed specifically toward that goal.
Maybe you like drawing anime lesbians, maybe you've wanted to draw space marines fighting dragons on mars. Regardless of what it is, its important to remember that art doesn't have to be all work, try and go back to your roots sometimes and enjoy what got you started, it'll help you in the long run.

because killing someone takes a lot of time and effort. Having a shitty job, and keeping it, until you saved enough takes a long time. Hell, you might not get away with the murder.

Because it's something I always knew I HAD to do. I feel like it's my calling and I've never had this feeling towards anything else in my life...
If that makes any sense..
I don't care where it takes me, as long as I draw, I am happy.

>its easy to forget why you go into art in the first place.

Because I'm a fucking idiot and I believed all the people telling me there's plenty of work and you can make a good living if you get to a certain level of skill.

By now I know that was all total bullshit, and everyone who said you can't make money with art is 100% right.
>>
>>2301975
And you're still a fucking idiot for coming to a conclusion.
>>
>>2301975
>By now I know that was all total bullshit, and everyone who said you can't make money with art is 100% right.

Except for, you know, the thousands of professional artists making money with art.

It's easy to blame everyone but yourself for your failures, but deep down you know that it's you who is the problem. That's why you will never be successful in anything you do.
>>
>>2302126
You can't actually believe that everyone is in a vacuum and success is based on nothing but personal effort. That's delusional.
>>
>>2302129
I'm not going to be baited into this same stale argument with defeatist losers like yourself, but to say it's not possible to make money with art, when there are literally thousands of professional artists who DO make money with art is flat out retarded.

You are not good enough to make money with art and not smart enough to find ways to compensate for your lack of skill, that's all there is to it.
>>
>>2302129
How do you define success? Is success many $$$ in your bank account?

What about happiness. You can't buy it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bgp2b2kw790
>>
>>2302139
Not saying it's impossible or even that difficult compared to some things.

But your argument is akin to saying someone didn't make it in the NBA or publish a best seller because they just didn't try hard enough. It's not "defeatist" to realize that not every success or failure is entirely based on personal effort.
>>
>>2302144
Success for a creative type usually means a decent amount of recognition or people caring about their work. Sure, the process is fun too, but at the end of the day that's what we all want.

And money up to a certain point does buy happiness. They've done studies on this. Poor people are less happy.
>>
>>2300445
was she hot?
>>
>>2302147
I've never heard about anyone being succesful in the field they feel miserable in. If the process isn't fun for you, you won't create anything worthwhile.

You may become good enough for financial stabilization but it doesnt make sense to pursue art career if u are to be miserable and hate your job.

And yeah, you may be more happy if you are literally making millions and moni isn't a big problem for you, but as an artist, you will likely earn average moni.
>>
>>2302145
>Not saying it's impossible or even that difficult compared to some things.

Then stop butting into an argument where I originally replied to a person who said IT IS impossible to make money with art.
>>
>>2302145
>But your argument is akin to saying someone didn't make it in the NBA or publish a best seller because they just didn't try hard enough

No, I'm not saying that at all. Being a successful artist is not comparable at all with being in the top 1% of the gene pool that allows you to be a successful professional athlete. Art is a craft, a profession like anything else.

The very fact that people like you constantly whine about shit tier professional artists is proof to that. Why do all the polish photobashers get work but you don't? Are they just more gifted than you are?

I just want to draw QT waifus. Vidya and anime have given me a lot of ideas but I have no ways of expressing them,,, Yet. I feel like a fool not learning how to draw for these past couple years. If I knew to draw I could've distracted myself from other suffering too.

yuri is the sole shining light in my life.
My goal is to one day give back to the community that I've enjoyed so much and be able to draw pretty pictures for them.

I wanted to draw funny comics and doodles like the ones I saw on /tg/. The skill level required for my goal was incredibly low.
After I started I became exposed to better art and artists and my goals have expanded with it, but the objective is still pretty vaguely 'git gud'. I need a better long-term goal but I have trouble coming up with a measurable objective. I vaguely want to make a visual novel some day but it's pretty nebulous.

Thank god for my own happiness I don't aspire to 'make it' like so many people on this board. Most of you sound fucking miserable. At most I might start doing commissions for a little side money.

I think most hobbiests are like you, but after the initial startup most people stop coming to /ic/ because it isn't really worth coming to.
There's some good critiques and advice in the topic specific threads (porn, anime, etc..) but for the most part hobbiests get better slowly at their own pace doing their own thing.

If they're a grill then their goal to give back to the community that they've enjoyed so much is by drawing comics of their anime yaois.
You do you, yuri anons.
